We booked this tour because there was a lot of Pike Place Market Tours, and this was advertised more of as a Pike Place FOOD tour.
Not much food involved. Like 4/5 spots were just places giving out free samples, some of which we had got earlier in the day just wandering around. Most of the tour was around Seattle and Pike Place HISTORY, but not really a FOOD tour (a lot about Jimothy, Orcas, the view, etc. but not really FOOD.) We booked this tour because we thought it would be a good way to see all the vendors in Pike’s Place, but we probably would have been better off just wandering and getting samples ourselves. Decent tour, just wouldn’t call it a FOOD tour. We came hungry, we left hungry.
The tour guide was very pleasant and seemed knowledgeable about the topics she discussed. The tour itself took 2 hours. We had a sample of smoked salmon and beef jerky and a small cup of tea to start. There was no food for the next 1.5 hours. We came to the tour hungry because this was supposed to be a FOOD TOUR. We passed by so many places that were selling food. A few people in our group actually broke away to buy their own food and drink. We did have a few samples at the end of the tour, but we did not get the Beecher’s Mac and Cheese that was advertised. We saw a few other tour groups while we walked around the market, and they definitely seemed to receive more food options.
We spent an enjoyable hour and half exploring the market with our guide Lauren. We found some hidden corners that we wouldn’t have without her experience and knowledge. We got to try some delicious samples of food and drink.
Booked the 2:00pm Walking Food Tour. Was contacted and told the tour company double-booked…so we would be thrown into the Market Wine Tour. Met up at 2:00 for Tour start. At 2:45 we had experienced no wine, minimal interesting info and had partaken in a clam chowder mini-cup sample and a cheese stick. We left.
Respectfully, would not recommend.

Lauren was incredibly knowledgeable! She had historical details and stories to share about the market and the city. We were the only guests for that time slot which was great! The variety of tastings was good, and we were hungry for more afterwards. The tastings didn’t necessarily follow the tour description, but that wasn’t a big deal to us.

I would highly recommend this tour. We had John as our guide and he was absolutely the best. You see things in the market that you would never see on your own.
John was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of history of the area and the market! He provided keen insight to lots of the vendors and products, plus free samples! Since it was extremely crowded and noisy we would have appreciated some kind of amplification or earpieces to hear better but that is my only criticism.

Don't eat before you go as you will get plenty of taste test samples. Wear comfortable shoes and have an open mind.
