Itinerary
Get ready to discover the original Emerald City, the city of Seattle, Washington, from its inception in the 1890s. This entertaining and educational underground voyage travels beneath the streets to uncover three blocks of historic, old Pioneer Square. Explore not only the underground passageways that were built more than 120 years ago, but also the modern Pioneer Square that exists today.
Make your way to 102 Cherry Street near Pioneer Street to start your tour. Hear tales from the past, including the story of the stampede to the Yukon gold fields and Seattle's crucial role in what would become the Klondike Gold Rush. Find out about Skid Row, a dilapidated urban area that served as the main street in Pioneer Square. And get to know the history of a group of people called the Coast Salish, the ethnically and linguistically related Indigenous peoples that first settled here.
The tour ends at Occidental Square.

- Tours need 2 or more people on the tour for the tour to run. Full refunds given in the event only one person signed up for the tour.
- Children ages 2-6 need a ticket. Purchase an infant ticket for this age or call the tour,206-624-1237 and purchase in person
- There are 3 flights of stairs, up and down each flight, throughout the one hour tour. We travel 4 blocks ( apporx. half a mile, .8k) at a leisurley pace during the one hour tour.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travelers

Carter was a terrific guide with, I would guess, a background as an educator. We had been on a previous underground tour a couple of decades ago and felt this one was far superior.

The history was interesting, but most of the actual underground part itself was a bit dull. It was basically a bunch of old looking basements with low clearances.

Many people come to the Underground expecting a "lost city" or ruins and sadly that is not the case. The Seattle Underground is comprised of a series of double decker sidewalks and disused first stories. It can feel like and smell like old basements.

Very fun tour. Patti is an absolute hoot. She is an engaging story-teller with a wealth of knowledge. She is funny and kept the young and old entertained. It was very interesting to look at old pictures and walk the old underground tunnels

It is a history tour of how Seattle began and how it evolved. The guide was very knowledgeable. This was not our first time in Seattle, but the first time we went on this tour and it was worth the time to go. We learned a lot about how Seattle was built.

Super cool tour - learned a ton about the city’s history, both recent history and centuries ago. The city below the streets is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a city in a very long time. This tour makes you see the city totally differently.

This was a great tour of the underground with some really interesting history told in a very entertaining way. Sara was a wonderful guide - would highly recommend any tour that she leads. I had done the tour about 15 years ago but forgot a lot of the information and it was such a great tour, I didn't feel like it was repetitive at all!

Mike was an awesome tour guide and knew a lot about the history of Seattle. He was energetic and funny which made the tour more enjoyable! Our only regret is that we couldn’t spend more time exploring the underground with him. Would definitely do it again! Kids had a blast!
