This was one of the best food tours I’ve been on. I live in Seattle and did this tour with some family that was visiting and I would absolutely take this tour again. Our guide, John, was so fun and friendly and knew so much about the market that I learned a lot even though I go to Pike Place regularly. AND THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. He gave us tips for great food, unique bars and great deals on drinks. We tried new foods and even discovered new places at Pike that I have never noticed or had been to before. Come hungry and give yourself time to explore the market after the tour

Our guide had us all over the place at the market. Be ready for lots of stairs and hills and ramps! The food…The first peroshki (sp?) was really good and the cheese biscuit. The rest was so so.
The guide kept berating vendors that he felt were there without permits. We didn’t need to hear that negativity. The thing that made it great was a young family that took the tour and the little girl took to my partner. Sweet.

Yes the Pike Place Market is a 9 acre multi-level historic district with 30 buildings 500 independent businesses and 450 residents. It has been stairs, hills ramps and cobblestones for 119 years. Its never going to change or get any easier to walk through. Sounds like you wanted a sit-down chain restaurant and instead took a walking 2-hour small business food and fun tour with an actual Market Family member instead.
Of course all young guests and those young at heart love my Tasty Tour. From the "Piroshky"- Street taco - James-Beard award Lumpia/Longanisa - Truffle samples at the Truffle Queen - Pizza - Smoked Salmon - To the Steamed buns -Market Grill Chowder- Beef Jerky - Chukar Cherries-Seattle Dogs etc. My Tasty Tour shows you the real Market. I follow a precise route that winds through the lower levels to show you the whole Market and its community not jut one street.

John was super knowledge about Pikes Place Market - the history, architecture, area, fun facts. He took us behind the scenes. Lots of very interesting info about a really great area. The food samples were three out of five stars. We only sat down at one place. At some places we just ate the same free samples that the vendors offered to the general public - not always special to our tour. Food highlights were a truffle store (very knowledgeable store owner!) and street tacos. Highly recommend this tour!!

Even though I was the only person to book my tour that day, sonic john did not cancel on me and made the tour just as wonderful. We got to try lots of different foods, see a good amount of the market and hear a lot of history. You can tell he truly loves the place and it’s part of his own history.

We got to learn a lot about the market layout and history. Sonic John knew everyone it seemed. We wouldn’t have been able to go through and navigate and learn some of the pro tips without him. Our group was small and we had a good time. I do wish we got even more samples because there was sooo much to see and take in but that’s just because I wanted to try everything!

There is some walking, but you hardly notice it thanks to John. I've been to the Market 5 different times, but thanks to John found new shortcuts, learned history, and got to explore the market with an extra cool tour guide. Worth his weight in gold. And samples galore!

Sonic John was an incredibly fun and engaging guide who brought the whole market to life. He highlighted all the quirky details—from restroom signs to hidden garden gnomes—and clearly knew the place inside and out, including many of the vendors (if not all of them). Along the way, he shared great history and kept things lively the entire time.
The food was excellent across the board, with standouts like the piroshky, biscuits, pizza with hot honey, and the hot dogs—but honestly, everything was good. There was more than enough food to make it a full meal. We didn't even eat dinner that night we were still full.
My teenage son even called it one of the best tours we’ve taken anywhere, and thought Sonic John was especially entertaining and funny.

The Pike Market tour was exceptional. Walking & climbing stairs & ramps was done comfortably. The historical & current outlets’ wares were detailed. Multiple tastings were obtained. This was my second food tour of Pike Place Markets, and I can absolutely say that this is the best tour of Pike Place Market you can do. John knows the place inside out and you'll feel like you're market family yourself. You'll be full to the brim of the most delicious food and have the best experience of the markets, including how they run and their history including famous landmarks like Tom Hanks' seat in Sleepless in Seattle. Don't waste your time with other tour companies, Sonic John is it, he used to run a stall here and is the only tour guide who knows it inside out!

What a fun-filled and educational tour by John! We learned and tasted more in the two hours with John than we could have in a week on our own! We met tons of great vendors, heard some incredible stories, and still talked about how great the tour was two days later! We made our way back to the market for multiple lunches and The Pink Door for dinner our last evening in Seattle - what a cool vibe and amazing food - exactly as John said it would be.

for two women over 50 traveling without their husbands this was a great tour

This was a fun way to explore the warren of levels that is the Pike Place Market! John was enthusiastic and well connected. He knew someone everywhere we went and loved to shout out to shopkeepers. The servings were generous and it wasn’t just the free samples that all visitors get. My fave were the cheddar biscuits, hot dog with pickled onions, pizza, and the chocolate covered cherry.
