In the ambient evening light, follow your guide through Rome’s historical center and stop to sample buffalo mozzarella and burrata, accompanied by salami and prosciutto. Then, proceed to the Jewish Ghetto in order to introduce your palate to artichokes and conchia, a Roman-Jewish specialty.

After crossing the Tiber River, you’ll arrive in the lively area of Trastevere, whose ivy-clad buildings and cobbled streets are a well-kept secret. On the atmospheric backstreets, rest your feet during a sit-down dinner comprised of classic Italian dishes: feast on a variety of pizza and pasta dishes and conclude with authentic Italian gelato, the ultimate sweet treat.

Bid your guide farewell here, full of food and recommendation for excellent Roman restaurants.

Walking Food Tour was Amazing!

William_G, Mar 2026
Excellent!! Provided a great overview of food and daily life style in Rome. Visited a variety of neighborhoods and sampled a range of relevant foods from those areas. Super interesting!!

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for sharing your experience, William! We are overjoyed to hear that you had such a great time learning about Rome and sampling local staples during one of our tours in Trastevere! We truly appreciate your kind words and we'd love to see you again soon for another food tour!

Wonderful foods to try in a unique neighborhood of Rome.

Stephanie_G, Sep 2024
This tour was a wonderful experience in the Trastavere neighborhood of Rome, which felt out of the tourist areas and made the experience feel more authentic. The neighborhood is vibrant and bustling, and the walking (which we did quite a lot of) played a huge part in the enjoyment. But the food-wow! We tried two different kinds of pizza, one with potatoes on it (yummy!). So, so good. We tried an unusual battered and fried spaghetti on a stick, which was a delicious appetizer. We had an interesting street food that was some sort of fried popover with cheese at the center. We stopped at a delicatessen with amazing roasted pork and prosciutto. We dined at a Trattoria that served us an amazing pasta dish with wine (most of our group doesn't drink but it was available). The final course- delicious gelato done authentically (not the poofy gelato with air pumped into it for tourists). Our guide was a young man with great enthusiasm for all the foods and made the evening so much fun. If you are going to Italy you must do at least one food tour like this. We did another food tour in Verona which was very different from this one but both incredibly informative and fun. Foods tours are a great change of pace from the history/museum/archaeological tours, and I highly recommend this one!

Awesome Food Tour!

Our guide (Fredericka) made this tour special. Lots of extras that were so appreciated! We had fantastic food, learned about the area & never felt rushed. Loved it & well worth the price!

Sarah was an outstanding guide and host. She was very informative about the food and culture. We probably would not have seen Trastevere had we not taken this tour and it ended up being our favorite part.

We absolutely loved this tour.. it had everything we needed..everything we were expecting.. and much much more! A nice walk in the heart of Rome with a great guide, Sara, which taught us a lot about the history and the curiosities of the ancient Rome. The food and the wine we had the chance to taste during the tour was the absolute highlight. Everything simply perfect and unique. Authenticity, beauty and fun! Totally recommend!
