My daughter and I spent a lovely afternoon learning about the art of making mosaics and then had the opportunity to each make one for ourself. Alex and Julia were amazing instructors and we really had such a lovely time. It was a great way to break up a day of sight seeing. The studio is in a fun and vibrant part of town.

Eleonora and Renato are both really kind and passionate, which makes this workshop very friendly. I recommend 100% and will probably come back for another workshop on micromosaic! You will learn about the different techniques of mosaic and make your own, with some advice. It was such a nice experience, as a solo traveller! What To Expect

Head to your mosaic workshop on Via Urbana in Rome. You’ll start your creative experience with an introduction to Roman mosaic techniques and history. Then, you’ll start cutting your marble tiles and plan the textures you’d like to create with your composition.

With the guidance of your teacher, you’ll create a traditional piece that follows the best principles of Roman mosaic design, ready to take home and remind you of your Rome vacation.

Fun, creative, cool, learned a lot!

WOW. This was an amazing experience, especially for someone who was brand new to this craft but fascinated with all the mosaics and stones around the city! I cannot say enough good things about my session with Giulia and Uliana. They were wonderful teachers, and I learned so much—and even walked away with suggestions of where to see more mosaics around Rome. I think it's really neat how connected they are to restorations and history, too. Cannot recommend this enough.

Ok. THIS is the experience you want to have in Rome to cool off in the AC and and spend some time making your own keepsake. We now have so much understanding for the puzzle making abilities and craftsmanship of making mosaic masterpieces. It is incredibly therapeutic as well. We popped in for lunch across the street and it was delish! Enjoy!!

This was a fun experience, we did the micro mosaic class the day before so it was interesting to see the difference in the styles. They went over the history and process of mosaics and we got to pick from a dozen or so patterns from ancient mosaics they have worked on in pompey to do for our own project. We got to pick from several colors of squares and they helped us make them look great!

Go go go! This was not your typical “art” class. The instructor has his masters in mosaic and is very passionate about mosaic, the history of mosaic and the restoration process. Really great way to get off our feet during our busy Rome vacation.

I'm not really into artsy stuff, but somehow I really dig Roman mosaics. I wanted to learn more about it, and this workshop very much delivered. We got a short historical intro to it and then got to try our hands at a hands-on project. I was very much outside my comfort zone, but the hosts were very well prepared and they were just such nice people, it all worked out very well and we had a great time and got to take back our own hand made Roman mosaics that I will very much treasure.

A lovely afternoon making mosaics in a cool mosaic studio that has restored mosaics from Pompeii and Byzantine churches also. Our two hosts were lovely and very knowledgeable, patient & skilled, and also very chilled which made for a brilliant afternoon of peaceful mosaic making. Highly recommend!

Out-of-this-world experience, joining mosaic artisans who have restored ancient sites and want to keep the art of mosaic alive. It felt like stepping back in time. I wasn't sure what to expect. My family had an extended vacation in Rome and I wanted to find something that was more than "seeing." I booked this experience hoping it was not a tourist trap. We spent eight days in Rome and this was a highlight for my family. We spent 2.5 hours learning the history of mosaics and creating our own. The staff was friendly, informative and passionate about their work. The Coliseum, Vatican, Forum and everything Rome has to offer is fantastic...but don't sleep on this experience. If your traveling party enjoys art, history or having a new experience I would definitely recommend the mosaic workshop.

Alex & Leonora ran a wonderful experience. It was educational, fun and by the end you end you felt you made good friends. The mosaic project was so fun but a serious way to begin. They provided assistance and wrapped up everyone’s art at the end. There is also so many beautiful works to admire in the studio! I will have to return ❤️
