This was SO much fun! There's so much mosaic work in all the churches we visited that this was really great to get to do early on in our trip - it gave us so much more appreciation for the craftsmanship and talent behind each tile cut and placed in thes amazing places. Our fearless leader was very helpful in our project work and our pieces made it home safely due to their expert packing!

Fun and engaging workshop in Rome.

This mosaic workshop was so interesting! The instructor did not speak much English, yet she still did an excellent job communicating and teaching us the techniques. It was a nice way to get away from the busy city for a few hours. The mosaics turned out beautifully and it was a nice souvenir to bring home.

Awesome alternate to museums

An awesome activity that ties back to all of the beautiful mosaics around Rome! We took our class to supplement our many days of museums and it was a great choice. Our instructor was kind and patient as we got the hang of this difficult craft. There are definitely some tiles that are easier to work with than others, as well as easier designs. We got to walk away with an awesome souvenir from our trip.

Shown the basics of (Roman) mosaic, could choose a basic design to work from (I did think we might be able to do our own before arrival, but makes sense to keep it to some set layouts!). Good instructions on how to do it all, help along the way to make sure it looks as good as it could. Help setting and completing the mosaics once stones in place. Lots of fun with a great end result that we made!

The class was such fun. The instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. We picked a pattern from a group of about 20 different patterns and then picked the colors of marble that we wanted to use.

The workshop was a great experience, and a must for anyone who likes Art, especially Roman art. Instructor Nadia is very sweet and very skilled. Her English is limited, but she tries her best and even used Google translate to communicate and pass knowledge better. She is very patient, and you will enjoy spending time with her! The process included deciding your design from a selection, choosing your stones, cutting stones, glueing them down, and layering it into the concrete. Be prepared to use the forearms a lot! Highly recommend and I would do it again whenever I visit Rome again! Thank you for the wonderful time!

While there was a little confusion when we arrived and they were not expecting us, they pivoted quickly and we were getting started. The lady running the class was brilliant and very knowledgeable. We both ended up with mosaic tiles and had a wonderful afternoon hammering at marble. It is not a hobby I will pick up and it is a lot harder than it looks, but it is wonderful to create something so unique and Roman and with a lovely group of people.
