Fantastic educational tour for those who love chocolate and may be interested in the industry. Also if you just are interested in where your chocolate bar comes from. The owner Dan was so nice and spent a lot of time talking with us and giving us precious information. His dog Zoe was a joy! Our tour guide Katie, was wonderful. She knew everything about the farm and was a delight. There was a ton of chocolate to sample and you have a great opportunity to buy some Manoa chocolate. I would highly recommend this tour.

This tour could not be more perfect. You travel down dirt roads with views of North Shore going towards a monastery. You talk about cacao production and all the agriculture research development they have done and are doing. You taste raw cacao seeds, fermented Cacau, roasted Cacau underneath the trees. Bug spray provided too! You finally get many, many Chocalate samples hinting at their flavor profiles. These are all dark Chocalate and they do have milk Chocalate available too. I have kids of the internet generation and phones were willingly put away to listen to Katie and her talk the entire time. WOW! Honestly this and shark cage diving made the Hawai’i trip so memorable. Wife bought too much chocolate and almost joined the Hawaii Chocalate club. They have a manufacturing tour and stores in Waikaki as well. They also have different cacao fields across Hawaii islands with different flavored cacao. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Keep up this great tour!

This was a fantastic tour! One of the highlights of our trip. Driving to the site is a bit of an experience itself since it is quite a distance down more than one gravel road, but we really didn't have any trouble finding the location and it added a sense of being in the very middle of the farm. We were in a small group of about 8 people and our guide Kate was engaging and very knowledgeable. We were greeted with cacao tea (which was delicious) and offered bug spray if needed. Kate then walked us through the cacao orchard detailing not only the cacao trees, but other plants and fruits that are grown on the farm and giving the background for the inclusion of those plants on the farm. We stopped at a small open area when she opened some cacao pods and we were able to taste the fruit. She explained all the processing steps and welcomed any questions we had. We then walked to a open seating area where we had the actual chocolate tasting - about 10 different varieties. It was simply a lovely experience for all the senses! Oh, and did I mention the beautiful peacocks on the drive in?

Our visit to Kamananui Cacao Farm was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment we arrived, Katie and Matt made us feel completely welcome. Their warmth and genuine passion for cacao created such a memorable experience.
Katie and Matt are incredibly knowledgeable — they explained the entire cacao growing and chocolate-making process in a way that was both fascinating and easy to understand. You can truly feel how much they care about what they do, and their enthusiasm is contagious. We learned so much about the history of cacao in Hawaii and the craftsmanship that goes into every batch.
The customer service was outstanding. They were attentive, engaging, and happy to answer every question with patience and depth. It felt personal, not rushed, and very authentic.

Our guide (Katie) was very knowledgeable and kind! We had a great time and learned a lot, and not just about cacao, but all the other flora and fauna required to make cacao successful. Our group was small and everyone was nice and respectful. This was one of our favorite experiences in all of our recent travels! The experience was unique, the people are lovely, and the tastings throughout the experience were informative and tasty. Well worth the trip up from Honolulu!
Some tips: The orchard had patches of mud (not the entire orchard but it is present) so be mindful of your clothes/shoes. Also, the side road to the orchard is gravel about 50% of the way up, so budget some extra minutes (5-10 extra minutes) for dodging potholes and driving slowly (to avoid kicking up rocks) if you're not accustomed to this kind of driving.

Our visit to the orchard was absolutely incredible. The lady who led the tour was extremely knowledgeable and did a wonderful job answering everyone’s questions in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. She blended all age groups seamlessly and made sure everyone felt included and cared for throughout the experience.
The tasting was delicious, and the cacao tea was a must—truly a highlight of the visit. Everything felt thoughtfully planned and well executed, with great attention to detail and hospitality. It was both educational and enjoyable, making it a perfect experience for families, couples, and groups of all ages. We left feeling informed, welcomed, and grateful for such a memorable and enriching experience. Highly recommended!

We had some confusion about timing, but all of this was worked out very professionally. After that, everything went great. The tour guide was so sweet and friendly. The tour was so informative and enjoyable. The chocolate tasting at the end was the icing on the cake! We would highly recommend this tour. Allow yourself extra time from what Maps says because is rather far from the main road.
