This was a fun tour I was happy to see one here i do think it could have use more options for food. But thw tour guide did say that it was new. Excited to see it again in Jan.

Great eating and walking experience with Max from OnoKauaiFoodTours.com. Learned a lot of the great local eats in the Diamond Head district. Definitely will share with friends and family and come back to explore and eat. Max is informative and knows good food.

Our guide was fantastic and a true Hawaii native with all the tips and tricks for our trip. His knowledge of the local food scene was just one piece of our experience as he really covered a lot of the state’s history, geography and anything else we wanted to know. The food was great and at local spots we would’ve never found or chosen for ourselves. Book this!!

Choice of businesses was ok, fish taco was edible except the fish was very dry, but coleslaw was the best of the dish. 3 of the folks did not like raw fis; so the business should have offer an alternative dish; ( sushi rice was not seasoned had more rice; was good. Would have the smoothies with the best fried chicken on the tour. It brought my mother’s fried chicken! Max was great, knowledgeable and professional. The last stop was the yummy choice of dessert. He was right, the blueberry scone was excellent. Max took the time to know his group and was helpful in directing us on transportation back to our hotel. Definitely will let family and friends to this unexpected tour that pop up during our stay.

Thank you for leaving us a review! Made my day seeing the breakdown on all the stops, and found it extremely useful. In fact the review left 8 days prior listed the taco as their favorite, and the chicken not so much , to each their own. Doing our best to have something for everyone. Would you mind messaging/emailing where you signed up? We ask on the sign up forms about picky eaters/restrictions, and you're right, no one had made any requests prior to arriving, and raw fish had been served. We do place all the food orders ahead of time and guides can't guess dietary preferences. Mahalo for joining us!

Good way to explore some foods in Hawaii from a native. Our favorite was the fish tacos! Sushi was good. Smoothie and mochico chicken were good but not our favorite. Dessert at the end was great! Good way to try some things while you’re here. Max was very informative and friendly.

Decided to do this food tour kind of last minute. Great decision. Food was excellent. I’m a very picky eater and for me to enjoy everything says A LOT! It wasn’t too long, dragging wasting time. It was something to do for a couple hours, eat and enjoy going to places I wouldn’t go to on my own. Max was a
great host. Wasn’t a dull moment.

This tour is a cafeteria style meal experience. You can eat at these places on your own for half the price of this tour. They did not have a replacement meal for pescatarian so could not eat.

Aloha Kathy_L, I believe you have confused what experience you are reviewing here, maybe another Luau you had booked. This tour Started with a fish taco, followed by a fish sushi, both pescatarian options that we served on every tour given up to this date. Also we do accommodate dietary requests that have been called into our office in advance to the start of your tour. Lastly we never did go to any cafeteria, or buffet line, all locally owned and operated restaurants, where we skip lines and get served ahead of anyone just walking in.

This was a great way to experience the local cuisine and to get a taste of Hawaiian life off of the beaten path. The area for the food tour was so cute and there were alot of locals.... It was nice to get away from the bustle of downtown and to get a tast of island life. The 1st stop with the tacos was great and the last stop was on repeat after the tour for their local bakery.
Max was a great guide and was very knowledgeable of the places, culture and food. He is local himself and you can tell that he takes pride in his island.
Overall a great experience!

Great tour with Max
Lovely food & really nice area to wander around.
Only suggestion would be to offer the tasty smoothies at the end of the tour as they are so filling I found it difficult to fit in all the wonderful food samples.

I did this tour with my teenager and we both loved it. Nalu was the guide and he was super friendly and knowledgeable with the local foods. It was in a cute little part of town and he took us to eat delicious tacos, shakes, sushi and chicken. It was the perfect choice for this tour. He also talked to us about Hawaii's local food,fruits and history- which was nice for me because I'm into those things when I travel. Great food picks - even though it wasn't a lot , it was enough and we were so full ! I def recommend this food tour with Nalu, you won't be disappointed, the view of Diamond Head while walking is a plus too. Don't forget to tip bc he shares it with the small restaurants who participate in the tour.
