Fantastic! My husband, my daughter and I did a 1-hour trail ride yesterday (a beautiful, sunny, warm Sunday in October) and it was on of our most memorable family experiences yet. Sunset Ranch is in a gorgeous neighborhood that is beautiful to drive through, and the ranch itself is quaint and full of horses and other farm animals. The staff and guides are wonderful. The horses are tame and patient and suitable for even absolute beginners. My only word of advice-- don't hold tightly to your reins! It is human instinct to pull or tightly hold the reins when a beginning horseback rider is scared/afraid, but this is counterproductive as it makes the horse anxious. Just be chill, hold on loosely, and get ready for a breathtaking view of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign that you could never see any other way. I am sure I'll be back with friends and family who are visiting LA in the future, as I would consider this a "must do" now that I've experienced it myself. Highly recommend! 10/10 A+++

This was a great experience as a beginner it was my first time on a horse. This is great for beginners and learning how to control and navigate a horse and understanding that they respond to body language

Hmmmm….. mixed emotions. Good but not really. Way too many horses in the group ride…..it’s super slow and by the time we finally got on a horse and waited for the rest of the group we were 30 minutes just sitting! Smaller groups would be better. Would not recommend this place to a friend.

It was a fun and amazing experience. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our time with the horses going up the trails. I would definitely come back and consider doing a longer trip.

Highly recommend doing this excursion if you’re in the LA area. The staff was nice and knowledgeable and the horses are gentle.
A couple things to note:
1. If you are reserving a 9a horseback ride, the ranch opens at 8:30a. This is important to keep in mind if you’re catching ride-share (Lyft, Uber, or a taxi).
2. The parking area that is provided beyond the gate is small and limited.
3. Bags ( purses, waist pouches, book bags, etc.) can’t be worn while riding the horses. Be sure to wear a shirt with a pocket or pants with side pockets to hold your phone and other items (back pants pockets don’t count and work because once you sit in the saddle, your phone will be pushed out). If you bring a bag, you’ll have to either leave it in your car or leave it in the front office with the staff.
Enjoy!

Super sweet horses and super sweet guides. If afraid of heights, this probably isn’t the best experience for you, just a heads up. Overall, lovely experience and would definitely come back

Amazing experience. I would definitely recommend this for a birthday and date, family outing. Its truly an awesome time!

Well, my partner whom I paid for already was unable to ride due to the weight restriction. The waiver only asks for weight. It does not say they will be ineligible to ride if over 240. I would like to determine how to get a refund for his ticket.
Outside of this, the process was fine, but I ended up having to ride in a group of people I didn’t know.
The scenery however, was beautiful. The horses were err pretty well behaved, and the guides were amazing.

A great way to spend an hour in Hollywood doing something completely different! Carly was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who enhanced the experience.

The horses, the staff, the guides, the views... Everything about this experience was 10/10 perfect and I thoroughly recommend for anyone who wants to do something a bit different whilst in LA!!!
I am a complete beginner and my lovely boy Fred was perfect, he was easy to guide along the trail and I felt confident on his back..
It's an extraordinary opportunity to view the Hollywood sign up close.. You won't get this close any other way!!
The guides took some fantastic photographs of my husband and I...
Be prepared to trek along paths with some steep drops into the valley below..the horses seem to like to walk on the very edge.. Being honest this isn't for you if you're afraid of heights or nervous about steep drops.. For me it was part of the thrill.. 😅As I've said were beginners at 61yo & 57yo... This experience is suitable for every age and ability.
The ranch is a terrific place where the horses are so well looked after.. Our guide explained each horse only goes out on one trek each day due to the extreme heat..
Ensure you wear sensible clothes.. I wrote jeans, boots and long sleeved light weight shirt.. You're provided with helmet..
This really was a highlight of our California adventure..
Thanks to all the staff at the ranch.. & especially my lovely big boy Fred 🩵🐎

This was a great experience although I wasn’t expecting to literally be on the edge of the mountian. This was a great ride and fun experience

Really lovely ranch. We met Becky and whilst we waited for our ride we bathed baby ducklings ! All the staff were friendly and the horses all well mannered and very well used to the track and looked after their riders.

Cass was a great guide and the trail was amazing! The horses were well trained and it seemed like everyone attending had a great time.
