Poorly described and executed.

GuyH, Jul 2026
This tour is not for everyone. Lara was very nice and enthusiastic but her enthusiasm led to frequent digressions that caused the walking portion of the tour to extend a half hour beyond the published hour. The tour description should have indicated that it was strenuous and was not appropriate for anyone with difficulty with steep inclines. The restaurant food, music and service were reasonably good but my sister-in-law was pickpocketed during the lights-out portion of the show. Directions to the taxi stand (Go down the alley and take a left.) after the show didn't work out; probably because people who left us before got the cabs. We went to the next major street to catch an Uber where were pursued twice by a rather tall vagrant who kept shouting "Money, money, money! It took a direct confrontation to get rid of him. Over, the tout was poorly described and executed.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We're pleased to hear that you found Lara to be enthusiastic and friendly. We understand, however, that her passion for sharing stories made the walking portion feel longer than expected for you. We appreciate this observation and will review how we present the pace and duration of the tour to better set expectations. Regarding the walking route, we acknowledge that some areas include steep streets, which are characteristic of the historic neighborhood. We will consider making this information clearer in our tour description so guests can better assess whether the experience is suitable for their mobility needs. We are truly sorry to hear about your sister-in-law's experience with pickpocketing. While unfortunately this is something that can happen in busy tourist areas and is beyond our control, we take guest safety very seriously and will reinforce reminders about keeping personal belongings secure throughout the tour. We're also sorry that the transportation guidance after the show did not work as expected and that you had an uncomfortable encounter while looking for alternative transport. We understand how this affected the end of your evening and will review our post-tour recommendations to better assist future guests. Your feedback is valuable and helps us continue improving the experience we provide. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and we wish you and your family all the best.

We had a nice evening...

We had a nice evening overall and are glad we experienced a traditional Fado dinner while visiting Lisbon. Our tour guide, Miguel, was friendly and accommodating. Before the tour, I told him I was experiencing hot flashes and wasn’t sure if I’d be able to keep up with the walking. He reassured me that we’d take things at a comfortable pace, and he absolutely kept his word, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights of the evening was meeting another wonderful family on the tour. We ended up making new friends, which made the experience even more memorable. The Fado performances themselves were very enjoyable. Both the male and female singers were talented, and it was a wonderful introduction to this beautiful Portuguese tradition. The dinner, however, was just okay. The menu wasn’t explained in much detail, so I ended up choosing the chicken, which wasn’t particularly memorable. The sangria was delicious, but the meal overall didn’t stand out. The staff also didn’t check in after serving the food to see if everything was satisfactory. Toward the end of the evening, we also felt a bit rushed, as if the restaurant was ready for our group to leave before the scheduled end of the experience. Dessert was a simple sorbet, which was fine but not especially memorable. Overall, we’re glad we went because the music, cultural experience, and the people we met made the evening worthwhile. With a little more attention to the dining experience and guest hospitality, it could be an even better experience for future visitors.

Walk, history, music, food - all perfect. Totally recommended.

Amit_R, Jul 2026
Our guide Lara was super friendly. She gave us a good glimpse of the history of Lisbon and Portugal, and the connection with Brazil too. The walk thru the ups and downs of narrow cobbled Lisbon streets was unique in it's own way. The weather was beautiful in the evening as we were brought to the restaurant. Light breeze, good food and cocktail and the Fado music made the evening. Definitely recommend it.

FADO Walking Tour

Stephanie_C, May 2026
Miguel was an excellent tour guide and very helpful as we had some elderly on our group so navigation and mobility were a little challenging. He was very helpful and found elevators where we could use them versus the stairs. We definitely highly recommend just with caution that you need to be in fairly good shape or not have any mobility issues because there’s a lot of stairs and upward climbing and then back downhill. Overall, it was excellent. We enjoyed it, especially the dinner and the fado singing.

Nice tour combo of walking, dinner, and the fado show!

Valerie_I, May 2026
This was a good tour with some walking so be prepared. It was a challenge to find the meeting place but the folks around the area were very helpful. It was a informative walk as our guide was knowledgeable even though he was from France. The food was very good and the fado show was great for the exception of the other guests that were in attendance. This show is best appreciated with a quiet crowd. Our group respected this but other guests did not. We still enjoyed the show but felt bad for the performers.

Excellent guide to fado and an excellent meal

kingofpeytonia, Apr 2026
if you are curious about really hearing fado you should take this tour. Miguel is an excellent guide who was born and raised in Portugal. He speaks excellent English and his commentary included how to behave in a.fado restaurant. It would probably have been more fun if we had had a larger group, but after his talk on behavior, eight girls who thought they were going to a bachelorette party broke off from the group. He took it well and we had a private guide for the meal. He explained what the usual Portuguese meal schedule was and what most of them ate. We had several choices of dinner. A grilled chicken and the national dish of salted cod and potatoes. It was delicious.the fado Singers were very nice to listen to and very personable. They were friends of Miguel and when I asked about the instrument were thrilled to show me a 14 string guitar. The players fingers moved so fast. I could not follow it. Highly recommended. We took a food and wine to her earlier in the day, which was much more expensive than nowhere near as informative.

Yolanda_G, Apr 2026
It was a walking tour of the older residential neighborhoods leading to the Fado bar and restaurant. Our guide, Nessim, was knowledgeable and experienced. Very engaged. The Fado performance at the Alfama Grill was excellent.

Miguel was a great guide and gave us a nice overview of the city’s history and introduction to fado. We enjoyed the music and thought the price was good for a tour and meal.

Fado and a walk

Holly_S, Jan 2026
We had a great guide. We walked around for an hour and a half hearing some history of the area and the country. It was really cold so if you don’t like walking at night in the cold, this wouldn’t be the tour for you. We had great food and heard great fado music

Fado, an experience MUST when visiting Lisbon.

Astrid_M, Dec 2025
Our knowledgeable guide for the evening (Miguel) took us from the meeting point (the Hostel was a bit difficult to find as we did not notice any signs on the ground level at the station) through the area where Fado is said to originate, to the restaurant at which the event was to take place: a quaint little restaurant in one of the old narrow streets of Lisbon. 3 Fado performers took to the stage and sang their songs with lots of passion (in particular Henriqueta Baptista belted out the songs). The food was ok, but not spectacular. However, as we came to enjoy an evening of Fado, this was only a minor issue. We would highly recommend people try to experience some of this "cultural heritage" of Portugal.

Amazing evening of Dinner and Fado.

Michael_T, Nov 2025
Wonderful evening with our guide Ness. He’s friendly and knowledgeable. Learned so much about the local culture of Fado and the dinner and Fado performance was amazing. Definitely a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this tour.

True Lisbon Experience

Ricardo_P, Nov 2025
Rodrigo was a very friendly chap and has an amazing knowledge about history totally recommend this guy, and the last stop at the restaurant way the cherry on top!

Untimely cancellation

Kerry_M, Oct 2025
Was unfortunate that the tour was cancelled - understood that was a possibility if not enough people. However would have expected and appreciated more than a 40 minute before start time notice to be able to arrange alternate plans.

It was an informative work and a nice Fado show. Great singers and a good meal. Too long a walk. Was tiring..

Martin_L, Oct 2025
It was interesting. The guide was very knowledgeable. The two plus hour walk was quite a bit too long
