We had such a great time on this tour! We were only with 2 other people, plus our guide, Franco, who was fantastic. He was kind and knowledgeable, and it was great way to learn more about the city at the beginning of our trip. The food was great as well! Would highly recommend.

Itinerary

Meet your guide in Martim Moniz square, located in the historic district of Mouraria. Fascinating and unique, this district is characterized by its narrow streets with a rich heritage, nourished by the multicultural influence resulting from the discoveries of Portugal's history.

As you walk through the streets of Mouraria, your guide will explain the history of this neighborhood and why it was the traditional residential district of the Moors. Breathe in and feel the local energy of these streets as you explore the small, charming churches and traditional stores. Be introduced to Fado, the Portuguese musical genre that was inscribed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, and explore the story of Maria Severa: an important figure in the captivating History of Fado.

Discover a bakery hidden away from the crowds and tourists where you can enjoy a traditional pastel de nata with a hot coffee while listening to the history of Lisbon and interacting with locals. See the neo-Manueline façade as you pass the Rossio train station towards Rossio Square. In this historic 19th-century square, see the classic Portuguese cobblestones and learn about their history and origin.

Make your way to Carmo Convent for stunning views of Lisbon, including the São Jorge Castle, and the Santa Justa Lift, while drinking a refreshing Portuguese beer.

Embark on a boat trip on the Tagus River, which will take you to a riverside restaurant where you can eat the famous seafood rice while enjoying the panoramic view of Lisbon. Capture magnificent views of the Tagus River before finishing your meal and returning to the center of Lisbon, where your tour ends.

Carlos was on time & friendly. Great way to see parts of Lisbon you wouldn’t normally. Learning about Lisbon’s history was fascinating. The stops we made for snack, drinks & lunch were delicious. We stayed after lunch to walk around & took the ferry back in our own.

A wonderful mix of culture and delicious food We loved our tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable

Fabulous tour

Lita_L, Feb 2025
This was a fabulous tour! Six of us walked through beautifully tiled Plaza and to a small pastry shop and treated to a pastry and a shot of expresso. Walked around some more and treated to a draft beer in a Plaza. Walked to the Ferry station and boarded the Ferry to an restaurant and drank a full glass of delicious Vino Verde and Portuguese Seafood soup, an entire pot for each two people and it was so delicious, I replicated it at home. Back on the Ferry a day stopped at a grocery store where our tour guide selected his favorite vino Verde wines to purchase, along with sardines, tuna, and anchovies. One of the best tours I've ever taken.

Excellent
