Overview
With consistent swells and waves suitable for all levels of experience, the Costa da Caparica, just a short drive south of Lisbon, is a great place to learn surfing. Opt for morning, afternoon, or morning and afternoon sessions in a group of up to 20, or treat yourself to a private class: Upgrade for water video footage that captures your form and shows where to improve. All equipment is provided.

Pros - friendly and knowledgeable teachers, plenty of time in the water, good teacher to student ratio (about 1 for every 4-5 of us), started from the basics and built up, wetsuits and boards supplied, good price, valuables were kept securely while we learnt
Cons - given the group size it could be a bit crowded in the water, one of the tutors didn't give much feedback on technique (although the others were fantastic)

the instructors are super lovely, they’re very encouraging and helpful by giving good advice. the beach itself is a really good place to start out, consistent waves that aren’t too big and really soft sand all around. really glad we went and thank you to the guys today!!

I was hesitant to this excursion I’ve never surfed before but in the end everyone in our family really enjoyed it. The instructor was really helpful

Mauro was very helpful, he really watched each surfer's technique & form and then had lots of tips and tricks to improve your skillset. He also led a great warm-up that basically made this experience an all-in-one yoga class + surfing lesson. Our lesson had people from a variety of skill levels and he was able to meet each surfer's needs tactfully. Would definitely recommend this surf school & will return next time I'm in Lisbon.
