Fantastic experience, such good value! Our instructor was incredible, really took the time to ensure everyone got the most out of the two hours. Such a great price with transfer and equipment hire included. Cannot recommend enough! A member of our group didn't want to surf but was allowed in the transfer service. Also beautiful venue

Really good lesson. First time surfing and spent lots of time in the water after some initial instructions. Lucas helped build me up throughout and was very helpful and ensured I got the most out of the experience. Would highly recommend. Thank you to Lucas and Eduardo.

This is the first time I’ve ever tried to surf. Miguel and Lucas are such wonderful instructors! They are patient, informative, and have such a good sense of humor. I hope to come back to Portugal soon and take another lesson ! Decio is very kind, patient, and efficient. He arranged for my transportation and kept in contact with me often. I appreciate his time and efforts. On a hot summer day go to the beach and learn to surf! I had such a great time!

Great communication from booking to surfing to return shuttle home. We had parents, teenagers and a 9 year old. The water was ideal for all abilities and our instructor Nathalie took great care of everyone.

Would definitely recommend. First time surfing and loved it!!

Surfing the clean, consistent waves off the coast of Portugal has been a dream of mine for a long time, and today I did it!! Thank you Decio and your team! Decio arranged a time for the trip that would be best for surf conditions. I was picked up close to my accommodation in Lisbon, and dropped off there after the adventure. Wetsuit and board were provided, and they were great. The actual session was so much fun. We were just two students, so very safe. The coach reminded us of good technique and had us practice on the sand before we did a quick warm up, and hit the waves. After a few failed attempts, I finally made it up and was flying! Everyone cheered and I couldn’t stop laughing. After that, it felt easy. The beach is so beautiful, the coaches so helpful, and everyone made me feel very welcome. I loved it. Five stars, do recommend!!

Great Surf Lesson, but Concerning Treatment Toward Solo Black Travelers

I took a surf class with this school back in July and the actual surfing experience was great — the instructor was skilled, the lesson was fun, and I genuinely enjoyed being in the water. However, I want to share some things that were concerning as a Black woman traveling solo, because I wouldn’t want anyone else to feel the way I did. The pickup process was very stressful. The first driver who arrived saw me, then drove off and said they’d return, but never did. Another driver eventually came, but acted uncomfortable that I didn’t speak Portuguese and made it feel like an issue. Later, during drop-off, the staff arranged an driver for the other (white) customers and left me in an unfamiliar place before calling another one for me. It was confusing and honestly scary traveling alone. While surfing itself was enjoyable, I also noticed subtle bias in how attention and guidance were given. Nothing extreme, but definitely noticeable. Overall, the surf lesson was great — but the transportation experience and the way I was treated made me feel unwelcome and unsafe at times. I hope the school takes this feedback seriously so solo travelers, especially Black women, can feel supported and respected from start to finish.

Hello Denique, thank you for reach out with this subjet. What you state is a really serious accusation that is your felling and perception. But what you're expressing is not reality, when we receive the booking we inform you that we use a transfer company for the transfers, and we send you the instructions how to recognise the driver. Your hotel was on a non parking zone, you should had gone to where we inform you. The driver saw you and try to call you but you ignore him, and because he could not reach you had to leave. I've had to organize another driver/car to pick you. This is nothing regarding racial, I can tell you that the driver isn't local/Portuguese, so your arguments don't apply here. Please before you make such statements confirm your feelings, what you're doing is not fair for someone that came from another country to send money to his family far away. For the matter of the surf school we are proud to treat everyone with respect, professionalism and dedication that everyone have a excellent experience.

As someone who’s never surfed before, this was genuinely the most thrilling and fun activity! Luis was the BEST, encouraging me at all times and focusing on form while having a good time. Can’t recommend this enough- even if you have no experience, you’ll still love it!!!

Decio was an amazing instructor, he had amazing communication before and during the lesson. He was super encouraging and helpful with tips on getting up and turning on your board. Additionally all the staff were very kind and let us borrow sunscreen when we forgot to bring any. 11/10 experience!

My friend and I booked the course three times in a row, and each time was fantastic! Our trainer, Decio, kept the sessions fun with his great sense of humor while remaining highly professional. We especially appreciated how he enthusiastically celebrated our victories, which really helped keep us motivated. Overall, we felt very well supported. Regarding the course itself, we found the price for the course to be very fair, and we were genuinely pleased with the experience. Hopefully we’ll be able to do it again one day!

Did not know what to expect the price was really low, they ended up being very responsive, came to pick us up at the hotel, bring us all the way to the beach, very easy and relax to put the suits then very very smooth coach and adapted for both me as an adult as the lady that was in our group that was older than for my 10 yo.

Luis was a great instructor. He was very friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. It was clear he was good working with kids. He got our family standing in the surf board with just one lesson. The school also arranged for us to get to the lesson with a private transfer. It was great for us to travel together to and from our hotel. We are so grateful to the surf school. Decio and the team at Surf In including the instructor Luis were fantastic. The waves were a perfect size to learn and they has everything ready to go from wet suits to towels and more. There are lockers there to store your things. Wear sandals!!! The walk from the shop to the beach is over hot stones!

The surf teachers were very patient and helpful as this was our first time surfing. I think this experience was the most memorable for our entire vacation. I almost canceled this thinking the water is too cold and wind temperature was not warm as it is Spring, so glad I didnt change my mind! The wetsuit keeps you very warm. Also wanted to mention the owner recommended great places to eat and was super helpful! I would do this again and I highly recommed this experience, unforgettable!

Perfect for a beginner. Our instructor was very clear about the main elements of standing up on the board, and tailored advice to each of our ability levels. I was not expecting to be able to stand on the board and ride a wave in my first session, but thanks to the clear guidance I did!
