We had a wonderful time on this excursion! We learned so many fun facts about the local mangroves, sea grass, and the wildlife that inhabit them. The mangroves are beautiful and certainly a unique ecosystem to explore. Nothing else like this in the US! Our guide, Cece, was knowledgeable and experienced, and made our time on the water fun. The staff on site were all very friendly and helpful. One thing to make sure of: If you’re booking through any travel service, not directly through the company’s website, make sure you receive a confirmation email with the excursion details directly from the company itself. For whatever reason, that did not get sent to us ahead of time. This led us to be technically half an hour late to our excursion, because there were no details stating an earlier arrival time except in that email alone. I received a call as we were on our way asking where we were. The business personnel acted confused and frustrated as to why we were arriving late, but realized in the end that the email with the details had not reached me (inadvertently). Once they realized that, the tone changed and they commented that this happens fairly often. Something to do with the booking programs not talking to each other. To the business owner: I would recommend updating your listings on travel excursion booking sites to state the earlier arrival time by a half hour. There’s no harm in doing so, and it would surely save a lot of people the trouble if this issue persists.
Leesa and I loved the early 2-hour Lazy Dog kayak tour! Racheal G. was extremely knowledgeable, and her enthusiasm for the mangroves and ecosystem made the experience even better. We saw three manatees, nurse sharks, iguanas, and even got an up-close look at a starfish she netted for us. She also pointed out the home where Jimmy Buffett raised his daughter and took great photos and videos to share afterward. Highly recommend this outing while in beautiful Key West!
The trip went thru the mangroves and across the channel. The guide "short Melissa" did an outstanding job. Was extremely knowledgeable, interactive, and humorous. Despite the wildlife not cooperating, she did everything she could to highlight the natural surroundings of the keys. Would definitely do again.
Rachel is knowledgeable and very engaging! Had a great time learning about the mangrove inhabits and the ecology of the Keys!
Heather was wonderful! So knowledgeable about the area and eco system. She was also sure to include everyone and took time to make all of us feel included. She answered all our questions with enthusiasm! It was a beautiful trip.
Did this kayak tour with my son-in-law and enjoyed it very much. I am not a practiced kayaker by any means, but it was an easy, interesting trip with lots of plant and animal life. Highly recommended.
Nice tour through amazing mangroves. Our guide was great! All skill levels can do it! Highly recommend. Nice to get away from downtown
Kayak for 2 are longer than single kayak and may be more difficult to maneuver through mangrove tunnels
What a great adventure! It was so informative, and the scenery was amazing. Rachael was an outstanding guide, and fit so much fun and info into the two hours possible. We will definitely be back next trip!
Heather was great. Super informative and patient. Learned a lot about the ecosystem. Staff super helpful with Kayaks and the tour went with good pacing.
Wow, kayaking through those mangroves was just amazing! It was so cool seeing all the unique wildlife and soaking in the beautiful water. Our guide was awesome, seriously showing us everything and explaining it all so well!
Excellent tour. Our guide Heather was great. It was an educational, interesting and beautiful tour. We are novice kayakers and it was fine. Our ages ran from 17 to 58.
Thank you (tall) Rachel for the incredible tour! It was super engaging and it was great to feel connected to the local eco system! Would recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about the local wildlife.
Great Experience Great Employees Wonderful Company to do an Excursion With CC our tour guide was wonderful
We loved this excursion! Rachel G was an excellent guide and very educated on the mangrove eco system. We were hesitant since it wasn’t an excursion offered through the cruise ship, but turned out fine. We Ubered to Lazy Dog from the port for $20 for 4 people and then again to our lunch spot. Great experience.
Heather was an excellent guide! She gave great instructions, and very knowledgeable! Take it from someone who never kayaked before, it was an awesome, “must do” experience!
Our mangrove tour was amazing! Rachel (tall) was super friendly and was so knowledgeable about the ecosystem and wildlife! I would recommend being in a double kayak vs a single as by the end it is nice to have 2 people paddling. We will definitely come back if we are ever back in Key West!
The two hour Eco tour was amazing. Our tour guide tall Rachel was so knowledgeable, eagerly sharing information; learned so much about the ecosystem of Key West and all the keys. Will never look at Mangroves as before. Thank you for such a great experiences!

Heather was amazing. She is very knowledgeable about the area and sea life. Floating through the mangroves was so cool!
Great experience on our Key West kayak tour through mangrove forest! Loved it! Lazy Dog kayak tours and our guide Rachel were great. Very fun for all 4 of us (novice) kayakers, and educational and informative about the wildlife too.
What a great day! Bethany was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide and showed us starfish, jellyfish, and sea slugs! I did a lot of research on which kayak tour to do on Key West (there are a lot!), and I’m so glad we chose Lazy Dog.
It was wonderful - our guide Rachel was excellent and very knowledgeable. It was the first time kayaking and really enjoyed the experience. The check in process and prep/instructions were easy to follow.
What a great adventure. Staff was helpful from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone and everyone.
Wear your sunscreen and a hat cause it gets hot!!! Loved our guide and loved the scenery ❤️ Brett is the best!
We had a wonderful time! Make sure to sunscreen up, reapply during your paddle and bring water to stay hydrated! Our tour guide was awesome!
My wife and I had a wonderful time on the eco tour. Brett was an excellent guide with plenty of knowledge about the ecosystem around the mangroves. You can tell that this crew has a deep respect for the fragile biome they tour through. He told us of how important and delicate the mangroves are why they are as well. We had an excellent time, we were able to see a few nurse sharks, lots of juvenile jellyfish and even an eagle ray.
It was a joy to be able to see this beautiful ecosystem up close and personal.
Shout out to Brett and the Lazy Dog crew they are doing it the right way!
It was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend. It was really cool navigating through mangroves. Made some great memories. Heather was the best.
