It was a very fun and cool experience! Got to see what Fairbanks had to offer and it was amazing. Our instructor Josh was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area and showed us how the machines worked, 100% would recommend.

Adult family did the 1-hour snowmachine trip. The lodge outfits you with extra gear so you will stay warm and comfortable. We had gear but they added a second coat, fleece balaclava, and different boots. Great trip and guide. I was concerned that my glasses would fog but it was easy to partially open my visor and keep visibility. Made the experience comfortable for 1st time snowmachine operators and we also turned up the speed. Loved going slower through the narrow path in the woods. Just beautiful. Thanks for a fun time.

This tour offers all the warm weather gear you need to stay warm. Plus, the handle bar grips are heated for the driver and the passenger. The guides are friendly and the terrain is beautiful!

Best staff and guides! Had an awesome adventure and they provide all the cold weather gear! Highly recommend!!

We never ride snowmobile before so was a little nervous at the beginning. But our guide gave us a very thorough instruction and had everyone make a few circles before heading out. We felt safe and warm even though it’s a very cold day. Our guide checked us several times during the ride to make sure everyone was comfortable. It’s a cool experience. If you never tried snowmobiling before, I highly recommend it. You won’t regret it!

We had a great time! Our guide was really great and made sure to constantly check on us. We even got a glimpse of a moose on our trip. Highly recommend!

Second time doing the snowmobile experience and it was even better than the first. Highly recommend any of the adventures through this company.
Michael_P, Feb 2026
Josh was our guide and he was an amazing instructor, it was both of our first time getting on a snow machine. His instructions were simple and he made us feel safe.
We got to do a nice trial and at the end we got to hit it full speed. It was fun! It was snowing pretty hard so we got a really good experience of riding in Alaska! It was great! Thank you for the nice ride Josh!
They also have nice warm gloves, jackets and boots. I really appreciated that, the handles and helmet were heated as well!
Andrea_B, Feb 2026
We had a blast. Joshua was super patient and tailored the experience to us. He found us a moose and took us out on a frozen lake. It was pretty magical!
Irina_G, Feb 2026
We booked the same day experience, and were absolutely amazed by the service, care, friendliness and professionalism of the crew. From having all needed equipment available and clean, to the safety of the snow mobile rides.
Stunning views and beautiful ride.

Had such a blast on this snowmobile tour! Victoria was an amazing guide! Only wish I would have booked a longer tour!
Robin_B, Jan 2026
Neat way to experience driving a snowmobile for the first time! Check in was busy but easy and the instruction was clear on how to drive. After that we went on a fun trip out on the snow!

We had a great time with Will leading the snowmobile adventure. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend.

Thank you for Snowmobiling with us at Rod's.
Thank you for the review.
Galit_R, Mar 2025
We had an absolutely amazing time snowmobiling, definitely one of our favorite activities on the trip. Our guide, Will, was fantastic. He did a great job explaining how to work the snowmobile, and some safety features and communication signals while on the machine (very self explanatory and easy to pick up- for two ppl who have never touched a snow mobile before). We went through a variety of snowmobiling experiences: flat/straight/long stretch where we could get some speed, and small paths through the woods where we could see scenery. It was just gorgeous. And we saw a Moose! ½ way through Will stopped and checked in on all of us and answered our questions/told some great Alaska stories. Honestly would recommend this experience to anyone! Also the heated helmets and heated steering was AWESOME! And their cold gear kept us nice and warm.

Safety is our top priority. We provide every guest with a thorough introduction to the machine they’ll be driving. Prior to your excursion, you'll do some practice laps to ensure you're comfortable and confident on the tour!
Thank you for your wonderful review.

A very nice place and staff, the snowmobiles are new and perfect condition. The trails are easy to go and the landscape is wonderful! Plus, I also got to see some cute dogs there :)

It was great. They make sure you know how to ride safely before you head out.
They made sure you were dressed warm enough. They do provide warm gear if you don’t have the right gear.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Safety is our top priority! Before every tour, our guides ensure that all guests have time to practice and feel comfortable on the machine.
Thank you for the review.

Dogs were super friendly! Our musher was very informative & you can tell he cares deeply for his dogs! Great ride!
Response from Host, Mar 2025

We welcome guests of all ages for our snowmobile adventures. Our current oldest snowmobile driver is 96 years old.
Thank you for the review.
James_W, Feb 2025
We had an awesome time! Victoria was an excellent guide as we made our way thru the groomed trails and on top of the Alaskan pipeline! We always felt safe but opened up the throttle on some sections of the route to add to the fun! Great for beginners. All outerwear was provided; and was more than adequate. Very professional and friendly operation.
Response from Host, Feb 2025
We welcome beginner and advanced snowmobile riders. We have different trails for different skill levels of riders.
Thank you for the review.

Whole family enjoyed much including my young adult son and daughter, my husband and myself! We each rode a single snowmobile for 1hr. It’s very helpful that Rod’s has parka and snow boots to keep us warm to fully enjoy it.
Response from Host, Jan 2025
We offer single and double rider for snowmobiles.
All drivers must have a drivers license and be able to clearly understand our safety and operating instructions in English.
Thank you for the review.
Joyce_X, Dec 2024
Our snowmobile experience was unfortunately quite disappointing. We had originally booked two single-rider packages, but my partner's helmet caused their glasses to fog up, making it impossible to see the road ahead. The guide wasn’t able to provide any effective assistance, so we had no choice but to share one snowmobile. My partner was really disappointed to miss out on the solo riding experience.
When we tried to adjust the booking to a Ski Doo snowmobile package, the owner’s attitude was rather dismissive and unhelpful. They kept making excuses, which added unnecessary frustration to an already disappointing situation. Although the issue was eventually resolved, it left us feeling frustrated and dampened the overall experience.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Safety is always our priority. We can NOT allow someone to drive when their glasses fog-hindering vision.
We typically have guests "crack open" their helmet visor to allow cool air in to defrost the glasses. Glasses typically defog in a matter of seconds with this technique. This guest's glasses would not un-fog after multiple attempts to wipe the glasses clear. This situation is completely out of our control.
Our helmets, and all other gear, worked as they were supposed to.
We do recommend guests wear contacts instead of eye glasses to avoid this situation.
I personally spoke with this guest. I believed I had explained and resolved their issue, and thought they had left happy--with a "thank you" from them.
Unfortunately this review is very misleading and full of misinformation.
Jo_D, Dec 2024
We had a glorious snowmobiling experience (our first) with the folks from Rod's. Every single person was friendly and kind and our guide, Josh, provided for a great ride. The trails were really beautiful the day we were out, the equipment was great and we loved the heated helmets and handlebars. The outerwear was comfy and warm and clean. We just wished we lived closer to do it again, and again, and again!
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Our snow covered forests and fields are beautiful now with all of the new snow.
Thank you for the review.
Ana_G, Dec 2024
When we first arrived in the building, we were “briefed” on the terms and conditions that they make you sign before the riding begins. The lady that went over the page for us to sign, repeatedly stated that we would be responsible for any damages to the machine. Then with an increase in tone, she stated that we would be responsible for $17 grand in damages for the machine and additional fees. The way she approached this caused fear and anxiety before even getting on the machine. They do not offer any refunds, so after hearing the tone of that lady and what almost sounded like a threat, you can either get on that machine and hope you don’t have an accident or walk away and lose your money.
Once we finally got to our machine, the tour guide, Josh, did not ask who was experienced and who was a first timer. He put everyone in order, with me and my partner in the back. My partner being behind me. The tour started smoothly, until we got to hilly ground, and the machine started to jump if you were going too fast. Josh was driving extremely fast without taking a look in the back to make sure everyone was still with him. On multiple occasions, I lost sight of him around the corner or he would go too fast beyond the hills in front of me. Finally he pulls over to walk all the way to the back to my partner that was behind me and rudely telling him “stop riding her butt or you’re off!” There is video evidence that showed that my partner was far behind me, keeping a long distance. He recorded the whole ride and you can see that there was more distance between us than there was between the two ladies and Josh in front of us. He was extremely rude and caused a shift in the whole vibe.
When I asked him to slow down on the trails, he asked me what I was so scared of, and I told him that I was scared of getting in an accident because he’s going too fast and I have to pay $17k. He said that he goes as slow as his slowest rider, and that was completely not true, as I was the slowest because I have zero experience and he was leaving me behind repeatedly. If I did not watch where he was turning, or if he made two turns back to back, I would have made the wrong turn. He then asked me in front of everyone, if I would like to be behind him so that way he can keep an eye on me and we can ride slower. It was completely embarrassing that he did that in front of everyone. Once I got behind him, he would start looking back more often to make sure his team was with him (as he should have been doing the entire time). At this point in our ride, I felt uncomfortable and wanted for the ride to end already. With the way he spoke to my partner, and his speed, our entire ride was ruined. He also only stopped one time for photos.
We enjoyed ice fishing at this location but snow mobiling needs some work.
Even though our experience with the staff for snow mobiling was not great, the equipment was great. Their snow mobile had heated handles, and they provide gloves, boots, and jackets if needed. They will also provide you with a face mask. Their helmets are heated so it’s great for cold weather.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
All of our guests sign a liability waiver before any trip with us. Our waiver specifically states the guest has been verbally told what is on the waiver they are signing. Which a small part is their liability of the snowmobile & themselves.
During our safety and operations brief; every guest is briefed and visually demonstrated the proper following distance between machines. Safety is our # priority. I expect my guides to tell guests when they are unsafe while driving--especially tailgating.
At no point do we ever make someone drive faster than they feel comfortable driving. It is our standard safety practice to move slower drivers to the front. Which Josh did here, exactly what the guest asked for and followed our safety practices.
It is also our standard safety practice to ask guests if they feel safe or are comfortable while driving. Any guest who feels unsafe driving is welcome to be a passenger. No-one is forced to drive.
On our 1 hour snowmobile tour, we typically stop 1 time for pictures. The feedback from the majority of guests is they prefer to ride as much as possible versus make multiple stops for pictures.
The majority of guests truly appreciate the amount of safety that is built into every aspect of our snowmobile adventures.

This was such a fun experience!! I had never driven let alone been on a snow mobile before but this tour was super beginner friendly. It also helped having probably the coolest guide EVER, Victoria.
The scenery was stunning and the weather was perfect. I would do this a million times more if I could! 100000/10 recommend Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service!
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Thanks for the great recommendation. Our simple and effective driver training has guests quickly cruising across the winter wonderland in style.
Frances_B, Dec 2024
The experience was overall great! The staff was very helpful and friendly when we arrived and they provide everything you need to stay safe and warm during the ride! The trail we rode through was very beautiful. Also loved those heated handle bars on the snowmobile 💙
Response from Host, Dec 2024
The heated helmets and the heated helmets are a must have for snowmobiling in Alaska. This keeps us warm and having fun--even on the coldest of Alaska's winter days.
Thank you for the review.
Mary_C, Oct 2024
Incredibly fun! I wasn’t sure what to expect but I wanted to try something different for my birthday. I came here and my tour guide was incredibly helpful and the experience was great.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Snowmobiling at Rod's Alaskan Guide Service is a lot of fun and a great way to spend a birthday.
Thank you for the review.
Yuxin_J, Mar 2024
Terrible trip, poor staff attitude. We spent money but didn’t have a fun. And the tour on their own website is cheaper than Viator.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
We ask all guests to arrive 30 minutes prior to the departure time.
We clearly state (multiple times) that all of our tours depart on schedule. And refunds or reschedules will not be issued for late arrivals.
It is not fair to others (who arrive on time) to miss part of their tour because other guests cannot arrive on time.
These guests arrived 8 minutes after the tour departed (38 minutes late).
andrea_s, Mar 2024
Very fun time riding through north pole and over the frozen lake on the snowmobiles! Victoria, our guild, was very nice and took some great photos and videos for us!
Response from Host, Mar 2024
On all snowmobile trips we stop at least once for some great pics. The whole riding are has beautiful scenery, so it's hard to choose where to stop.
Thank you for the review.
