I took the Red Line from my hotel. Exit the Roosevelt stop & take a pleasant walk through the Museum park. I appreciate the signage in the park to point me in the correct direction. Lots of cool stuff to see in the Museum.

Great for kids and family

Jennifer_B, Jul 2026
Sue exhibit was amazing! We loved the whole evolution part of the museum. Only down side, there was an awful smell throughout the museum, couldn't tell is it was sewer or something else. Other than that we enjoyed ourselves.

Fun & educational

Great Half-Day Adventure

Ann_W, Jul 2026
Great place to take kids. Very educational and fun! Lots to see for all age groups. We always spend about 4 hours with people who haven’t visited before. The 11 year old was greatly surprised and excited to discover the Pokeman Fossil Museum exhibit! There are some great galleries and as a lacrosse (LAX) family of three players, we totally enjoyed the history of LAX in the area “Native Truths.” There’s a couple virtual reality adventures, Gems and DNA displays, and the historic animals to see. The museum is well worth a visit.

Great morning

Florence_G, Jul 2026
Such a great museum, well organized everyone is very nice. Plus location so great we got to also visit the planetarium by just walking to it.

Wonderful but too many camps and young kids being extremely loud

paul_c, Jul 2026
The museum was AMAZING! I had 2 kids with me. The oldest and the youngest 23 and 13. There were exhibits were both got to enjoy together and exhibits one liked over the other based on being age appropriate. I enjoyed it a great deal as well. The main attractions for us were the lions of Savoh, the Egyptian exhibit, Sue and the Gems. I highly recommend going BUT make sure you get there at 9am!! You basically have two hours before the THRONGS of kids, camps and loud people with no respect arrive. The one major flaw is the amount of people they museum lets in and the amount of camps and young kids. There definitely should be a reasonable system in place, where they can space them out, so others can enjoy. If you are an adult couple, good luck with the amount of noise.

The plants of the world

Jennifer_C, Jul 2026
Plants of the world is amazing. I didn’t see this in any other museums. Guest lockers is digitalized and so easy to use. Dinosaurs are unforgettable.

Incredible experience!

Hazel_S, Jul 2026
I visited solo and five hours was not enough for this incredibly organized museum! Learned so much and was so excited to see " Sue" the dino!

Sue

John_F, Jun 2026
SUE alone was worth the price of admission! The great hall as you entered was impressive. Very excellent collection of fossIls and dinosaur specimens.

Making Memories

Rebekah_O, Jun 2026
Loved the dinosaur exhibit and Egyptian was pretty good…the animal exhibit was really good too. We enjoyed the under the earth exhibit as well. Overall it was a very good experience, and memory. Having a schedule of when things would happen in the concourse area would be helpful. We missed the animal cape try on and our nephew really wanted to see it.

Fantastic Experience....

Fantastic Experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the exhibits were outstanding. The only negativity was the cost, quality and adequate seating area in the dining space

Highly recommend

Joanna_C, Jun 2026

Great museum to visit whilst in Chicago, buying our tickets in advance made it so easy on the day to just scan them and go through the queues. Such a beautiful place to visit, and the views outside of the museum were amazing too!

Had a fabulous time

Elizabeth_B, May 2026
It was incredible. History galore. As a toddler, my 20 year old son loved dinosaurs. So seeing them the minute we walked in was awesome. My favorite exhibit was the jewelry of the world.

Worthwhile!

Carmen_L, May 2026
So good! Lots of great exhibits! Something for kids and adults. So much information is available. Worthwhile.

Loved the TSAVO Lions. The Field Museum is stunning!

Mike_J, May 2026
$57 for parking to get into the Field Museum was outrageous! We weren’t going to see Bruno Mars and to have to pay that amount was ridiculous!

It’s a huge museum you can spend at least half a day in it. The dinosaur section is really good. One of the best natural history museums we’ve been to.

None better

Randy_B, May 2026
This is an amazing museum. Could have spent 2-3 days here. The China exhibit provides a great history and of course there is Sue.

Great time!

Our group enjoyed the museum and all it had to offer. We arrived mid late morning and it was quite busy. I would recommend arriving early to avoid the larger crowds.

Kids day out

Half a day is plenty with kids although you can’t see everything. Concentrate on kid friendly experiences.

Toni_A, Apr 2026
The map is great, but I did end up going through the dinosaur rooms backwards. It goes forward through time, so I was walking backwards through time.

Field Museum

MOODYDAVID, Mar 2026
This museum had very interesting displays of dinosaurs, wild animals, and cultures from around the world.

Amazing

Koray_K, Mar 2026
The museum is one of the "must" visits in Chicago with kids. The permanent exhibits were great. We went early morning so it wasn't crowded at all 👍

Too Much for 1 Day

Julie_C, Mar 2026
There is so much to see and explore. Get rest before coming and go see the things you’re interested in first. There is so much to see and experience that it can’t be done in a single day. My kids have very different tastes and we split up. There was something of intense interest for both.

A great learning experience

Brenda_H, Mar 2026
The dinosaurs were awesome. There was so much to see and learn. It was all just so fascinating! Great for people of all ages.
