Our tour guide (Fin) was exceptional with his historical knowledge and answering any and all questions. He was not in a hurry to complete the tour and made us feel very comfortable with areas he took us through. We learned a lot from him and he comes with our five star+++ recommendation. Thanks for a great tour.

Our guide was very informative throughout the tour. He was engaging and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the culture, architecture, and history throughout the tour. Strongly encourage all to attend a walking tour at the beginning of your stay. We were able to play off of his suggestions and make our trip an enjoyable one. Thanks Brian.

This is a walking tour covering lots of areas of interest in the downtown Charleston area. Lots of beautiful and historical architecture to see. We especially enjoyed the historical theater that is beautiful and well preserved with current plays and programs! We went inside St Michael's church with the amazing pipe organs, stained glass and beautiful woodwork!

I was lucky to have Brian Simms as my guide on a solo tour. Brian is extremely knowledgeable and lively, and being a history buff, he always was ready to answer my numerous questions. One of my most memorable tours for the deep dive into Charleston with a highly skilled guide.

Great Way to Start Your Visit to Charleston

    Beth_O, Jun 2026
This was a great way to start our first day in Charleston. Fin, our guide, was a retired history teacher who had a passion for the subject. We learned a lot of interesting things, and he answered all our questions. It put everything we saw for the rest of our stay in context.

    Fin was amazing!

Not a tour but a “Journey Back In Time!”

    Alice_W, Jun 2026
Fin, our guide, was excellent! A former History teacher, & Principal. Fun took you back in time to where you almost felt the town being built, and reminding us a lot of slaves built Charleston. You could almost hear the hustle & bustle of people walking the streets with horses & carriages, stepping in mud, & horse manure! Building the massive wall around the original square block of streets with the “Exchange” as the main hub of commerce. I really enjoyed his descriptions!

    Fin was amazing!

    Sue_T, Jun 2026
First of all, Charleston is SO charming and so full of history! I really had no idea. I’m from Seattle and this was my first time to the south…ever. I fell in love with it! Second, our tour guide, Fin Smith, was phenomenal. A previous high school American history teacher, he shared his love for history in the most amazing walking tour we’ve ever done. And we’ve done many throughout the world! We loved him. I highly recommend.

    Great tour, and our guide...

    Brings history to life!

    Alia_W, May 2026
Very knowledgeable guide and loved to bring history to life! Had a great time learning about Charleston beginnings and evolution of the colony. Lots of walking, standing and heat, but a shady spot was always sought after for stopping. Recommend adding a couple more stops to pick up drinks or make sure and bring your own. One stop is included mid-way but I was already out of water and melting.

    We had great experiences...

I got a D in history, and I LOVED this tour!

    Jennifer_K, May 2026
First, our guide - Fin Smith. Extremely knowledgeable about everything Charleston! Very personable and engaging. He made the tour fun as well as educational and intriguing! Two hours is barely enough time to touch on the important events that occurred during that critical time of our nations birth. Fin brings you back to that time, he shows you actual, real things that are the same today as they were back in that time. I found it incredibly interesting - and I am not a history buff. If you are at all interested in our nations history, you will love this tour! We had about a 10 minute break in the middle of the tour to visit a restroom and have some water at a water fountain, which was an adequate amount of time. Highly recommend this tour. It's the right amount of time and a lot of history is covered.

    Fantastic tour. Great...
