A unique experience
It is very different than other Rome highlights and well worth the price. Amazing preservation in a part of Rome that is different from the rest of the city.

It’s best if you are not in any rush. We were not, we really enjoyed our guide at the site. Our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was like a tour guide through the city on the way to the site.

The only problem is the guy did not speak English. We were told he would point out Rome famous locations, but we couldn’t understand it. He was very nice but did not speak English.

Our private tour guide picked us up at our hotel right on time. On our way to the catacombs, he pointed out places of interest and gave a history of those sites. He was very informative and friendly.

  • Due to the site's delicate nature, travelers cannot visit the Ancient Roman catacombs independently. All visits must be part of a guided group or private tour.

  • Tours and group visits can be arranged upon arrival at the most popular catacombs, but visits must be booked in advance to the less-visited spots.

  • Catacomb tours are not recommended for travelers who get claustrophobic.

  • Cover your shoulders and thighs before entering these Christian catacombs. You may want to bring a light jacket, too, as it can get cold underground.

  • The Catacombs of Rome are not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
