Our guide was Zoe. She interacted with everyone during the van ride and rafting. We had a very enjoyable afternoon.
Skagway Float Tours provided a great experience. The office staff was very friendly and flexible. Although the pick up spot was at the pier, we needed to meet at their office because we had another excursion right before this one that met right down the street. They were very accommodating and saved us a 15 minute walk. We had an added surprise in that the remainder of those booked didn’t show up, so we had a private excursion.
Our guide, Danny, was very informative as he was born and raised in Skagway. He provided tons of information about Skagway with a unique personal touch seeing that his family has been in Skagway for generations.
The process consisted of a 30 minute drive to the site. From there, you get your water boots and life preserver. Then some quick safety instructions before boarding the raft. Danny was a very skillful navigator. He pointed out various wildlife sightings, including a bald eagle. The raft ride down the river was about 40 minutes before the end point. At the end, turn in the gear, grab a snack and water, hang out for a while, and then head back. Danny was again very flexible and offered to drop us off wherever we wanted that best aligned with our plans.
This was one of the best excisions we did while in Alaska. Highly recommend the experience and this company! Thanks for a great time, Danny!
Special notes: Guests don’t row; This is not white water rafting; The water is mostly calm; While you need to hold on, there is plenty of opportunities to take pictures.
Danny our guide was a Skagway’s native whose family dates back to the 1898 gold rush. His commentary added a lot. The float trip was good, perfect logistics & well worth the time & $. I guess I’d pictured something a bit more adventurous, & listing certainly promoted the wildlife angle,& we saw 0 wildlife. Not their fault just setting expectations
What a great experience. We had perfect weather and the best guide. Rachel was super informative and what a boss handling the raft. Staff were helpful and easygoing and made the process of meeting up from our cruise ship simple.. The beauty of the river and surrounding mountains made this excursion a highlight of our cruise to Alaska . Anyone looking for an alternative to the train trip in Skagway should consider this trip. Being up close to the landscape makes you appreciate the wildness of Alaska. Thanks to Rachel and crew for making our Alaskan experience magical!
A lovely, chill way to enjoy a bit of wilderness on the water. We had a perfect, sunny day… so that definitely added to the experience. Excellent guide and support staff.
Wonderful experience one of the best of our trip. Guide Owen was very knowledgeable, team set up was experienced & set us up with all safety precautions. Owen navigated an ever-changing and challenging river flawlessly! Best experience in St all nature had to offer of the TAIYA river!
I’ve done a bunch of tours out of Skagway. Doing the bus to carcross, the train, etc.
This tour was so peaceful! Just floating down the river and hearing the history of the area. It rained lightly and it just added to the beautiful day.
Danny was an excellent guide who was actually born and raised in Skagway. How rare! Normally you get guides who are in for the season - nothing wrong with that! - so hearing from someone they actually grew up there was refreshing. Probably one of my favorite tours!
I had the best time driving up the road in Skagway to start the river float. The team was amazing helping us get into the rafts to begin our float down the river. It was a beautiful day to be on the water. We could have spent all day floating. Thank you for a great trip!
We had a great time on the river float. They provide life jackets and rubber boots. Weather cooperated, no rain. Didn't see any wildlife, which was disappointing, but the river ride was nice and calm.
Not too much everything was provided the guide was on time we were picked up at the ship not hard to find him
Relaxing river ride on rubber rafts with 11 people. Saw some wild life and learned a little about the area. Saw a couple eagles nest. The ride was about 1 hour to minutes.
Knowledgeable, helpful and personable crew. Felt completely comfortable and safe with each of them. Note you’ll need to use the ‘faciliTREES’ if you have to go to the restroom after leaving port.
It was a pleasant floating experience. We saw some bald eagles but that was about it. We did have beautiful weather.

This was a fun and relaxing way to experience the natural beauty around Skagway. The scenery was beautiful, and we saw bald eagles along the way. Our guide, Owen, was knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging throughout the excursion. He did a great job making the experience enjoyable for both adults and kids. The biggest endorsement came from our six-year-old daughter, who declared this her favorite tour of our entire Alaska cruise! A fantastic family-friendly excursion with beautiful scenery, wildlife, and an excellent guide. Highly recommended!
The guide was very nice and super knowledgeable. The float was easy and you don’t get wet. We saw lots of bald eagles but no other wildlife.

The weather was cold for July - low 50s - go anyway! It didn't feel cold (wear a warm jacket - I had a scarf and baseball cap, no gloves) and the trip was beautiful! You don't do anything except enjoy the scenery - no paddling. Rachel was a fabulous guide, and the other staff were very helpful and friendly. They gave us lemonade and granola bars when we got off the river. They give you rubber boots to keep your feet dry. I highly recommend this float trip!
This was such a fun peaceful raft ride. The river and scenery around it was beautiful. We had a group of 7 = two 65ish adults, three 35-40 adults and two kids (8 & 11). We ALL had a great time! Our guide was fantastic!! Highly recommend!
It’s well organized, relaxing and tour guide was very knowledgeable. Drive was a bit stuffy in the van but once we arrived it was beautiful.

It was a delightful and relaxing float down the river. Our tour guide, Danny, welcomed us and made us feel at ease. He was full of interesting historical and scientific facts about the region. It was a special treat to have a native tour guide from Skagway who had insightful and personal stories about his hometown. We saw a few eagles nests, an eagle and breathtaking scenery!!!
Helpful staff was accommodating for pick up and drop off locations. Fun easy going float. No effort needed from you. Didn’t see much wildlife as I think we were in a pretty high travel area.
Awesome trip with Joe the tour guide. Very relaxing. No rapids. No experience required. Just have to be able to sit on side of raft and lift your legs over into the boat. All ages can enjoy. Still good in rain. Saw eagles. Second time we have done this. Previously with Owen who had interesting story about his modeling experience.
Relaxing float trip, knowledgeable guide. We booked this last minute after another tour cancelled on us. It was nice to get out of town and see a little scenery. We saw an Eagle up close. It was relaxing and also good to have only a small group of 9.

Rowin’ Owen was a wonderful tour guide, talking about all the hiking and nature in and around Dyea, and giving us some historical information about the gold rush in Skagway. He was very informative and considerate. Tour was super well organized and we got super lucky with beautiful weather for our river float tour. Was a lovely afternoon.
We really loved this activity. It’s relaxing, chill, and so peaceful floating down the lazy Taiya River. The scenery is beautiful and the guide was very professional and knowledgeable. He directed our raft skillfully around trees and safely under bridges. I’m kind of fussy, and I have no complaints. Really a great experience!
