Great tour! Frederika was a wonderful guide who really made the tour come alive-it was so much fun! We got to learn how the Spanish Steps got their name and then learned all about the aquaducts. Trevi was crowded as expected, but beautiful, and seeing the underground portion was really cool.

Horrible customer service

Jan_R, Sep 2026
We booked the tour and tried to find the meeting location and found the directions and customer service horrible. Tried calling when we finally located the meeting spot and were told tough luck, you’re out the money. We asked for the guide’s number in hopes of catching the tour and were again told tough luck. Not a positive experience with viator

Total waste of time and money

Meredith_B, Aug 2026
I was so excited to do this and it turned out to be an expensive waste of time. You can do this on your own honestly. Its a boring tour with stops at a McDonald's and a mall. We could have gone there on our own. During the mall break we had to wait an extra 15 mins for a woman to go back to McDonald's bc she got hungry. The tour guide should not have allowed it. We finally got to Trevi and it does not include the 2 euro fee so we were far away. The aqueduct is not connected to it it's a block away and only costs 5 euro to get in and you can get can an audio guide for 5 euro. Honestly we would have been better off if we did it that way. This tour was expensive offered nothing special and was extremely boring. We left early couldn't take any more disappointment. Save your money go to the mall and McDonald's on your own and pay the 10 euro for an audio guide and entry to aqueduct. You don't need a guide this was a ripoff.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Hi Meredith, you chose to leave the tour early and, as a result, you missed the underground aqueduct that the group visited shortly afterwards. You also left abruptly without providing any explanation, and your behavior caused disruption to both the rest of the group and the guide. We don’t believe it is reasonable to judge the value of the tour based on the individual ticket prices of the venues we visit. The value of this experience lies in the knowledge and expertise of the guide, who takes you to places and shares stories and details you would most likely not discover on your own, if not by extensive research and study. Moreover, this is a 2-hour semi-private tour with a maximum of 12 guests, and that includes skip-the line access to the underground aqueduct connected to the Trevi fountain. For these reasons, we feel that describing the tour as a “rip-off” is unfair and unnecessarily accusatory.

Excellent tour!

Bree_B, Aug 2026
Our guide, Frederika was excellent. Very knowledgeable and kind. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in Rome’s history and aqueducts! Who knew there was so much under the cobblestone of Rome!??!

The guide was amazing. He know is subject deeply, doesn't have any language difficulty and the tour is very interesting. The only thing that disappointed me is the understand visit. I was expecting seeing the underground of the trevi fountain, but it's not that underground. It still very interesting and worth it. I would do it again!

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Thank you so much for your feedback, we’re super happy you enjoyed the tour with us! 😊 During this tour we descend 9 meters (30 feet) below street level to see the 2000-year old “water castle” of the Aqua Virgo, the aqueduct that still today brings water to the Trevi fountain since 19BC. We’re glad you enjoyed the guide and that you found the itinerary interesting 😊

Knowledgeable guide, minimal time at Trevi Fountain

Heather_C, Jul 2026
We had Virginia as our guide, she was good and had lots of knowledge about all the things on the tour. It was a very hot day, so the “mall” part where you get to see some of the Aqueducts behind the housewares dept on the lower level was unexpected but the cold air was nice. She did a great job explaining everything but even she said that our time at the Trevi Fountain was more crowded than she expected so we didn’t spend much time there, although she pointed out some hidden funny aspects like lizards carved into it, so I appreciated that. She said we could come back on our own time to look at it further. Then we went to the main museum of the aqueducts and that was very cool. She had lots of interesting facts to pass along and you can tell she is very passionate about it. This was a good tour and I would recommend it.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Hi Heather, thank you for taking the time to write your feedback, we’re so happy you enjoyed the tour with Virginia 😊 During our tours our main goal is to maximize comfort, the little surprises along the way (such as the aqueduct at the department store, which is also a nice break from the heat 😉) and the historical context that you wouldn’t necessarily find on your own. While we give you all the information and the stories you need to know about the Trevi fountain, that little extra time you might want to take for pictures and the coin toss ritual is something that is more suitable for when you’re on your own, so that you can do it at your own pace 😊 the tour ends nearby, so you can easily go back to the fountain. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon again next time! 😊

Fantastic tour with Sofia

Catriona_T, Jun 2026
Fascinating tour with Sofia. We learnt so much, but also loved her humour. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours, after which we understood so much more about the history of Rome and the water that runs beneath it. Sofia also introduced us to a wonderful ice cream shop enroute.

This was a great tour and would recommend. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the history of Rome as we wandered through the city. This was a very great tour for the price point and seeing the underground, Aquaduct was fascinating for our family and adult children.

A Interesting history lesson.

Anthony_S, Jun 2026
The tour was really cool. The aqueduct that runs to Trevi Fountain is 2000 years old. Wow, they don't make things today like they used to.
