This was a fantastic experience! Guilio was such a gracious host and guide! He was very flexible with some circumstances that were beyond our control and went out of his way to make our experience great. He is very knowledgeable - teaches photography at the college level. Two people in our party came in with a decent amount of photography experience, so Guilio adjusted his interactions and direction to meet their ability level. He provided lots of great historical context and detail to the places we visited and photographed. We got some amazing photographs of some of the most iconic locations in Rome! He even tried to take us to a highly recommended gelato place to cool off after a long, hot evening (it was closed, but he gets an A+ for effort).

Giudo was great! I had an injured ankle and he literally carried the tripod and camera through the whole tour for me. He was a fabulous teaxher as three other friemds leqrned how to use their cameras and settings for night pictures. He brought us to major sites with unique angles for the best pictures. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone
with any skill level of photography.our pictures came out great and Rome is even more beautiful at night!

I had a terrific experience with Giulio. He was extremely knowledgeable of all the places that he took me to and he really helped me hone in on the composition to make sure I captured the essence of the scene. All of the locations were superb at night. I found them much more interesting than during daytime (also a lot fewer people!). The photos turned out wonderful. An experience I’ll never forget.

I had been to Rome many times before but was never happy with the photos I took - especially the night ones. That was until this night photo tour with Giulio. Guilio not only took me to many of the iconic spots in Rome and showed me the best vantage points from which to photograph them, but also taught me a lot about composition, lighting, and other photographic principles. I came away with dozens of beautiful photos that I will cherish forever and lessons that I can apply anywhere in the world. Guilio was also extremely easygoing and flexible, making the night a fun experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn how to photograph Rome at night, or to just improve their general photography skills.

This is the best time to see Rome. The crowds drop tremendously and you can see what Rome has to offer without seeing all the people. Giulio not only shows you how to use your camera to optimize it for conditions, he ensures he have great shots before moving to the next spot. He explains in detail how each process works while also giving detailed history of the places you visit. He did an amazing job and well worth it for sure. Giulio is wonderful. Getting around to iconic shots at night and getting images outside the normal. He knows the best angles, and while it’s Rome so no matter what hour there are always some tourists, Giulio makes great conversation and provides historical information as well. The photos were great, but walking around with a local was the best part.

This was a wonderful tour! Giulio was a great guide and he generously shared his wealth of knowledge of Rome's history and photography skills.
We covered a lot of distance on this tour and got to see many of the big sites at a time of day I probably wouldn't have otherwise.

This is an outstanding tour that I cannot recommend enough. Giulio was fantastic in sharing his knowledge of the places we went as well as his vast knowledge in photography and capturing these fantastic monuments. This is one of the best tours I’ve ever done—and if I were to only do one in Rome, this would be it. Giulio is a professional photographer and film maker who has worked around the world before returning who’s Rome home. His Italian history stories have just the right amount of detail; his documentary making experience comes through.
He will ask about your equipment and interests. I brought my iPhone and asked for guidance on composition. He explained design principles and for each shot, showed me how to reshoot more effectively. It’s an enjoyable evening and I have striking photos of major landmarks —vastly better than my normal snaps.

The photographer was very thorough. He contacted me ahead of time to find out my level of photography experience, and knowledge, and if I would need to borrow any equipment. I was able to take the time I needed to get some really amazing photographs and learned some new skills as well. Our great experience started even before our tour. Giulio was a fantastic communicator, gave us all the information we needed, and set the stage for what to expect. We expected a photographer, and we got a FABULOUS photographer, great communicator, historian, and a kind man with a great sense of humor. We not only connected personally, but got some fantastic night photography shots. He knew right where to go, when to be there, what angle to use, what camera settings are best....everything we expected, and MORE. Then there was the pesky "camera not working" issue, which Giulio quickly diagnosed and fixed, saving the day. We will most definitely use Giulio again for another tour, and highly recommend him to anyone, from beginner to advanced who wants to capture Rome and have a lifetime of memories.

Well, as I already told you, I had a great time walking and photographing with you on our Rome by Night Photo Tour, as much as during our day out of Rome.
I felt having a good quality time and exchanging ideas, experience, and opinions with a very open and long-time know friend. That is why I always like to keep my tours private: not only I can provide a true quality service, but I can also establish direct human contact and solid communication channel with my customers. To me that is priceless.
Thanks a lot for recommending my tour to other potential clients that want to come to Rome and learn how to shoot its beauty.
As I told you next year I will also offer multi-day tours, in Umbria, Tuscany, and Puglia.
Those will be customized holistic multiday photography tours including also photo review sessions, and a full immersion experience in the Italian culture.

Such a wonderful experience! Giulio was very knowledgeable and so patient with my friend and me. Camera issues slowed us down but he helped through it; encouraging us all the while. We were able to photograph 6 sites and now have many wonderful images to cherish. I would highly recommend this experience!

This tour is exactly what I wanted it to be. We level set by having a conversation about my existing skill level and he taught at that level. He helped me set up some phenominal shots. Aside from night photography tips and composition, I did pick up a few new camera tips as well. I felt like I was just walking around Rome with a photography friend. The four hours flew by, really.
On a side note, Giulio is a genuinely nice man. At the end of the tour, there was a problem with my transportation back to my hotel. Not only did he not abandon me alone at midnight in Rome, but he actually helped me get a taxi back to the hotel. I was grateful to have such a wonderful guide on this night.

Our night event with Giulio was a great experience not only for his expertise with photography but his in depth knowledge of Roman history. It's like 2 tours in one. He has great places to take you to shoot and visit at times when the crowds have diminshed. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Great job Giulio. This tour and workshop is a HIGH RECOMMEND! If you're into photography and have the time book it.

If you only have time for one tour while you visit Rome, the Rome by Night Photo Tour with Giulio D'Ercole is a must do. Even if you are a beginner photographer the evening spent with Giulio will be an evening you will never forget. Giulio's knowledge of Rome, it's people and history, and equal to his photographic skills. Giulio goes out of his way to make sure you come away with images that will last a lifetime.
