This was a HORRIBLE experience for me and my family. The driver left us stranded and we had to find amother taxi to the airport !!! I was very dissapointed and upset !!! FIRST, I am in a forien country that I have never been to before trying to make an early flight from the pier after leaving the cruise boat. All of the other private taxi met their patrons on the pier outside the boat when they returned. VIATOR , im assuming didnt pay the fee to pick us up at the pier ( which the receipt states they would pick us up), prior to coming back to the pier, I had Royal Carribean call and speak to someone to find out where they were going to meet us the last day before docking. They were told right down on the pier in the private area ( that is what they releyed to us). There are 2 piers, 1 which is a 15 minute walk with luggage ouside of side of the loading pier area. This is the area where the cruise ship provides a compliment shuttle bus to the pier. Its a 8 to 9 minute ride. Its also the area where if the taxis did not pay the pier tax, they could not go pass. The 2nd pier is located right by the ship when you get off the boat where busses and taxi ( both private of non private) stand with your name on a sign. VIATOR never told me which pier, they just said at the pier. Now when I scheduled the pick up time days before we left, I scheduled the pick up time at 6 am because according to the ships schedule, we would dock at 5:30am. I was told that the driver would wait 1 hour and 15 minutes. WHEN ROYAL carribean called the day before , I was told that VIator had knowledge of when the ships returned, so if the ships were late. VIATOR had knowlege of it. ( everyone can see if the ships are docked because they are so large) The ship let us off at 6:45am. (Late) My family and I were running to the private taxi area to check for our names and if not there, we had to get the shuttle to the 2nd pier. A 15-20 minute walk with luggage . There were no shuttle bus waiting. I notice the driver trying to reach out to me before 6:45 through WHatsApp but i could not make a call because i didnt have international phone coverage. I finally asked a nice gentleman from Rome and he told me to take my phone off airplane mode. I did, and i was able to make the phone call through Whatsapp. By that time, a shuttle bus had just arrived and I was finally on it headed to the other side by the pier at 7:07am. I was on the phone with a woman explaining that i am headed to the other pier and to tell the driver we will be there in about 6 minutes because the shuttle just picked up. I was told that the driver is leaving now because he waited 1 hour. ( I stated again, that i am 5 minutes away from the second pier). The lady said he is leaving because I didnt answer the phone call. I told this person everything about the ship getting in late, the 2 piers, and not being able to make a phone call because my phone was in airplane mode ( which the cruise ships requires you to do). Still this women had no empathy of any kind. She kelp saying he waited 1 hour and 15 minutes. And thats not Viators problem. I finally said it has been 1 hour and 15 minutes, its only 7:07am, if he got the at 6 am. She kelp repeating its not their fault. I felt Scammed !! I prepaid for this transportation ( over $200 dollars) to ensure i get to the airport on time for an early flight. Im not sure why the lady couldnt asked the driver to turn around when he just left minutes before , even if it meant me paying alittle more. This one situation made my entire special trip to Rome horrible.. I was shocked at how the lady on the phone seemed not to care, even though I had already prepaid ( and that payment included gratuity).. it was stressfull and horrible !!! VIATOR DIDNT RENDER THE SERVICE I PREPAID FOR, and still stated I dont get a refund or anything.. its all my fault. Im very upset and dissapointed in Viator. We finally had to pay another taxi ( at $100 Euro) per person. Shame on Viator to treat thier customers like this and to think they deal with people and cruise ships often is a unthough of. It made me feel like they just wanted my money at any cost. SHAME SHAME SHAME ON VIATOR FOR TREATING US LIKE THAT !!! I WANT A REFUND !!!!!

THE DRIVER LEFT US STRANDED

Our flight landed at 8:45 a.m., and by the time we got through passport control and customs, it was around 9:45 or 10:00 a.m. We got to the meeting point, but there was no driver in sight. I messaged them, and they scolded me, saying that our flight landed at 8:00 a.m. and that the driver had waited an hour. So they had the flight time wrong and THEY were EARLY. When I booked the ride, it asked for my flight # and that was all. When I told them they were mistaken, and that we had wasted no time getting to the meeting point, they stopped replying to my messages, so there we were. We'd been on a plane for 10 hours, and had booked a car so we didn't have to hassle with anything. We ended up standing in line for a taxi and missing our next appointment, costing us $850, not counting the $99 for the car that didn't show up, and $55 for a taxi. Never again.

Great way to get to the Rome airport

Everything was perfect! Enrico, our driver, contacted us through WhatsApp and was waiting for us as we got off the cruise. It was a very comfortable ride and I would highly recommend this service. It takes the worry out of getting from the cruise port to the airport and is worth a little extra money.

Not as advertised

The car was not as advertised. I paid $97+ US for a taxi van whose meter ended up being $57 US. It made no sense. We could have just chartered the $50 flat rate airport taxi.

Easy and nice transportation to the port city

Anthony was eating for us upon arrival. The car was very nice and clean. Driver was helpful and polite. He did not speak English and we don’t speak Italian but used a translator app to say a few things to each other. He had a great sense of humor and made us feel comfortable.

We had a confirmed Rome airport transfer to our hotel in central Rome with Viator for Sunday AM, 21 Apr. On Friday, 19 April, we received an email from the airline that our flight had been cancelled but that we had been rebooked and would now be arriving Rome Sunday PM. I sent 2 separate emails to Viator customer support, which according to their site is manned 24 hours a day, advising them of our time change and for them to adjust our pickup time accordingly. We received confirmation that our request was being looked at and an answer would be forthcoming in less than 24 hours. We boarded our flight Saturday April 20th and when we arrived in Frankfurt the morning of the 21st, we received texts from the shuttle driver who was at the Rome airport for the original timing. We replied to the driver that we had asked Viator to reschedule our pickup time to coincide with our new arrival Sunday pm. He texted back saying ‘sorry you have to rebook’ and we heard nothing further from him or the company. Upon arrival in Rome, we took a cab to the hotel at nearly half the cost of the Viator service. $133. gone due to no customer service by Viator. NEVER AGAIN…

Where is private driver experience . Do not book I’ve ever had in 30 years

When I booked, I gave the address where I was staying inCivitevcihia When I got to the airport, there was no car. We waited 30 minutes back-and-forth with the driver. He states that I only pay for Rome not for Civitevhcia then they wanted to charge me for the fair which I’m going to dispute the charges at the credit card company it was a very bad experience. They waited 30 minutes to tell me they would then take me where I needed to go. At that point I had already found another driver and had to pay double.

Bad experience all the way around

Tour operator had children in background on call, very hard to hear & understand. Day of transport, no driver,. I called tour operator & then called her back. Driver had inoperable car. Then she called & said we had to share a ride or wait another hour. We finally agrred to share on a very tight van & driver tried to get more $$ out of us saying he was doing a favor & that we had only booked for 2 people & only paid $100 (neither was true). Asked for 50 euro more, then 30 euro more. We said no, we'd paid for 3 & had the paperwork to prove it. Most unsatisfactory experience ever from Viator.

Terrible experience

The booking was totally unsatisfactory. We had a change in arrival due flight delays. I emailed the vendor the night before with the changes and requested that they acknowledge. No response was received. I tried to call using the number provided on the confrimation but it did not work. When I called Viator the following morning the representative said the car was at the airport for our original booking, there was nothing he could do and then hung up on me. This not what I expected from Viator. This is our second experience with Viator where the driver did not show up.

Our flight was delayed by 2 hours. Gave notice as soon as realized we were going to be delayed (prior to our flight leaving the states) Only contact was the assigned driver by Whats app. Their response was that we would have to cancel and rebook, paying again for the transfer. Never able to reach anyone else in company. We ended up getting an Uber when landed in Rome (which was quite easy and less expensive). Very poor service and a waste of money.

The driver was excellent. He had a sign with our names and was waiting for us outside of the luggage area.. He took our luggage from the airport to his car and also brought our luggage to the entrance to the hotel. The car was clean and well maintained. This was the second time we used Viator and this limo service. If we fly into Rome again I would use this service again.

Terrible Experience in Rome Yesterday

We are very unhappy with the service we booked. When we arrived at Rome airport and after collecting our baggage, we proceeded to the designated area where limo drivers wait with signs. Our driver with my name (Innocenti) card was nowhere to be found. We waited and waited until we gave up ans caught a taxi to our hotel. 20 mins later i received a text from them asking "where are you?" advising the driver had been there since 6pm. Our flight was 1 hr late from London. I sent a message advising we were late but we assumed the driver would have checked on that before heading to the airport. We texted back to advise we never saw any driver with my name despite waiting around for 15 mins. We assumed perhaps the driver had gone outside for a cigarette because we sis not see him despite walking back & forth amongst other drivers who were waiting for their customers with signs. We ended u catching a taxi to our hotel. The rude texts from them have continued this morning and its really been annoying on the first day of our Italian vacation!!!
