The hike through Silver Falls State Park was absolutely amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed it. Sara was our tour guide for the day and was so patient and enjoyable to be with for the afternoon. We stopped by a small local bakery in Silverton just before heading into Silver Falls which was a treat. Silver Falls is breathtaking! Sara recommended starting the tour from North Falls and finishing at South Falls which we are so glad she did. Although the last little bit of the hike is completely uphill switchbacks, the rest of the 5 mile hike was very pleasant and mostly flat/downhill. If we started at South Falls like most do, it would have been much more difficult and mostly uphill. So glad we did this hike! Highly recommend!

The hike was great, went on a sunny day after days of light rain, got to see many waterfalls, winter falls was beautiful, Carrye was very friendly, fun, knowledgeable and a great guide. Would return to Silver Falls again and it's many trails.

I was on an interstate road trip with friends and booked this outing just last week. We were lucky to be able to visit inbetween rainstorms when the waterfalls were roaring. We also ended up being the only two people on the tour and felt well taken care of. Bottled water and snacks were available if needed.
It was nice being able to sit back and have someone else handling the driving, parking, and other logistics. Depending on traffic, expect up to 1.5 hours from the meetup spot to the park. The pictures online do not really do the park justice. The path included the ability to walk behind 3 of them, and the point-to-point pickup option allowed us to shave off an extra mile and keep the hiking distance reasonable to our comfort level. I strongly recommend wearing layers and good hiking shoes, as portions of the trail near the waterfalls were rocky/loose gravel and covered in water.
Having complete command of our tour guide's attention, we were also able to ask a lot of questions about the park, daily life, cost-of-living, and sightseeing tips. If not for her, we would not have known the 100 cherry trees near the Portland waterfront were in full bloom and she was able to drop us off there instead of the start point. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company and trip to any of my other friends.

I booked this tour as a Valentine’s date, and overall we had a really good time.
The only reason I deducted one star was because the morning felt a little unorganized. A group of us arrived right at the scheduled meetup time, but no one greeted us for a while. Eventually, a staff member checked us in and then left us standing outside in the cold without any updates. It seemed like they were still setting up the vehicle, which I felt should have been completed before the tour start time. I don’t mind waiting, but as a California girl used to sunshine, standing in 40-degree weather was definitely a bit tough.
That said, the rest of the experience was wonderful. Our tour guide was kind and personable. She took us through a few charming towns and brought us to an amazing bakery where we had the best cookie and coffee. We then visited the state park for a beautiful and very enjoyable hike. She joined us for part of the trail before giving us time to explore on our own, which was a nice balance.
The trail felt more like a pleasant stroll than a strenuous hike, and I’m glad we started at South Falls since there were more inclines than declines along the way.
Overall, it was a great trip and I would still recommend it.

It was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide Ana was very welcoming and knowledgeable! We loved learning about the history and the flora of this area. Definitely would recommend this to anyone visiting Portland.

I really enjoyed this hiking tour to see all ten waterfalls in the state park. It was such a beautiful hike, with a knowledgeable and kind tour guide, Sarah, who was keen to show us any wildlife along the way (of which we saw snakes, chipmunks and a shrew). We also stopped in a cute town on the way and were able to see a Bavarian style town as well.

Guide is lovely and has lots of information to share. She mumbles a little bit, so you have to ask her to speak up.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hi Anne! I'm glad you had a great time and it was so wonderful to see that you had a lovely experience, proving that active guests in their 70s and 80s can enjoy this big hike! I suspect that your difficulty hearing your guide had to do with the air conditioning in the van running on the very hot day. Typically our guides use mics, but given you were the only one traveling in the van for most of the tour -- we met a group in Silverton -- the guide had not brought a mic along. We'll make sure to bring mics even for solo vehicle travel!

This Trail-of- ten falls was a 3.5 hour, ten water falls hiking trip from the south falls to the upper north falls in the silver falls state park along the canyon trail after a 90 minutes drive. ( for a total of 5 hours)
We started at 8:30 am for the 90 minute drive before the start of the actual trek at the south falls by 10:30am.
Tour guide Carrie was very knowledgeable about the plants and trees along the trail and escorted us almost half way before breaking off to pick up her van and meet us at the upper northern fall trail head car park at the end of our trek. She gave us clear directions on which path to avoid and’s how to reach the end is the trail with markings on the map. Before we started the trek, we had 15-20 minutes for any purchases at the store on the south falls and bathroom break.
Very doable for an average person with reasonable fitness level. There are ups and downs along the trail. A good hiking shoe is recommended. Some spots were wet and slippery so tread with caution and do it in a small group - we were just six of us- but nothing to be worried about. Carrie gave us water bottle and some light snacks like protein bars and chips for the hike. My favorite were the last two falls and the twin fall which were spectacular. Carry your power bank to charge your smart phone, you will run out of juice by the end with opportunities for plenty of pictures along the way. The foliage and greenery and the falls are spectacular. Reminded me of Hawking hills in Ohio.

The hike itself was fine. I would not call it moderate; it was easy. I was hopeful this would be a good tour because my previous experience with the tour company had been good, but there was a gross misuse of time. We left 30 minutes after the start time and still somehow managed to waste another hour and a half on top of that with pointless stops along the way. The tour started at 10:30 am, but we didn’t actually start the hike until almost 2:00 pm! There was also no time for lunch (it was not an issue for me, but others in the group were frustrated with that). En route, the guide was reading out loud store signs. The whole tour was a little strange. If your goal is to have a ride to the park, then I suppose this would be fine. That is essentially what I did and hiked away from the group for most of it. But if you’re expecting a guided hike, this isn’t it. We were supposed to get back at 3:30 and we didn’t get back until 6:00 pm.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Hi there Jodi! I'm so glad you brought up how easy you thought the hike was because most of our guests do not find it easy -- and it shows that everyone has different experiences. Just as you indicate you did not want to hike with the group, others prefer to hike together and enjoy hearing about the flora and fauna. Maybe you had already learned about all the flowers, trees and geologic forces in a previous tour. It is a guided hike, if you were not hiking more quickly than the rest of the travelers. We may not be the right choice for those who don't want to hear anything about the place they are traveling from the guide, or who want to hike at their own pace and not have to wait for anyone else. For those we suggest a rental car or a Lyft.
I want to clarify a few things. We do not ever get back at 3:30 p.m., the tour returns at 4:30 if everyone arrives on time and hikes very quickly. And the drive typically does take an hour and a half; you couldn't have returned by 6 if you actually started at 2 p.m., perhaps your watch was set for the wrong time zone. I'm very sorry that another group was late to arrive and was so much slower than you.

My girlfriend and I had so much fun on this hike and loved the greenery and waterfalls. We saw a total of SEVEN waterfalls and couldn’t have asked for more. Our tour guides went above and beyond with their service and are great people that truly care about your experience. I would 100% do this again.

My sister and I had a great experience! We lucked out with some perfect weather in late October. Edwin was super knowledgeable and a great guide. We enjoyed stopping in Silverton on the way in. The hike itself was about 5 miles and moderate but manageable. This was one of our favorite experiences while visiting Portland.
Pamela_H, Oct 2024
My husband snd I truly loved everything about this trip. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Portland, the surrounding cities and the flora and fauna. Plus, he had a great sense of humor!

Beautiful, slightly vigorous hike. Edward took care of all the guests very well.
Only thing I would change would be to reverse the hike so we ended at the snack bar.
Miriam_W, Jul 2024
This was truly a great tour! We took the Canyon Trail, which was a nice moderate level hike along lots of stunning waterfalls!
Fun and knowledgeable guide and small group.

Thank you so much for your great review! We loved having you! And what a beautiful day for it.

Hike to and through falls was spectacular. Bus ride there and tour info was pretty pedestrian. At one point, guide pointed out a side of road farm stand that had Eggs for Sale sign and explained that’s where people buy eggs.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
I’m glad the tour was great — I'm surprised you expect such a high level of dialogue for two and a half hours of a drive to and from. With that much time, some declarative statements that may seem obvious will happen. If you have questions, your guides will happily answer them, and then you will find the conversation more engaging.

The experience is from morning till around 4pm. This where you truly get a taste what Oregon hikes offer. Not are only the falls just beautiful, but nature itself is from a fairy tale, at least in June. N if your guide knows of plants u will also get a to taste it n learn about how the forest cares for itself. Plus, driving there was an experience on its own
Laurie_C, Jun 2024
The waterfalls were awesome!!! We did the 5 mile hike and it was exhausting but beautiful. You have to have some kind of hiking experience to do it.
Claudette_R, Mar 2024
Amazingly beautiful way to spend the day! Incredible amount of waterfalls that is equally comparable to a Columbia Gorge visit with a very flexible and accommodating tour guide. Truly worth the trip!
