We had a great time on the Sunset Kayak tour with Portland Paddle. The gear was set up for us and they gave good instruction. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and made an effort to talk with everyone on the tour. One of our group was a first time kayaker and they gave her some extra help. We would definitely do another tour with Portland Paddle.

It was a nice float with loads of history about the area.
No experience needed, you won’t be disappointed.
Amazing tour with a friendly guide. A small tutorial starts this adventure then you're pushing off into the bay. It was an overcast day, but that didn't stop us from seeing seals, exploring wharves, and even going under a bridge. Our guide, Joe, was full of interesting information and engaging conversation. We even received free digital pictures of our adventure at the end. Highly recommend. Would love to go again when sunny, and as Joe said, less calm and the real Maine experience lol.
Our guide was great and did not rush us. First time using a kayak, but was given good instructions for manuevering around the bay.
Great way to see some wildlife with a peaceful kayak around the bay! The seals and birds were amazing!
We had a great time. Weather and wind were perfect and we were treated to great sunset and wildlife (seals and porpoises!). Heather was fantastic guide.
Really nice way to enjoy the harbor and sunset. Did the 5:45 time since that was all that was left but the timing was perfect for the sunset and seeing the seals. Heather was our guide and was so nice. We wore swimsuits- most people didn’t but I was glad we did because you do get a bit wet.
We had a great tour with Heather! The weather was perfect! We enjoyed getting to see the seals and a nice paddle around the nearby island with a beautiful sunset.
Great excursion, beautiful scenery, professional guide, fun paddle, lots of wildlife, awesome adventure
Kayaking was a great experience!! I enjoyed seeing all of the scenery!! I would recommend this tour to others!!
This activity was hands down the best experience I had during my spontaneous trip to Maine! Joe was incredibly patient with me, especially since it was my very first time kayaking. He made me feel comfortable and confident the entire time, and he was also very knowledgeable, sharing so many interesting facts about Maine’s bodies of water and surrounding history along the way.
Calvin was such a cool guy too! He was very interactive and made the whole experience even more enjoyable and memorable. Both of them created such a welcoming and fun atmosphere that it honestly felt like an adventure with friends rather than just a tour.
Everything about this experience was amazing... fun, active, educational, and unforgettable. They both did an excellent job, and I would absolutely love to do it all over again. 1000/10 recommended!

We're so glad you had a terrific experience with Joe and Calvin! Thanks so much for sharing. Hope to see you for another paddle someday!
We loved this tour! Joe was super friendly and the kayaks are well taken care of. Also the staff was really kind and they were very accommodating and kept our bags safe behind the desk. Great paddle, would love to come back and do the city line paddle. We did the seal paddle and saw a few.
do not book with viator - they did not send our reservation to portland paddle and we weren't able to go due to them being at capacity. portland paddle handled this with grace and accommodated us to get in as soon as possible but i would book directly through them and not viator.

We agree that it is far better to book directly with any provider than to book with Viator. And we're very sorry that we weren't able to get you out paddling!
Tom was a great guide and was able to quickly teach us less experienced kayakers. The weather was great which made for a perfect sunset.
Great tour with Sam! Got to go out on the Casco bay and saw some seals and an ospreys nest with osprey in it. Also got to see a porpoise! Sam was a great guide and the weather was perfect. Definitely a highlight for us!

Joe was an incredible guide! He was so friendly and knowledgeable. If we come back to visit the area we will definitely come here again!
Loved this! Our guide was very good! And put everyone at ease. Worked with all levels and made the whole day fun!
This was a wonderful, memorable trip. We are not kayakers, but our guide, Joe’s, love of the the water was infectious. He shared many interesting stories regarding the history of Portland’s harbor. The staff provides all the gear, and you will get a quick lesson and tips. Then you are on the water. Great fun.
As a solo traveler it’s always fun doing tours and meeting all different kinds of people from all over. It was the perfect day to do the tour and the sunset was absolutely beautiful.
Joe was a very nice guide, and very knowledgeable about the area, but overall we were very disappointed in the experience. It was a shorter time on the water than advertised, and we only paddled around in a small area. We got to the area where we would be able to see the sunset, but left that area well before sunset. We spent way too much time just sitting on the water while Joe was telling us about the area (interesting, but not what I was wanting to do). The only wildlife we saw was sea gulls.

Hi Melinda - Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry you didn't have the kind of experience you were expecting. Our guides try to give their groups as much time on the water as time allows, and they usually are able to cover enough distance to see a variety of wildlife and a range of sights. But every tour is a bit different, and it sounds like your tour might have involved less paddling than most. It's helpful to know that you would have liked more.
I hope you'll try kayaking with us again some day.
Wonderful weather, great guide, really gun to explore the fort as part of the evening. Wouls go again gladly.
Joe was an excellent guide. His kayaking skills and guidance were excellent. The pace was relaxed. Even the first time kayakers had no problems at all.

It's great to hear that you had an excellent experience on Casco Bay with Joe! Thanks for sharing, Roberto!
Chloe is an outstanding guide and very patient with us kayak newbies. We have never been kayaking before and were worried about our lack of skill. Chloe made the whole experience comfortable and we were able to focus on the beauty of the landscape that Portland has to offer.
Such an amazing way to experience Portland! Guides are knowledgeable and offer local insights into the city. I will say it was pretty physical, my friend and I are both in our mid twenties with no physical impairments and definitely felt like we got a good workout in. Just keep that in mind but if you CAN do it, do it!!
We spent two weeks in Maine and this was one of the highlights of the trip! Michael was a great guide, we saw a beautiful sunset, some seals swam up to within 10 yards of our kayaks. It was a perfect evening!
Great friendly staff, get equipment and I appreciated the apron. I wish they would have offered single kayaks Our kayak did not track well.
Joe did a great job of teaching skills and guiding the tour. Experience level of our group ranged from minimal to moderate and everyone had a great time. Thanks, Joe!
Tour was great - tour guide knowledgeable, friendly, organized. We saw seals and learned a few things.
Beautiful night!
Had a great time on the sunset trip! Henry was an awesome guide, would highly recommend to locals and visitors.
