This was an amazing day out to the coast from Portland. We had a great tour guide and all our stops were just perfect. We loved the town at Cannon Beach and took our guide’s recommendations for lunch and treats. We were so glad we did!!! Highly recommend this tour.

There is something for everybody, Rob was a fountain of knowledge and we had a blast. Stops were not overly long, but adequate. The inside info he provided us was worth the price of admission, between parking, where to go, etc. Highly recommend this experience!

A great way to see the Oregon coast in one day! Even with some clouds and light rain, it is worth the trip out there to see the beaches. Not much in the actual town of Cannon Beach but 2 hours was more than enough time to eat lunch and explore some of the shops. Definitely go the bakery and try some of the treats.

Acknowledgement of Safety Briefing
When boarding the vehicle and exiting the vehicle to use a three-point stand.
Traffic and transportation safety: Pay special attention at intersections, use pedestrian crosswalks whenever possible and always wear a seat belt on tour vehicle.
Health and Hydration: Tours can be physically demanding. Stay hydrated and carry any necessary medications; plan for breaks when needed.
What to Do if Lost: If you get separated from the group, do not panic. Stop walking and wait right where you are. Call our tour company phone at 503-896-2464. For emergency call 911.
Walking on Uneven Terrain:
• Technique
• Scan the path: Look ten feet ahead. Do not just look at your feet.
• Short steps: Take small, slow steps.
• Flat feet: Place your whole foot down. Do not just walk on your toes or heels.
• Go slow uphill & downhill
Safety & Hazards
• Watch for water: Wet rocks, moss, and mud are very slick. Walk around them if you can.
• Never run: Speed causes trips and twisted ankles.
Snow & Ice:
• Don’t cross in front of snow removal equipment (snow blowers, plows, etc.). It’s safer to cross behind.
• Observe extreme caution when entering and exiting vehicles. Warm soles on compact snow/ice increase the risk of slip/falls. Use the vehicle for support.
• Watch out for black ice, wet floors/stairways and overhead/ falling hazards (icicles or snow/ice on sloping roofs and in trees).
• Never attempt to drive or walk on carpet, tile, stone, or ceramic surfaces while wearing Yaktrax. Take them off before driving or entering a building!
Plants and Animals: Do not touch any plants or animals. Touching them is dangerous for you and for them. Animals carry germs and diseases. Plants can cause rashes or allergic reactions.
• Do not approach or follow wildlife for a “better look.”
• Observe wildlife from a distance so they are not scared or forced to flee.
• You are too close if your presence or actions cause wildlife to alter their normal habits.
Water: Never drink raw mountain water. Even clear streams hide dangerous bacteria, viruses, and parasites like Giardia. Animals use the water upstream, and you cannot see germs. Drinking raw water can cause severe diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration.
Always keep your valuables with you. We are not responsible for any loss of personal items

Itinerary
Your full-day tour of Oregon’s northern coast starts with morning hotel pickup in downtown Portland. Be sure to grab your coffee and breakfast for the ride to Neahkahnie Point, an amazing spot to look for whales and where you can see miles of Oregon's coastline. Disembark in Manzanita where you can spend time on the beach or explore the quaint boutiques in their downtown.
Next, head to Short Sand Beach where you embark on a short walk through old-growth forest before arriving at a beautifully secluded sandy beach.
Then head into Cannon Beach for some antiquing and lunch (own expense) before continuing to Haystack Rock. Walk out to Haystack’s base (if the tide is out), explore tide pools and glimpse scurrying sea creatures.
Then enjoy some free time to walk along the beach, warm up with locally-roasted coffee, and peruse the town’s eclectic shops and art galleries. Your return trip stops at Camp 18, a historical logging museum that provides a window into Oregon’s timber industry. Arrive back at your Portland hotel in the evening.

This was a totally amazing experience. This memory will last me a lifetime. There is no way to express the power of the waves combined with the breathtaking views of the mountains. The forest was lush and pure, nature at it's finest. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Her attitude was the very best. She drove us there with skill and in total comfort. I hope that I will get a chance to come back and bring my family.

Coastal vibes
Kathleen_A, Jun 2026
I had the best time going to the coast of Oregon. We started at Escola And the views were breathtaking, next we headed to Cannon beach and saw Haystack rock. The little town near Cannon beach was so cute we got to have lunch and do some shopping. And last but not least we went to Neahkahnie Mt Wayfinding point, this was the tour that left me in awe. Rebecca was a great tour guide and I will definitely recommend this tour to family and friends.

Rob was a great tour guide. Provided tourist with the history of the area. Gave enough time at the stops and tailored the tour towards passenger’s interests. It’s a long day, but walked away with some knowledge of the coast area. I would recommend this tour if this is your first time in the area.

With every penny - Haystack rock
Bala_s, Jul 2025
This was a terrific trip to the Cannon beach from Portland and the Haystack rock, a long over due item on my bucket list was finally checked off. Tourist guide Rob of Americashubworldtours was awesome with a wealth of knowledge of the pacific north west. He kept us all engaged all through. When the weather was not very helpful being cold and with low visibility to spend too much time outdoors on the beach, he made detour to include a visit to the Tillamook dairy and cheese factory to see up close and personal how cheese and ice cream are made. Don’t miss tasting the many ice cream choices they have. They are yummy.
Both are a must see as well as a visit to camp 18, the first stop after an hour drive from Portland, for its sheer beauty and the very many outdoor giant industrial machinery artifacts they have which makes a perfect back drop for some cool pictures, not to mention the 18 million year old 235 feet tall monolithic haystack rock on cannon beach too.
Do yourself a favor and do this trip only with this tour operator, americas hub world travels (#ahwts). I rate them very highly for their professionalism.

Sheila_M, Jul 2025
It was wonderful wished we had more time at each stop and also the van was way too crowded. Hard to get in and.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
We do offer private options for all of our tours and it sound like that might be a better option for you, then you would have the whole van to yourself and could stay longer at some stops. There were a total of 10 people on your tour and it is clearly stated when you book the tour that there could be up to 12 people in the Sprinter van.

Barbara_S, Apr 2025
Phil was our tour guide and he was wonderful. He brought his love of his state of Oregon to life. His pride came through with his talk on how the state plants a tree for every one cut down and he took us to places we would not have known about on our own.

Enjoyable day exploring the Oregon Coast
Francis_P, Aug 2024
We had a very enjoyable day hitting the main sites on the coast. Phoebe picked us up at our hotel. She was professional and friendly. She shared many stories of the history of the area as well as driving us to some of the most splendid views on the west coast.
Oregon Coast Memories
Linda_K, Aug 2024
Most memorable — walking on the beaches, clam chowder lunch, driving the backroads of the coastal range, hanging out with friends, tour guide commentary (when we were able to hear it). Would help if tour guide used microphone.
Response from Host, Aug 2024
We're grateful for your positive review, thank you! I have spoken with all of our guides about the importance of using the microphones we supply them with. I will reiterate this to them today.
Rushed.

This was my second time taking this tour. The first tour was clearly great! This second tour was subpar. I never received any direct communication (only an auto-reply the same day of purchase about a month prior to) from the tour guide about when he'd be arriving for pick up or that he had arrived (like I received on the first tour). I wasn't told to be standing outside and waiting or anything. His non-verbals suggested that he was annoyed for having to wait 5 minutes for me to come downstairs during the pickup window, but he was very pleasant verbally.
Each tour guide chooses where to stop and what you get to see. Many of the stops were nice, while others were not. The stops that were nice were cut extremely short. The longest stop we had was 19 minutes at Haystack Rock. He chose to take us on a 15-20 minute hike, each way, which was not listed in the tour description at all. Luckily, my mother brought her hiking sticks. Had she not, she would not have been able to make the short (moderately-hilled) hike because we weren't informed to prepare for a hike. Once we got to the destination "Short Sand Beach" we were only given 6-10 minutes to view this extremely short and unimpressive beach. I'm sure the group would have preferred to spend those 50 minutes walking and exploring the larger beaches.
Because you're constantly watching the clock at stops so that you're not late getting back to the van, because they were so short, we couldn't really enjoy anything. I'd recommend renting a car for a day (maybe two so you can view the local waterfalls) and driving yourself so you can spend all the time you'd like viewing the coast and eating lunch. This is an expensive tour and was not worth what was spent.
Response from Host, Aug 2024
The pick up time you received was not an auto-reply. I send those out every day as new bookings are received. On your ticket it clearly said under Special instructions
• IMPORTANT PICK-UP INFORMATION: You will be emailed a 15 minute pick up window. Please stand at the hotel lobby doors and look for a Sprinter van.
I am not sure how that is not clear.
The Tour Guides do not choose the stops on the tours. They have specific locations they must stop at. Short Sand Beach is listed as a stop in the itinerary. You did not like it, but we have people who book this tour specifically to visit that location because it is so spectacular. There is a limited amount of time in the day, which requires that a time limit be set for each stop so that all the locations listed in the itinerary are visited. If you choose to take a tour in the future I recommend booking a private tour, so you can adjust it as you want during the day.
Great for the price.. but keep expectations low :)
Ati_H, Aug 2024
So we were greeted at our hotel on time by the SAME tour guide as we had the day before for our falls tour. America's hub world tour company gave us John again :/
No offense again John but your pre-pubescent voice isn't made for a tour group. The same dirty Sprinter MBZ but this time freezing. Warm bottles of water and no one could hear anything because he had no mic.
OTHERWISE, it was great to see the Portland coast line and spend a few minutes here and there. It's literally just a taste of these spots because you get 20-30 min per stop. I recommend you grab a slice of pizza and walk around Cannon beach b/c 1 hour is wayyyy too little time. Eat on the van lol
John did an ok job with keeping us informed but there were a few questions he just didn't know and tried to make up :) Thank goodness for Google lol
Response from Host, Aug 2024
I'm not sure why you feel the need to be insulting to the Tour Guide, whom you clearly did not like. You were aware that your tour was with the same company. You had our phone number. You could have called us after your previous tour and let us know that you did not want that particular guide again. I'm sure you and the guide would both have been happier with that outcome.
Great experience definitely recommend
