Itinerary
Your 8-hour trip begins with morning pickup from your downtown Portland hotel. Awe at the beauty of the Cascade Mountains as your coach winds along the Columbia River to your first destination — the Portland Women’s Forum State Scenic Viewpoint. Then visit the nearby Vista House at Crown Point, a historic observatory built in 1916 as a comfort station for travelers. Marvel at the unparalleled view from your perch set 733 feet (223 meters) above the river. Next, descend into the verdant Columbia River National Scenic Area for some waterfall sighting! First stop is Latourell Falls, unique among the falls for its straight plunge over a basalt overhang. Take in the dramatic view from afar or accompany your guide on 2-mile (3.2-km) hike to the base of the falls. Continue on to Bridal Veil Falls and Wahkeena Falls before stopping at the magnificent Multnomah Falls. This magnificent cascade of water plummets 611 feet, making it the second-highest waterfall in the US. Join fellow admirers on Benson Bridge — and make sure to take a souvenir picture. Conclude your waterfall tour at Horsetail Falls. Next, continue to Bonneville Dam, a masterpiece of modern engineering that has provided hydropower to the Gorge since the Great Depression. Catch a chance glimpse of Pacific salmon swimming up the fish ladder (depending on the season), grab some lunch in Cascade Locks (own expense) and then cross over the Columbia River to Washington via the Bridge of the Gods. Your final stop is the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum. Learn about Lewis and Clark’s harrowing expedition, the First Peoples of the Gorge, the Cascade Chinook and more. Return to your Portland hotel in early evening.

The tour guide, Eddie, took us from our hotel in downtown Portland to the Columbia River Gorge area east of Portland. We visited viewpoints from the Portland Womens Forum State and Crown Point Vista House. Then we visited several waterfalls, including Multnomah Falls. We stopped by the city of Hood River to eat lunch. Then we visited the Bonneville Hatchery, where millions of salmons are raised and released. Eddie was a great tour guide that greatly enhanced our visits.

Our guide Steve was great. We were a bit early in the season March and the weather was a little cold and rainy. We missed out on the views of the gorge from Vista House, but it cleared up later in the day. Our priority was hiking and waterfalls, and Steve took us on some great treks with informative conversation along the way. I hope the fire damage clears up, because the road closures kept us out of a few areas that would've made the excursion even better. Highly recommend this tour.

The tour was good although by the time it was over we had seen enough of waterfalls. A little hiking would have been good. The sound system was not good for some of the trip but our tour guide produced an alternate sound system and then it was good.

Great tour! We had Sergio and he took us out all day to enjoy the beautiful waterfalls of Oregon, Mt Hood and extra little stops along the way to make the tour awesome. Great way to get out of downtown Portland area and see the beauty Oregon has to offer. Would recommend as this gives you the opportunity to hike and get outdoors.

It all comes down to the guide. Our guide talked too much and was not interesting. I couldn't wait to escape him during our lunch period. Also he gave us 10 minutes or less at each waterfall so he could take us to see water boarders and parasailing on the Columbia River because, obviously, it was something he wanted to see. I really thought we could have enjoyed the falls a bit more, see some of the trails that led down to the base, etc instead of the hop-on hop-off that we had to do. I felt cheated at the end of the day.

Our guide Steve gave us an amazingly personal and extensive tour of his beloved Oregon. We are not seasoned hikers but enjoyed the views and the waterfalls immensely. Physically a bit on the demanding side but well worth the effort. Recommend it very very highly.
