This is a history tour with wonderful Gospel music. Alex is very knowledgeable about the history of Harlem and you will be learning while you are seeing this area through a local’s eyes.

This tour was a great way to start my trip in NYC, the gospel choir experience was amazing! It was very lively & energetic, a key part of why I chose this tour. The tour guide was fantastic, he was very informative and took us on a decent walk around Harlem to see the sights like the Apollo theatre, and explained the local history along the way. Overall it was an awesome way to experience Harlem in a short space of time, I definitely recommend 🙂

Worst Tour EVER!!!

This so-called Harlem gospel tour was one of the worst travel experiences of my life. The “tour” amounted to maybe a five block walk around the Apollo Theatre, Lennox Avenue and the Pilgrim Church. While in the church the 90+ decibels alarm on my Apple Watch went off approximately 7 to 10 times during the 20 minutes or so that we stayed in the church service. I finally decided to leave when my ears began to ache. It was not praise and worship, it was screaming to the top of their lungs into a microphone. I felt like I was in a theatrical production, where the black people of faith were performing for all the white people in the audience. I don’t know if this is how this church makes their money but believe me I did not get a sense of any type of spirituality while I was sitting there having my ear drums blasted to kingdom come! The tour guide Alex left a hell of a lot to be desired. He “white-washed” history similarly to how the current administration is trying to erase parts of Black History. I winced multiple times when he tried to explain how “C-A-S-E-E-U-S” Clay, this is the way he pronounced Muhammad Ali’s former name and the “revolutionary Nation of Islam” were rebellious against the status quo. I absolutely CANNOT stand when an unlearned white man tries to explain the lynching of Black Male GIs at the hands of angry white mob as if they were just having a disagreement. WTH!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOUR FOR ANYBODY! It was a fricking money grab! The best part of my day was when we left the tour and grabbed lunch at Red Rooster before the after church and tourist crowd arrived. Save your coins and your precious personal time as we cannot get the almost three hours that we devoted to this event back.

Arthuro nuestro guía fue súper amable, ameno, era claro que sabía mucho del tema y conocía bien el área. Visitamos Harlem y terminamos en el estadio de los Yankees. Toda una experiencia! El recorrido es en metro y a pie así que hay que llevar zapatos cómodos. Sin duda tomaría otro tour con el.

Ce n est pas une messe gospel mais plutot un concert gospel dans cette église. Nous n étions que des touristes à l intérieur, économisez les frais pour cette sortie d autant plus que l accés est gratuit. Sielnppint positif le guide et les chanteurs qui étaient bons.
