Itinerary
helsea Market is your meeting spot for this action-packed and information-frenzied guided stroll through the High Line, trendy Chelsea, and even trendier Meatpacking District.
After greeting the guide, ascend to the High Line Park, one of two elevated parks on the planet (the other is in Paris). After the railway was abandoned in the 1970s, the elevated structure sat unused and unloved for decades until a movement began to turn it into a park. Finally, in 2009, phase 1 opened and it has been a huge hit ever since.
Meet your guide at Chelsea Market to begin this exciting and information-packed guided walk through the elevated park known as the High Line as well as Chelsea and the trendy Meatpacking District. As of 2014, all three phases have been completed. Walk a portion of the High Line as the guide points out cutting edge architecture and art projects along the way.
Descend the park and begin to stroll the streets of Chelsea, a neighborhood crammed with art galleries, cool restaurants, and chilled-out cafes. Learn about the history of the area before making your way to the final stop on your tour, the Meatpacking District, known for its dining and shopping.

The High Line tour was informative and fun largely due to the enthusiasm of our tour leader Mali. His knowledge of and his delivery of the facts was both entertaining and presented in a manner that both adults and children enjoyed. The tour moved along quickly and honestly the tour leader made the tour.

Steve led us on a really informative and interesting tour showcasing Chelsea Market, the High Line and Meatpacking District. He clearly has a love for the city and the history of this community which shone through in his narrative. Overall a really great way to spend a morning, and I learned a lot!

Long walk . Very knowledgeable guide . Better to be done in the spring when the flowers are blooming.
Jennifer_C, Jul 2025
The guide was late by more than 20 minutes. We asked to cancel and be refunded but so far they are refusing to refund.

Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry you were unable to join the tour. Our tour guide was in the meeting location before the tour start time and checked other guests in. As it states on our listing, "the tour meets on the corner of 15th Street & 9th Avenue next to the Chelsea Market". Also the tour starts promptly at 9:30. We encourage our guests to contact us at exp1.com/contact if you have any difficulty finding our tour guides on the day of your tour.
Thank you.

Ben was an awesome guide but the history and stories he told us were amazing about Chelsea and the High Line. The walk was easy, only a couple flights of stairs (or elevator) to the High Line. Highly recommend this walking guided tour.

Kelsie did a great job of reviewing the history of the Highline, Chelsea, and Meat Packing district tour. She was able to give great detail on the history of this area including the port being the port that the Titanic survivors returned to after the Titanic disaster.

Judy_E, Oct 2024
The tour guide was not on time, not as prepared as he should have been, and did not even ask the names and hometowns of the participants. There was no real introduction. This absolutely was NOT worth it. Jacob, the tour guide, was NOT a New Yorker, he knew only and I mean ONLY, info about Chelsea. He was repetitive, used “you guys” constantly and at naseaum, and did not talk at all about the trees, plants and landscaping on the high line. He was too casual and immature for a tour guide position. Lastly, throughout the tour Jacob was rattled by noise and regular city noises. He was unnerved by the big trucks, a big student group etc. To close, why didn’t he have a headset system for each participant so all could hear what he said and enjoy it without listening to his comments about “how he couldn’t catch a break” when it came to the distractions.
Good thing my friends didn’t know a good tour from a bad one.
Thank you for listening

I liked walking on the High Line, but was disappointed that it was for only a short time. Also, at the time the tour starts, most stores in Chelsea Market were closed. Guide Maki was very personable and friendly. He even hailed a cab for me afterwards.
