We arrived at our 10:30 ride time and after waiting 20 minutes, they had no more e-bikes to give us. Very chaotic. He told us that is we came back and hour 1/2 later , he would give us half off. When we returned , still no bikes and said that he did not agree to half off. He charged my card $196 for the rentals, then again for “insurance” and also for a “deposit”. The bikes were not fully charged and died before our 2 hours were complete. I’m afraid to see what has actually been charged on my card. It was a terrible experience and am very surprised that Viator does business with them. I know that these bike people can be sketchy but trusted this because it was through Viator :(

Dear Sullins Phelan, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take all guest experiences seriously and want to clarify a few points regarding your rental. It was a very busy Saturday, and we temporarily ran out of e-bikes. Our staff asked if you could return in an hour, and as an accommodation, you were offered an extra hour of riding time free of charge. Half off was not offered. Regarding pricing: you actually received a correct rate of 4 e- bikes 2hrs $49/each, total $196. The Peace of Mind Insurance ($6.99 per bike) was selected at checkout, which covers 100% of any damages, and is optional. Because you did not leave an ID, a $100 refundable security deposit was held, which is standard practice. Our e-bikes were checked before release and were properly charged. If you had experienced any issue during your ride, we would have been happy to immediately replace the bike. We regret that the experience felt chaotic during peak hours and will continue improving our operations. However, we do want to assure you that the charges applied were correct and transparent. If you’d like, we are happy to provide a copy of your receipt that details each charge for your records. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope we can welcome you back for a smoother experience in the future.

I had a reservation a week in advance when we got there they didn’t have any bikes for us. I needed three somehow they found two bikes and made our other guest use a regular bicycle and we had the bikes for two hours an hour in both batteries died in the E bike in the middle of Central Park, it was not fun, trying to ride that bike and didn’t want to ride a bike, which was the reason of renting an E bike, so after getting the bikes, finally back to the destination to drop off the bikes they were acting like they were so surprised and tried to blame it on us somehow, after I asked for a full refundthey didn’t wanna do it, there was another guest in there who said her bike also died and said she wanted her money back also. . So basically they knew those batteries were not going to last and they still let us go which to me was unacceptable never rented a bike from them ever.

We’d like to clarify a few points for transparency. Your group used two e-bikes and one Trek Road Bike (a premium option that rents for the same rate as an e-bike). The person who rode the road bike was pleased with the choice at the time. Regarding the e-bikes, we understand you mentioned the batteries died after about an hour. Unfortunately, we weren’t notified during your ride — had we received a call, we would have promptly sent a technician to replace the batteries or provide alternative solutions, as we routinely do for our customers. Despite this, we processed a full refund for the two e-bikes as a gesture of goodwill. The road bike, which was fully functional and used, was not refunded. That day we were extremely busy on e-bikes and had a shortage on batteries and some of them could not be fully charged, but there is no way to tell how long they last. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience. We have upgraded our fleet with new batteries, which just arrived, and we’re confident your experience would be different next time. As a courtesy, we’d be happy to offer you one free hour on your next visit. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to improve. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

Dishonest Bike Business

When we arrived at the store to pick up our 2 e-bikes, the staff was already dealing with another customer who was stranded because their e-bike ran out of power. Well, the same thing happened to us after 2 hours of what was supposed to be a 3 hour bike rental. When we got back to the store, the staff listened to our concern and just disregarded us and sent us on our way. I would stay away from this business! Besides not being honest, they don’t take proper care of their bikes!

Enjoyed our new experience on electric bikes. Very efficient service. Only issue we had in Central Park was the speed of other bikes and people travelling against the one way system. 3 hours was enough for us to go round twice with stops.

The location was close to Central Park and the service was great. The only negative is that one of our batteries went dead and we had to go all the way back to the shop to get a new battery. We were right away in the morning and the batteries didn't get charged over night.

A terrible company

We had reserved 4 girls bikes for 11:00 and paid in full thru Viator. When we arrived, they said that they didn't have any electric bikes available and tried to get us to take a manual bikes or scooters. I told them that since we were all seniors, we felt scooters would be unsafe. We asked for our money back and that we would go to a different vender. He said that he wasn't allowed to give refunds. I asked him to get his boss or the owner on the phone so that we could talk to him. The clerk said that he didn't know how to contact someone who could authorize the refund. Finally, he said to come back in 50 mins and they would find 2 men and 2 women bikes,(not the 4 women bikes that we had reserved). We returned and he charged us an additional $5.99/per bike for the mandatory "optional insurance". There was nothing in the Viator ad that said that there would be an additional $29 fee for the insurance. We had no choice but to pay it as they refused to refund our money for the rental. This is a terrible and deceptive company. Stay away from Apple Fancy.

Great way to see Central Park but check equipment first

Great experience overall. I liked how the bike could be either electric or regular. The only critique is that the pedal started having issues on one of our bikes—I wish that had been caught before the bike was rented out to us. Overall I would still recommend this experience due to the great location and fun experience.

E-bike is best way to explore Central Park!

They have good electric bikes, smooth and easy ride specially on uphills (central park has great hills). Their bikes come with phone-holder, makes it easy to navigate. Also bike lock was handy, specially for bathroom stop. To explore whole park need about 2hrs on e-bike, it’s 6 miles & quite hilly, on foot takes about 10hrs :) Overall good & quick service at the shop, polite staff and great bike. Definitely recommend!
