Great music and jazz history tour! Harris is a New Orleans local and a wealth of knowledge on the history and musical history of the area. We ended the night on Frenchman street where he gave recommendations on which clubs to visit as well as food, etc in the area. Highly recommend!

We couldn't have asked for a kinder, more knowledgeable tour guide - Harris was AWESOME! We learned so much about the history, neighborhoods, & people of New Orleans in addition to lots of jazz history! We started in Congo Square/Louis Armstrong Park and wandered throughout the French Quarter where Harris pointed out places where musicians recorded & lived. He also spoke about the architecture & some of the homes in the area - it was so obvious that Harris was not only a wealth of knowledge but that he truly loves his city of New Orleans. We walked through Hotel St. Pierre and ended on Frenchman St. We would recommend this tour to anyone who loves jazz music & simply wants to learn more about the history & music of the Crescent City! If you’re going to New Orleans, you NEED to do a jazz tour with Harris. This guy is a legend. He’s a true local through and through, and the way he breaks down jazz history is next level, like, meticulous but never boring. You can tell he actually loves this stuff.
It didn’t feel like some tour script, he totally personalized it for us. 10/10, would do it again. Go find Harris!

Harris was wonderful! We got that first taste of New Orleans from him that we wanted. As people who knew very little about jazz, we enjoyed learning about it and walking the streets to see the landmarks connected to jazz. Also, we learned some history and interesting facts! Harris was extremely generous with his time and resources! After the tour we received a text from him with great information about additional readings and resources on jazz, places to visit for best jazz, where to eat and more! We didn’t take the tour as the guide evidently got ill but Viator did not notify us… we showed at the meet point and then had to call to the booking number as the guide was unable to be there… extremely disappointed with the poor excuse that they tried to reach us but no record of a call, email, or text… not ok😥

Second, we agree it's not okay when you booked a very highly rated Jazz tour and was not able to have the experience.
Third, we regret we were not able to communicate with our 2nd and 3rd party booking platforms in a timely manner to alert the guests that the tour.
was cancelled.
But, most of all we are not going to jeopardize our guides health and wellbeing.
We hope you visit our city again and book with TBNOLA when we can present our guides in good health.

Very interesting and informative but not really great for kids. Harris is extremely friendly and a native of New Orleans. He answered all questions posed about anything related to the city. His stories were fascinating and his enthusiasm was infectious.
His personal recommendations were valuable suggestions for visitors.
Highly recommended this walking tour with the caveat that younger children might not find it appealing.

Even though the narrative and information is for a mature audience we have had many schools music programs book the tour because of the subject matter and narrative.
We also understand it could be challenging for guests with younger children to be fully engaged in the experience.

I loved the tour! Our guide Harris Parson is incredibly knowledgeable and has great energy. It was a different experience, during the tour he would play the songs he mentioned, and at the end, you would receive all the information. It was not only a music tour, I learned a lot from the city’s history and culture, which made it more interesting. I’m definitely doing it again!

All I can say is MAGNIFICENT! This is the best informative, fun, and culturally appropriate tour I've ever had. Mr. Parson was absolutely breathtaking. You can hear the passion and love he puts into his tour. He showed us so many things and even schooled us on our history! Don't book any Jazz Tours if Harris Parson isn't your tour guide you will not be disappointed!!!!
This was one of the best experiences we had in New Orleans. Our tour guide, Harris Parson, was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the development of jazz in New Orleans. He provided a plethora of information, not only about the development of jazz in New Orleans, but also very detailed information about the lives of the musicians and the social and cultural influences that impacted their lives. The tour started at Louis Armstrong Park and include a visit to Congo Square, an early gathering place for freed and enslaved African Americans on Sundays where they had the opportunity to beat their drums, dance, and socialize. There memorials in the Louis Armstrong Park to those who were the originators and progenitors of the jazz movement. We also received a wonderful tour of the French Quarter as part of the tour and saw the building where the first recording studio had been established and where the likes of Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Fats Domino made their first recordings. We visited the site of the first New Orleans Jazz Musuem and culminated the tour at the famous French Street where most of the locals hang out for their jazz entertainment. Harris was a fount of information that made this tour one of our best NOLA experiences. We will be back for more!
The Jazz Tour was a highlight of our trip to New Orleans. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. We laughed while we learned so much about not only Jazz, but also about the history and architecture of New Orleans. I recommend that you take this tour early in your stay in New Orleans because what you learn will greatly increase your enjoyment of the city.
