Carlos was a wonderful tour guide. We were lucky enough to be the only ones for the day. It was well paced and it was definitely worth going on the tour with the tickets included. Definitely recommend!

The Best Tour I Have Done

Our tour guide Raphael was wonderful. Not only did he provide interesting facts about Cascais and Sintra but even after we left Lisbon he explained the history behind landmarks, architecture and more. He created a fun and welcoming atmosphere and everyone on our tour got to know one another because of it. He provided recommendations time to sightsee and overall gave my group a wonderful experience. The tour itself was wonderful. Going to Cabo de Roca, Sintra, Cascais and see landmarks along the way in such an efficient way allowed me to see things I may not have been able to on my own with the time left on my trip. Despite the shorter stops in each place due to Raphael’s commentary and the pace of the tour I felt like I missed nothing. I have done a few tours like this and it was one of the best I have ever done!

It’s very enjoyable and so relaxing to have Alex amd Pedro take care of all the driving and logistics. Just the right balance between guided and independent time. Alex and Pedro are a great team. I learned so much. Alex is very knowledgeable and sprinkles history with good humour and pride.. The small group format is really appealing. We got to know each other a bit and looked out for each other as well. Wear good walking shoes and bring a windbreaker even if it’s warm out.

Cool Sites & Guide; Uncool Van

We had a wonderful day. The sites we saw were fabulous, and, luckily, we adored not only our tour guide (who goes by Henry for us Americans) but also the other people placed in our group. Henry was super friendly, fun, and knowledgeable, and he clearly genuinely cared about showing us a good time. That said, there are many companies offering day trips from Lisbon to Sintra, so each one needs to be on their game to compete. In this case, there were two issues that caused me to give only 4 starts (and almost led me to give 3). First, the van may have had a Mercedes hood ornament, but it was no luxury vehicle. It was old, basic, and musty. Most importantly, it lacked AC vents in the back, making the rides on this very hot summer day nearly unbearable for riders in the third row. Seriously, after one long stop, when the van was left parked and closed up for hours, filling up with musty hot air, two of the three people in the back nearly passed out on the ride to the next stop. Second, they need to give the tour guide a microphone to use while driving. The riders in the third row could not hear the vast majority of what Henry was saying while he was driving. In an earnest effort to remedy that, Henry kept (a) turning around to face those in the rear, which made all passengers nervous as he took his eyes off the road, and (b) turning down the AC fan to minimize the sound interference, exacerbating the above-mentioned hot air problem. Henry really tried, but he wasn't given the tools he needed to make the tour the best it could be. Still, we did have a lot of fun!

At no point in the description of our experience is it mentioned that the van is a luxury vehicle. We do mention that it is a Mercedes Vito and not a Mercedes Class V, which are indeed luxury vehicles. We can only apologize that during the spring there was such a hot day and that at some point you may have experienced an unpleasant smell, considering that our vans are cleaned and disinfected every day after each service. Regarding the difficulty in hearing the guide, we also apologize. However, due to the extremely hot weather, we had to turn on the AC, which can indeed make some noise, but we will take your observation into account. Once again, we thank you for your visit.

Alex's tour was amazing! This time, I was traveling alone in Portugal for the first time, so I wanted to travel around the famous tourist sites as smoothly as possible. If you would like to take the time to see each and every one of the palaces thoroughly, we recommend you to go there yourself, but we want to cover the whole area! If you’re the type, this tour was the perfect fit! Alex, the tour guide, explained the history of each place and even the view from the window, so it was really fun to learn more. They also looked out for each participant as they saw fit, which made it a good day! I'm still learning English, but the easy explanation helped! I really recommend this tour!
