Miguel, Miguel, Miguel! THE MAN OF THE HOUR! He had extensive knowledge on the history of both Monsarez and Evora and was SUCH a pleasure to ride with! He was able to answer any and all questions we had on multiple different topics, not only on Monsaraz & Evora. He didn't rush us to the next location and let us thoroughly enjoy our time at each landmark throughout the tour. Even providing us some Easter eggs, such as the stork condominium that you'd only be able to see with Miguel 👀 and much more! If you're a history buff/ want to learn more about Portugal/ want to just have fascinating conversations with an intriguing individual, this tour with Miguel is what you've been searching for!
Being in a car with a stranger could be daunting for anyone, but Miguel made us all feel extremely comfortable and welcomed. A fact that was especially important to our super introverted friend who doesn't like speaking with strangers, but ended up talking the most out of all of us!
P.S. all of us agreed that the wine tasting on this tour was way better than all of the wine tastings we had throughout this trip

A great trip! Carlos allowed us to structure the day as we wanted with many helpful and knowledgeable suggestions. He took us to many wonderful places and arranged a wine tasting and lunch reservations. He gave us space to wander but was always available with information and guidance. We really enjoyed the day. Monsaraz was amazing. We’re so glad we didn’t miss this part of Portugal!

We took this tour to Monsaraz and Evora to see the Portuguese country side and these historic cities. Pedro M. was our fantastic guide he pointed out the stork nests, olive and cork groves, gave us an interesting guide to Portuguese history to inform us and pass the time on the long drive. We stopped at a small pottery shop and saw the multiple steps to finished product. In Monsaraz he gave us a tour of the church and explained the symbolism and how to recognize various religious figures based on the animals next to them, what they were holding and wearing, which will help us throughout our travels in viewing religious art without a guide. He gave us a history of both Monsaraz and Evora, how they were built, what kings occupied them. Allowed ample time to explore and take photos. We never felt rushed.
In Evora, the restaurant selected was excellent, unfortunately had run out of the special that Pedro recommended, but I was delighted with the meal. He explained how the bone chapel came to be and pointed out details we would otherwise have missed and explained the religious art in the little gallery above the chapel. His explanations and attention to details were always engaging and appreciated. His expertise really deepened our experience and enjoyment of this day tour. Recommend 100%

This was a wonderful experience despite the weather. Our guide gave us a complete history of Portugal that may not be for everyone but for us it was fascinating. The villages we visited were unique and interesting.

Pedro M did a fantastic job. He knew so much about Portuguese cultural and was fascinating. He took great care of us throughout the day and got us back in time for our dinner. The lunch place he took us was amazing! The churches in Monsaraz and Evora were stunning. We even saw the Spanish border!

Had a wonderful trip to Monsaraz and Evora. Our guide Pedro Alves was exceptional. He gave excellent information on all the areas we visited. He went out of his way to clarify our doubts.
The Medieval city of Monsaraz was really beautiful. The fortress, views, etc....
Also the Bone Chapel in Evora.... & the museum attached to it. Pedro explained each & every painting and its history.

very enjoyable non rushed tour of evora. saw the church of bones. was expecting a horror show but turned out to be quite a contemplating moment and not a horror after all. saw the temple of dianna had a non-rushed shared local lunch. our guide and driver she was very knowledgeable and personable. my wife was also able to get her shopping done as well. pickup at hotel on time. a very enjoyable day to say the least.

We had a group of twenty who wanted to take the tour. Go Portugal worked with us and we were able to book three vehicles ( three different reservations) through aviator. It was worth every penny. Miguel, Pedro and Fernando showed up promptly at our hotel and away we went. These gentlemen were perfect drivers/guides, leading us on a day of exploration and fun. We asked to add a wine tasting into the mix and they made it happen.. We spent a full twelve hours with them and we were sad when the day ended. You ca go wrong with this group!

Wonderful day at Evora, Cork and Évora including the Cork Factory. I was so interested in the cork presentation I didn’t take any photos! Highly recommend. Wine tasting at the old school was a great experience as well! Chapel of bones is creepy but a must!

What a wonderful day trip with Pablo M. So much knowledge! The wine tasting at ervideira was delicious and the old town of Evora was so quaint with so much history! Thank you for making our last full day in Portugal such a wonderful not often you get to witness something over 2000 yrs old (not restored). The cork gifts we got were really cool too.

My friends and I had a great day with Pedro, exploring Portugal. We stopped at a pottery store on the way to Monseraz, a beautiful small town on a hill, where we had a wine tasting. Then we drove over to Evora to see the the Chapel of Bones and eat lunch. One thing to keep in mind - the cost of the wine tasting, lunch, and chapel of bones are not included. Those are additional.

Pedro our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun.
The only downside was that there was no way to get in touch with the Viator provided tour company so that it was not clear as to what we were going to actually do or see until we discussed it with our guide on the day of our tour. We never went to Monsaraz or did a wine tour. We did have great time at the bone chapel, cork factory and Temple to Diana. Plus a great lunch. We had tried through Viator to ask if an olive tour were possible and did not receive a response.

Such a lovely day in Monsaraz and Evora! Our guide, Miguel, was amazing! So friendly and super knowledgeable on any topic we threw his way, which was a lot. The town and wine tasting in Monsaraz was the highlight! Our lunch was also delish, and we even got to witness a college celebration in Evora which was cool to see as well. Would recommend, but note it’s a full day tour and quite a trek from Lisbon so make sure you account for a full day out. All in all, we learned so much and made great memories and it will surely be a highlight for the trip!

I recommend this tour! It was excellent! Our tour guide Carlos was very professional, but personable and friendly. He made our trip to Monsaraz and Évora very enjoyable and fun! The village of Monsaraz is gorgeous! We went all the way to the top of the castle for spectacular views of the Alentejo. We enjoyed lunch on the village and also visited a wine store. Évora is a medieval town with so much to be seen. The infamous Chapel of Bones made me feel emotional! I’ll never forget it!
It was truly a unforgettable tour!

This tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide Miguel was great. He picked us up at our hotel on time and drove us initially to Monsaraz in a comfortable Audi. (He's a skilled and safe driver as well.) The sites and histories in and around both Monsaraz and Evora are fascinating, and Miguel did a wonderful job sharing his knowledge with us. The quality of the wine tasting experience we had may have been our best ever, and the scenic lunch in Mosaraz (both for separate but very reasonable charges) was another highlight. Our driver / guide was very informative on the history and customs in each of the areas that we visited. We would recommend to anyone. The only part of our day that was not exceptional would be the restaurant that we ate at. The food was ok but service was extremely slow. Even though view was good over valley, I would recommend eating elsewhere.

Our tour guide, Miguel, was amazing; extremely knowledgeable in the history of the town Evora, Portugal and customized our experience based on what our passions where. We wanted to highlight some of the history, enjoy the local food and shop the local stores. In the 8.5 hours we were together, we felt like we saw so much in very little time. Hands down, the Chapel of bones and the story behind it will not only give you the creeps but be your favorite part of this trip. I would highly recommend booking this tour and requesting Miguel.

The advantage of a private excursion is to have the guide for yourself and have him adapt the day according to our needs. We wanted to see as much as possible and he made us some great offers. We started the day with the castle of Monseraz which was quite a detour for him. It was a nice place. Then we spent the rest of our day in Evora. We saw the Roman temple, the basilica, the charming little streets and the chapel of bones. Our guide is called Valerio and he is very professional. We recommend him.

This was a perfect way to spend a day exploring the areas east of Lisbon. Our guide, Sonia, was so professional and friendly that we left the tour feeing we had made a friend. As this was a private tour she started by asking how we preferred to spend our time and what kinds of things we preferred to see. Based on our preferences she put together a catered itinerary that made us fall in love with the region.

We absolutely enjoyed our day with Sonja from the time she picked us up from our hotel, she made us feel like family already. Our private van was clean and comfortable. Sonja asks what the group’s preference is and plans the day to make sure we got to see what we wanted to see. The lunch spot she recommended was fantastic! Sonia with Go Portugal! was awesome. She arrived as scheduled and was very pleasant. She had great stories that helped bring the information to life. She is a true Gem. She realized that my husband wears hearing aids and had a unique ability to make sure she was looking at him when she spoke so he would hear all of the wonderful information. If you want a tour that makes you feel like you have a friend guiding you, then this tour is for you. Evora was a great historic village, and you must not miss the Chapel of the Bones. When our tour was over I hugged Sonia, because it felt like I was saying good bye to a friend. Great tour, wonderful guide

Our comments could be a result in us not investigating the particular details adequately, but we were disappointed in this tour in some respects. Firstly we knew there would be a lot of travel time required due to the distances but expected that along the way there would be one or two specific points of interest/brief stops possibly, to add to the experience. Our guide was very friendly with a wealth of information but we felt that at each venue, the tour lacked structure and was more geared to letting us wander and to decide what we wanted to do/see and waited for our questions rather than leading us with information. Given the travel time out of a long day, touring time is at a premium but a lunch reservation with lunch, water or a snack not included, proved to be a too long and unsatisfying distraction. While the venues visited are excellent and warrant a day trip for those with the time, we would look into other ways of doing so in order to better suite our particular expectations.
