Yes. Expensive. But worth a value 5 X the cost. The solitude, the expansive terrain, the deafening silence are life changing! The best experience that Alaska has to offer. Unbelievably moving. This is the excursion you must experience.

This excursion is outstanding. The pictures do not do the breathtaking scenery justice. We landed on a glacial lake and explored a bit and then traveled around the Misty Fjords. Don’t hesitate to do this. It’s worth every penny!!

Pick-up location is the Liquid Sunshine Gauge located outside the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau building on Cruise Ship Berth 2.

Itinerary

Make your way to the pickup point by the cruise port in Ketchikan, from where you’ll be transferred to the airport, about a 15-minute drive away. After meeting your pilot and listening to the safety briefing, hop aboard the small 6-passenger seaplane and take off for a thrilling 2-hour flight over the Misty Fjords National Monument.

Soar over the vast wilderness area, which can only be reached by air or sea, and enjoy a magnificent aerial view over the remote Alaskan landscapes from your guaranteed window seat. Listen as your pilot points out natural landmarks and provides insight into the region’s unique geology as you fly over islands, mountains, and coast.

Before returning to Ketchikan, you’ll also make a thrilling water landing, floating on a freshwater or saltwater fjord for about 30 minutes.

After the flight, you’ll be transferred back to Ketchikan cruise port, where your tour ends.

What a fabulous experience. When we arrived, it was really foggy. They communicated clearly and often. Once we made it to the pick up point, they stated that we would have to go through a different side because of weather and gave us the option to back out. So glad that we didn’t. We were taken to waterfalls and Michele our pilot was fabulous. I was really nervous because of turbulence, but it wasn’t bad and they play music that is soothing like Sorin from Disney (if you’ve ever experienced), which was calming. If you’re on the fence, I am 100% recommend.

Our pilot, Michelle, is one of the few who will land the plane in a lake while on the tour. This was a unique experience in such a pristine place. Michelle was very professional, informative and accommodating. She explained the areas that we were viewing. She talked about the Tongass Forest, the trees, the mountains, the waterways. She talked about her plane and how she became a bush pilot. She was happy to take our pictures when we landed on the lake. I would highly recommend this tour.

We didn’t get to go on the tour. It was raining and I also scheduled for wrong day. The $2,100 was not refunded so just be aware if you make a mistake or there’s bad weather, your money is not refunded.

We are very sorry you were unable to fly with us. Please see below for the events as they actually transpired, we have email proof to back this up. • July 27th, 2024 - The day you made your reservation through Viator for the Misty Fjords for Friday September 6th, 2024 at 7:45AM. We held your reservation, foregoing all other reservations for this time slot for six weeks! • Wednesday September 4th, 2024 - The day you contacted us to tell us the following: “Hello. I have reservations for Friday at 7:45 but I messed up the day. We will be in Ketchikan tomorrow. Is there a way to go tomorrow morning or get a refund? Really hoping there is an opening tomorrow. Our whole plan has been wrong for each day. I’m so sorry.” • Wednesday September 4th, 2024 – Our reply to you: “Thank you for reaching out. I am very sorry to say that we do not have space open tomorrow while you are here in port. We do have a 14 day in advance cancellation policy for direct bookings, Viator however has a zero refund policy as a 3rd party booking agency.” • Thursday September 5th 2024 – The day you were actually in Ketchikan, our tours were sold out completely, however, it was a weather day and we refunded all of our customers for a weather cancellation. • Friday September 6th 2024 – The day you booked a flightseeing tour with us was a beautiful day and we were able to fly all of our tours. We were not able to resell your seats at such short notice however and we lost that revenue due to your error in making the reservation for the wrong day. Again if you had booked with us directly we have a 14 day, no questions asked, advance cancellation policy. This gives us time to resell the seats. You tried to cancel the flight 48 hours before the reservation. Viator, however, has a no refund policy period, except for weather. The day of your reservation, Friday September 6th was a beautiful day and we would have taken you on a spectacular flight if you had been in Ketchikan, per your reservation on that day. We did try to re-sell your seats, but this is often impossible due to it being last minute. We would have much preferred to take you flying.

We actually have no experience to review because either Viator booked us when there was no room (that’s what the Seaplane person said), or the Seaplane place overbooked or made a mistake and didn’t own up to it. So here we were, six of us, up early and ready to meet our excursion person only to find out it wasn’t happening. A refund was processed and we got it, but I’ll give everyone fair warning. Even though I received confirmation from Viator, I should have called the actual tour company to confirm or I should have booked with the seaplane company directly. Very disappointing to miss what I expect would have been an amazing experience.

My wife and I had taken this tour 14 years ago and were so impressed with the sights and experience. We went back on this with our 16 year old grandson. He was truly amazed at the flight and sights. The best ever he said. Our pilot, Adam, did an outstanding job of not only getting us there and back without ever feeling apprehensive, but also about explaining the sights as we went. He was most helpful, friendly and informative the whole trip and especially on the lake landing. Michele, the owner and pilot of second plane to lake, even came over and sat with my wife and talked about the trip. A great memorable experience.
