The tour guide was great and very informative. Just remember you will do a lot of walking about a 1 1/2 miles and you don’t end up where you started. Theres really nothing about it being a ghost tour. So don’t think you’re going to get scared of anything. I wouldn’t recommend it because everything that was mentioned could have been googled and looked up.
Amazing tour in downtown Chicago. Max was such a great tour guide! Great balance of history and some ghost stories mixed in! Max was very knowledgeable about the city’s history! Definitely one of the top five best tours we’ve taken in the US!

Our guide was Chris and he was great. He was informative and engaging. He ensured everyone was accounted for during the tour as the streets of Chicago can be very busy.
Great tour and learned new things. I only gave a lower rating, because some of the info was not correct.
Details of events shared were inaccurate. Tanner was very engaging and great story teller; needs to convey facts. I.e. Capone did not kill big Jim, they hired a hitman out of NY to come in and do the job. Also, 844 died on the western electric vacation on the Chicago river, not thousands.
Extremely Disappointing — Not a “Gangsters” Tour at All
I was extremely disappointed with the Chicago Gangsters and Ghosts Walking Tour. This experience was not professional at all and absolutely did not live up to what was advertised.
If you are expecting an interesting Chicago gangster experience, this is not it. The tour was basically focused on ghosts, with very little meaningful gangster history or storytelling. Calling this a “Gangsters and Ghosts” tour was very misleading based on the experience we received.
What bothers me most isn’t even the money. I was hosting friends visiting Chicago from California, and I chose this tour because I wanted to give them a fun, memorable Chicago experience. Instead, I felt embarrassed that I brought my guests to something so poorly delivered.
I honestly feel robbed—not because of the ticket price, but because of the time and opportunity wasted while hosting people visiting our city. Chicago has an incredible gangster history, and this tour could have been so much better.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, I cannot recommend this tour.
Our tour guide Max was outstanding, with so much energy and knowledge. We learned a lot and we had a blast!!!
Really covers ghosts and tragedies and not much about gangsters guide was entertaining and knowledgeable
It was a good walk around downtown. Caroline was great, showed us some highlights of the city and was excited to share the darker stories.
