The drivers do a great job telling about everything DC . Great opportunity to see all the major landmarks . The walk to Washington monument is long and if u don’t have tickets to go to top there are plenty of photo ops from a distaance. Same with whitehouse as they can be seen and good photos taken from the other stops. A nice day tour.

Had three drivers and they were all informative and entertaining. Great experience on the trolley, like always. I buy tickets every time I come to DC. Convenient and inexpensive way to get around. I do wish you would run the trolley longer, past 4 pm.

Get details about the stops before you get off. Once I got off, wasn't able to catch another one. Total waste of money

Singing up on line was difficult once i put in my credit card they confirmed my purchase but i was not able to get the tickets It had me signing in other programs which i had difficulty doing because im not savey with online stuff. Also the web site had no directions on where to go to get on the tram. I had to call the 888 number the girl was nice she said to go to union station but by that time it was to late to make last tour We never got to do the tour and spent $130 for nothing whick was very upsetting. If you could do anything for me on that i would appreciate it but. No refunds Also unfortunately it was the day before the Grand Prix so most of the roads were closed

The Hop On Hop Off Trolley was the perfect thing to do with my granddaughters. They had never been to DC before, so it was a nice overview of all the sites. I highly recommend and our driver, Rashad, was awesome!

Best in DC

We enjoyed our day on the buses. Tiny was a great driver !! Full of knowledge. Arlington was also great to visit.

Where was the bus?

Karen_C, Aug 2026
We were not informed about the disruption in schedule due to the upcoming Gand prix presentations. We only took the bus once but ended up having to walk about 5 miles because we couldn’t find the trolley stops at the sites we wanted to see. It ended up being the most expensive 15 minute bus ride I have ever had. I suggest giving vouchers to be able to use the trolley another date to make up for the issue. Also, there should have been notifications about the schedule disruption up front when reservations were taken with an alternate map with the new stops published. That would have solved much of the problem.

Worst travel experience

Barbara_M, Aug 2026
Booked tickets for the hop on jop off Trolkey in Washington, DC through viator. Was never told there was a Grand Prix race through the streets of DC this coming weekend. The main streets were closed such as Constitution Avenue. No notification was received by either text or by email. Had to call the trolley who said they would send a driver to take us to a stop......we waited in the heat but no one showed. Several trolleys past right by us. The trolley company directed us to viator for a refund. Viator did obtain the refund as per the email I received.

Normally great, but horrible this time.

Celeste_S, Aug 2026
First I want to say that we have done a tour here before (same company) and it was wonderful. Unfortunately they were setting up for the Grand Prix and as a result the experience this was absolutely awful. I wish we had known it would have affected the tour or we never would have paid almost $300 to do this. We spent truly more time not moving and having people beep at us than we saw any monuments or landmarks. The poor tour guide didn’t know how to fill in massive gaps between stops so we all just sat there in silence for 20 minutes at a time. 2 of my kids fell asleep. Unfortunately it was just extremely boring. Normally it takes about an hour and a half to get around all the stops if you stay on the trolly, after 2.5 hours we still hadn’t seen all the stops and we never got off. We LOVE these kinds of tours and it was really unfortunate that this was such a disappointment, especially because my kids are old enough now that they don’t remember all the good ones we have been on, just the one that was painfully boring. Anyway… if you’re reading this and there are no major events happening, this is a great tour. If there is a major event…. I’d suggest a walking tour, you will literally see more and quicker if you walk. (Not kidding).

Great tour with informative guide/ driver. We loved being able to get on and off the ride and explore/ sightsee at our own pace.

Better communication

I wish that we had been notified about all of the street closures which caused stops to be unavailable

Great experience

East way to see all of the monuments and sites without having to worry about parking or directions around DC !

I’d recommend!

Katie_M, Aug 2026
Great tour bus and guides. We had “Tiny” for most of the day (we had gotten on and off a couple of times to see some sites, you’ll have a couple of different drivers). Tiny was fantastic, knowledgeable, a great driver and made the tour experience enjoyable! The full loop is about 1.5 hours and goes by pretty quickly!

It was very informative and gave you an overall picture of where you were. I would do it early on in your trip.

The Viator information...

Cristi_H, Aug 2026
The Viator information needs to include exact pick up points, starting and ending times and frequency of pick up. Remember in the summer there’s no air conditioning and it’s pretty hot. I have used hop on hop off before but wasn’t super happy about it this time.

Awesome experience

Paul_S, Aug 2026
Did not need to wait long between drop off and pickup. Drivers were very informative and funny. A very positive experience.

One Day Trip Must Do

Catherine_H, Aug 2026
Duke and EJ were great guides giving both historical and personal opinion information on each of the stops. Both were patient with those needing extra time to get on and off. The narration was clear and easy to understand. We parked at Union Station and hopped on right there. Convenient for a quick trip to DC.

We had to wait because the buses were too full. We had to wait about 40 minutes which was difficult for my 83 year old mom.

Great tour and fantastic guide

April_C, Jul 2026
We really liked the bus. It was covered and lots of windows for a nice breeze. The guide was fantastic. I think her name was Birdie. Lots of info I never knew. I would highly recommend this tour!

I was impressed with the number of stops we made along the way. The drivers/guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They were accommodating for my mom’s walker. We weren’t able to get off at all of the places we stopped at, so I reserved a second trip for the next day. I highly recommend this way around to see the capital if you have a member of your party with a disability.

Fantastic tour!!

Suzanne_S, Jul 2026
The drivers are so kind and polite!! They narrate the tour and add interesting trivia also!! Fantastic way to see the city!!

Great way to see DC

Amy_D, Jul 2026
This is an open air trolly bus with first come first come seating. The seats are comfortable and the operators are knowledgeable & friendly . My suggestion would be to ride the trolley through each stop before getting off to see anything in particular as once to get in the museums, you lose track of time. The trolleys run from 9 am - 4pm. This way you get to drive by everything and the driver will give you a brief history of everything you see. Shout out to Rooster & Tiny! They were great. Trolleys were clean and have raised seating so you can see from your seats in most directions. Truly enjoyed this tour.

DC narrated tour

Make note of where the hop off spot is if you plan to hop on at that location later. Pay attention to the hop off locations near the selected places you want to see for sure.

Great way to tour the city! Drivers/Tour Guides were Excellent, very professional and humorous! If we are in DC, I would take to the trolley again!

Best way to see DC!

Alexandra_D, Jul 2026
This is a great way to see DC. The drivers are fun, our favorite was Meg she's fantastic, and they'll tell you everything about everything. The price is worth it and because there's just so many things to do and see, it's easier to choose as you go rather than figuring out how to go on your own. It was so hot and there were large groups also using the trolly, so it was sometimes hard to find room to get on, you may have longer wait times which is tough. Some stops let more people off than others, so if you try getting on at a stop that's not as popular, you won't get a seat and you'll have to wait. The Capital, the Jefferson/Lincoln memorial and the White House welcome center are good for moving people as well as Ford's Theater. We were a group of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 13yrs old) and we loved it except one of my kids had enough and was hot and hungry, so the white house stop was good for grabbing a drink nearby and cooling off in the White House welcome center and gift shop. We did decide that if the trolly didn't have room for us after that we were going to Uber, but there was room and we didn't get off again. Regardless of how tough it can be getting on the trolly, this is still the best way to see the sights and we're definitely going to go again. The price is good and you'll have the opportunity to get to all the places you want to see. We drove in and parked at Union Station which is stop number 1 for the trolly and everything went smoothly. I definitely recommend this trolly tour for the friendliness, knowledgeability and ease of travel. Bring some water and small snacks but remember that you can't bring any of that in to the buildings if you're going to go inside for a tour or to see a museum. 100 percent recommend!

Good tour, execution needs improvement

Phil_H, Jul 2026
Positives are the route and the sights. Negatives are the inability to "hop on" due to limited capacity. Had to wait at one stop for 50 minutes because 2 consecutive trolleys were too full to board. At that point, we felt that the tour should be renamed "hop off, stay off". Have done these in several other cities and unfortunately, the tour guides in DC were the worst that we've experienced. Duke was good, enjoyed the time we spent in his trolley. Big K was not so good. It would seem that an important attribute for a guide would be to be able to communicate clearly. Big K seemed like a nice person who gives a decent effort but many on our trolley we're commenting that we couldn't understand what she was saying.

Informative and convenient

Lynne_L, Jul 2026
It was great to be able to get on and off when I wanted to explore something, but it was just as enjoyable to listen to our driver Duke tell us about the city and some of the museums.

Directionally Challenged.

Jennine_A, Jul 2026
Getting around Washing DC is very difficult if you've never been there before. Love the Hop On Hop Off (HOHO) concept but.... Our biggest problem was when we opened the HOHO map, we could see where the stops were but could NOTE tell where WE are on the map. Flipping between the HOHO map and regular Maps was extremely difficult. Also found that the stops were not well marked. Woud recommend with caution.

Good Experience

Jerome_M, Jul 2026
Knowledgeable tour guide. The location for picking up the tour was easy to find. The tour bus makes seeing DC fun.
