The Old Towne Trolley was extremely informative. Was a fast way to tour the city and determine what you want to hop off and see. Guide had a wealth of knowledge that was interesting and gave back story to many of the cites and places that I had never heard about. Great way to see the major cites of the city. Easy to find and easy to navigate

It was so nice to be able to hop on the bus at our leisure. A lot of the stops were in some really nice sight seeing areas, so we had a nice balance of walking around to sight see and then hopping on the bus to get to another part of town. The live map was also so helpful and the drivers were so friendly.

Day in DC

Cindy_F, May 2026
Wonderful way to get around the city and see the sights. Drivers on trolleys are friendly and very informative. Good for those with mobility issues also.

Viator Failed to Communicate.

Michael_S, May 2026
The experience and the guides are great. Viator failed to tell me that the tour would be closed for a half day due to a race and still charged me full price. So be sure to make sure there’s no major events that might disrupt the experience. Otherwise, the guides are knowledgeable and there are plenty of the trolleys to make sure you always have a ride without waiting too long.

A leisurely way to get around!

The BEST way to see DC!

Jane_W, May 2026
Each day our trolley driver filled us with so much information we couldn’t take it all in! They were fabulous while taking us throughout the area safely! I highly recommend using the trolleys while visiting this wonderful city !

Great Experience

Patti_L, May 2026
Staff is very friendly and pick up's were right on time. Sights shown from the trolley were great even if you didnt hop off at that spot.

Inessa_K, Apr 2026
Who though it would be a great idea for driver to lead a narrative and drive a bus? How it could be safe? Drivers have to split their attention between the traffic (heavy at times) and remembering to say all the right words at the right time. In addition, one of the drivers spoke so fast, I could hardly catch a word. I would rather prefer to have a headset with a professional narrator, and a driver concentrating on driving a bus. The only great thing about this tour is an app that allows you to see where the buses are at any given moment. That was the reason I chose this operator, instead of the Big Bus. Could not find similar app for them.

Vacation trip

It is easy to get on and off. The trolley comes by regularly . Passes by all the top sites. The driver was very entertaining.

Affordable and Very convenient way to get around DC. Friendly and informative tour guides. Would definitely recommend this tour to friends and family.

Horrible service

elizabeth_g, Apr 2026
There was a parade and they still charged me. I went to two stops where streets were closed and two uber . It was supposed to be my anniversary celebration and just horrible experience. I called customer service and so rude no help. 138 dollars lost 40 dollars in Uber. You should have notified people of parade and accommodate either another day or refund

Great Drivers!

Ann_Y, Apr 2026
We went mid-April, a couple weeks after cherry blossom season. We missed the crowds, so the buses weren’t crowded at all. We loved the narration by the drivers. They tell different stories. It was convenient to get on or off the buses. I wish we’d started earlier in the day, and I would do it again the next time we visit DC.

Timely rides, great drivers.

Dennis_J, Apr 2026
It was very efficient and timely. Wish directions would have been better about where to go getting off the bus. There was also construction, so not always easy to find the pickup spot because they weren’t always in the designated area.

Great Experience

Vanessa_B, Apr 2026
The drivers were knowledgeable and upbeat. Buses were on time. The hop on and hop off experience was good.

Quiet Please

Albert_G, Apr 2026
At several test shops, it took much longer than 30 minutes to get another trolley. Some drivers were excellent, and you could understand them, while all the drivers were very hard to understand. What didn’t help with the fact that too many people were talking as the driver was giving the tour. The driver needs to explain at every stop that people should not be having conversations or be on the telephone.

We enjoyed the hop bus except my wife got sick and could not go with us and we were unable to cancel ticket.

Great Tour & Guides

Charlotte_G, Apr 2026
Got to see wonderful sights. The “narrator” of the tour on all trolleys and trams were fun and informative. Will do this again next year when I come back with a friend!

Great experience

Dianne_H, Apr 2026
The trolley is a great way to see all the sites and then decide what you want to stop and go into. Our trolley driver, had great energy and knew her information. Even though we experienced a couple of delays that were unavoidable, she remained upbeat and kept us laughing. I can’t remember her name and I’m disappointed about that. Because I would highly recommend her as as well as the trolley..

Great way to see DC if you are short on time

Leilani_L, Apr 2026
This is a great way to get around DC and to see all of the primary sites. It was really hard to find the stops though, and a few times we saw the Trolley taking off, but couldn't find where to get on. We had 3 different tour guides, with varying degrees of humor and information.

Great tour experience!

James_W, Apr 2026
A great way to orient yourself to the city and efficiently get to major sites. The staff, driver/tour guides were great!

Brittany_J, Apr 2026
Two of the stops were closed (the most important ones to us). Couldn’t even see the White House to get a picture. Totally missed the Arlington experience due to no direction. Would never do this tour again

More info please

Paul_S, Apr 2026
Was not informed trolleys would not be going around tidal basin to Jefferson Memorial until onboard. Drivers were entertaining , prompt and courteous. Would take again. Saved a lot of walking.

Great way to see LA.

Jackie_M, Apr 2026
Drivers/guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Bus was comfortable. I lived sitting on the top with sunshine and fresh air.

Not worth the money!

jesse_g, Apr 2026
Not worth the price paid. Over $230 for two adults, two children and we only got to ride the trolley 2x during the day. Half the stops were not accessible so we ended up having to walk great distances, which took a long time. This was not advertised, that may stops were not open. Waste of my money and time.

Disappointed

Courtney_R, Apr 2026
The stops are not labeled at all, so it’s very difficult to figure out where you need to actually meet the trolley to get back on it. Sometimes the stops are closed and they may not alert you. We wasted a lot of time waiting on the trolley. We only got to ride it for about 20 minutes total. We ended up having to walk like 7 miles ourselves just to be able to see what we wanted, as as well as once you get dropped off and see things trying to get back to another trolley stop that’s open. If you’re planning on just getting on and riding the entire time, you will see some of the main things like the Washington monument, the capital, and the Smithsonian’s from the outside, but you will not see the White House. I would not spend the money again it was more of a headache.

No recommendation

Karen_G, Apr 2026
The bus never arrived for pick up at our hotel. Guests at the hotel who purchased this tour from the hotel in Washington DC were never picked up at the hotel. I confirmed with the hotel Concierge on Friday April 3 that a bus would pick us up Saturday April 4, 2026. He said they arrive about 11 am. We were outside 10:45am. The hotel concierge called the local number when the hotel guests bought tickets. The concierge called 3 times and was told a bus is on its way. We all stood outside for 1 1/2 hours. After this much time waiting I called and spoke with a rep who said no bus was coming to the hotel. The hotel concierge arranged an uber for the 6 of us to be taken to Union Station-Washington DC so we could get on a hop on hop off trolley. We waited with many others at that stop for about 30 minutes. Because of crowds and a protest march our tour was incomplete. Our driver was excellent, informative and patient. There are other Trolley tours in DC. I would not recommend booking through Viator-Hop on Hop off 1 1/2 hours scenic trolley tour.

The Easiest Way to See Washington, DC in a Day — Perfect for Families, Seniors, and Babies

Nimesh_K, Apr 2026
This was by far the most convenient way to explore Washington, DC in a single day—especially when introducing the city to someone new. I used the hop-on hop-off bus for the first time because a family member couldn’t walk long distances, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much more of the city I discovered beyond the usual landmarks. It allowed us to see DC comfortably and at our own pace without the fatigue of excessive walking. My family truly enjoyed the experience, and even with a baby on board, it made the day smooth and stress-free. I would highly recommend this option for anyone visiting DC with elderly family members or young children.
