Buddy our guide was the best- very kind, personable and knowledgeable about SF; covered historical facts and interesting information about all the points of interest in the city. The Alcatraz portion was also excellent. Total experience 5 stars! True value!

We took the tour with Buddy and it was good as he brought us around San Francisco to all the major sights and the dropped us off at Alcatraz for the tour. The only draw back was no time for lunch other than eating something on the run.

Fantastic experience
We had an amazing day with our guide, Eric. We were in town for the World Cup and this was just as enjoyable for the family. He was great with the kids and keeping their interest and excitement throughout the tour. Alcatraz was fantastic, especially the Indian Land exhibit. You can explore every part of the island in under 2.5 hours and get back on the boat.

Great for families of teens!
If you are adding the Alcatraz tour, this is a full day of touring. We took our bended family with 4 teenagers and everyone loved it! A good variety of things to see and the tour guide was knowledgeable about the area and many additional details about the city and facts on the area.

Alcatraz prison facilities in San Francisco, USA
  • Tickets include round-trip ferry transportation and an audio tour; you can take any ferry back to the city and they depart roughly every 30 minutes.

  • Bring a camera and a coat for the chilly but beautiful ferry rides.

  • You'll find a few snacks offered on the ferry, and water available on the island.

  • Allow about 2.5 hours for the full prison experience, including both 15-minute ferry rides.

  • The walk from the ferry dock is steep and hilly; an electric shuttle departs from the dock twice an hour and the cellhouse has elevators.
