Transform into a samurai in a short window.

Based on pictures and description of the activity from Viator, I had made up a small idea in my brain what it might be.. but actually doing it far exceeded anything I was or was not expecting. The master was so nice and informative. He felt like an awesome family member and made the whole experience so much fun and exciting. We learned about many different Japanese martial arts and the. Actually tried them in gear. 2 hours went by like in 5 mins. The hands on part and immersive experience is very cool and the way he taught us was so fun. Highly recommend as a family experience, you won’t regret it. Something out of the box of the typical tours.

This was such a highlight of our trip with our two kids (10 and 12). It was a pleasure to meet everyone at the dojo. Such an educational and unique experience. Our interpreter was so knowledgeable and was part of a long line of samurais. We loved this!

A fun little activity to...

A fun little activity to do, we were really happy with our finished chop sticks. Surprised ourselves how nice they were. The experience does include 3 standard wood options but as with everything there is and upsell, there are some beautiful wood options which are considerably more expensive so understand that and also they will do engraving of your name in Japanese for yen 1000, a bit pricey for what took a couple of minutes but it was a nice touch. Altogether we were happy with what we did and everyone teaching you were really nice and happy to help.

Fun DIY experience!

The experience was very fun! It had a good edutainment aspect of value that I enjoyed. The ceramic was pre-broken for us to choose, I wish there were more style varieties to choose from. The instructions were very clear and the video was also easy to follow. I think it would be good to extent the estimated experience time to 1.25 hrs as it seems like people took extra time to create their kintsugi plates and ask questions. I think the value of the experience was quite worth it and they also sell a kit you can take home to try out.

Fun family class!

Wow! What a fun experience as a family of four. We were able to pick two pieces of long rectangular wood of our choice and make chopsticks using a tools and sanding. The instructions were clear and my 10 & 12 year old could do it on their own. Everyone could sand the chopsticks down to whatever shape they wanted to make it more personal. We all got them engraved for 1000 yen extra. We had a great time making our own personal souvenir. Would highly recommend!!!

We booked this experience for our two daughters (12yo and 14yo). They had nothing but compliments and they said it was one of their favorites experiences in Tokyo. Their instructor was very friendly and kind and gave great and easy instructions on making the sweets. We highly recommend this class.

Highly recommended!

I booked a private lesson for my 17 year old son and me. I'm a complete beginner but my son is at an intermediate level. Nao-san tailored the class very well for both of us. She encouraged and guided him to try out his own ideas (I followed templates). He was impressed with her skills and how she demonstrated techniques effortlessly on the whiteboard eg showing how with only a few changes you can change a mood or character completely. I really enjoyed trying the g pen and special manga tools. Thank you very much Nao-san!

You can choose from a variety of Kino prints, with some costing extra, but the extra cost wasn't insane. The studio setting was nice and comfortable, clear communication, and simple construction techniques are easy to accomplish in the time given. I really enjoyed this experience and left with the altered pieces that I can wear separately or together.

This was a wonderful...

This was a wonderful experience for our family with 3 teens. The couple were delightful and great teachers. We learned a lot about different kinds of ramen and the ingredients that go into making a flavorful bowl. We prepared most of the ingredients and then focused on the goyza while the broth cooked. They did a great job instructing us on preparing and shaping the dumplings. Go hungry and know you won’t need lunch after. We ate everything we made! It was all outstanding. Highly recommend!

I would love to give 10 stars. Jyro and his assistant got us dressed up as samurai warriors. Full costume. Sword handling was demonstrated with real swords. Next, Sword handling and combat technique was demonstrated with actual size, plastic swords which were close to the real ones. We practiced sword moves and fighting. Really. Next, with wooden sword replicas we did some actual combat. Remember when you were a kid and played sword fighting. This was the real thing. The costumes were real. Lots of photos were taken with our own cameras and theirs. Got a SD card with their pix. This was an amazing experience. We were amazed at how much technique was taught and demonstrated. I have a photo ID that shows I am a “certified” Samurai.
