The Ultimate Kimono Experience (Yes, You Make It!)

I had such a memorable kimono experience! Getting there took a little effort—one train mishap and an Uber rescue later—but once I arrived, it was actually very easy to find. From the moment I walked in, I loved the intimate setting. The experience felt personal, hands-on, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. I honestly wasn’t expecting to actually make my own kimono, so that was such a pleasant surprise. Watching everything come together—and then having the final piece perfectly tailored to my body—was amazing. Of course, we can’t forget the accessories… because who doesn’t love a good styling moment? Everything came together beautifully. The highlight for me was definitely the photoshoot. Aki and Rumí were so patient and made sure I got as many photos as I wanted—which is a big upgrade from my partner, who usually caps me at four 😂 I highly recommend this experience if you’re looking for something fun, elegant, and truly unique. You won’t regret it. And to make it even more special, I walked away with not just a beautiful kimono, but also two wonderful new friends who made the experience even better.

Perfect blend of history, culture, hands-on experience

This was a wonderful and memorable experience - highly recommend. It was the perfect mix of history and hands-on experience. We learned so much and had a great time. We loved hearing about the clan history, the various weapons, dressing as a ninja, trying some skills out. The woman who owns the dojo (whose descended from a great samurai house) and the gentleman samurai and female scribe were great - so kind and knowledgeable.

A fun little activity to...

A fun little activity to do, we were really happy with our finished chop sticks. Surprised ourselves how nice they were. The experience does include 3 standard wood options but as with everything there is and upsell, there are some beautiful wood options which are considerably more expensive so understand that and also they will do engraving of your name in Japanese for yen 1000, a bit pricey for what took a couple of minutes but it was a nice touch. Altogether we were happy with what we did and everyone teaching you were really nice and happy to help.

This was a phenomenal experience. It was a great activity where one was introduced to techniques and weapons used by samurai and ninjas. The instruction was clear, safe, and thorough. It was a unique activity which was a welcome change in pace from visiting shrines and temples. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo.

Fun DIY experience!

The experience was very fun! It had a good edutainment aspect of value that I enjoyed. The ceramic was pre-broken for us to choose, I wish there were more style varieties to choose from. The instructions were very clear and the video was also easy to follow. I think it would be good to extent the estimated experience time to 1.25 hrs as it seems like people took extra time to create their kintsugi plates and ask questions. I think the value of the experience was quite worth it and they also sell a kit you can take home to try out.

Fun family class!

Wow! What a fun experience as a family of four. We were able to pick two pieces of long rectangular wood of our choice and make chopsticks using a tools and sanding. The instructions were clear and my 10 & 12 year old could do it on their own. Everyone could sand the chopsticks down to whatever shape they wanted to make it more personal. We all got them engraved for 1000 yen extra. We had a great time making our own personal souvenir. Would highly recommend!!!

Highly recommended!

I booked a private lesson for my 17 year old son and me. I'm a complete beginner but my son is at an intermediate level. Nao-san tailored the class very well for both of us. She encouraged and guided him to try out his own ideas (I followed templates). He was impressed with her skills and how she demonstrated techniques effortlessly on the whiteboard eg showing how with only a few changes you can change a mood or character completely. I really enjoyed trying the g pen and special manga tools. Thank you very much Nao-san!

Beautiful experience! Do not miss this!

Probably one of the best experiences I had in Tokyo. It was so sweet and relaxing. I enjoyed learning about the ancient art of Japanese calligraphy and creating my own t-shirt to wear. It is a treasured memory on my trip. My teacher, Hiromi was as sweet and kind as can be. I’m truly grateful for her and the very special experience. I even met the third Master. He is third generation of a very special tradition and a teacher of teachers. Do not miss this truly beautiful experience. It’s immersive and wonderful . I loved it and have a truly beautiful memory in my heart to bring home. And my cute t-shirt. A must!!

This was a wonderful...

This was a wonderful experience for our family with 3 teens. The couple were delightful and great teachers. We learned a lot about different kinds of ramen and the ingredients that go into making a flavorful bowl. We prepared most of the ingredients and then focused on the goyza while the broth cooked. They did a great job instructing us on preparing and shaping the dumplings. Go hungry and know you won’t need lunch after. We ate everything we made! It was all outstanding. Highly recommend!

Brilliant experience, 100% recommend!

This was a highlight on our 2 week trip to Japan! Jiro and Aya was so friendly and accommodating. The kids absolutely loved it, and so did the grownups :) We got some amazing photos and absolutely brilliant and hilarious videos of us doing a ninja movie! Our family would 100% recommend this to anyone traveling to Tokyo and want to have a memorable and fun experience!
