- Traditionally, authentic Kintsugi requires a process that takes about a month to complete. However, in this workshop, we use synthetic lacquer instead of natural lacquer, and metallic powder as a substitute for gold, allowing participants to complete and take home their restored piece within 90 minutes.
- We recommend using the restored piece for decorative purposes only. Please also note that the repaired item is not microwave-safe, as there is a risk of ignition.
- Please note that the workshop venue may change depending on availability and the number of reservations. In the event of any changes, we will notify you by email with the new location details one day before the workshop.

It was an amazing experience! I highly recommend taking time out to do this in Tokyo. The teacher was so calm and explained every part of the process in so much detail.

Really enjoyed the hour and half here! The host was a kind well articulated gentleman who gave an easily digestible history of the kintsugi art form before letting us try out a version of it made to finish something in less than an hour (versus months in the real kintsugi art form). The hosts helped in the more difficult aspect (cleaning, sanding, packing) and allowed us to do the easy gluing parts and fun/creative painting parts! Highly recommend for an enjoyable quiet short activity!

Great instructor, lots of history and information, and took home a beautiful work of art! Thank you for a meaningful experience.

The instructor was so knowledgeable on the art of kintsugi and urushi laquerwear. He’s a very interesting guy, as well! This workshop was a great introduction to the art form and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it while on our honeymoon. The instructor took his time helping everyone in the group make their kintsugi creation so if you’re unsure of your level of creativity, this is a great workshop for you. The cafe the workshop is held inside, AOU, is super cute and the staff are so kind and helpful. Very easy to find too, the Daiwa Building is not a far walk from Hibiya Station.

Our teacher was so knowledgeable and informative. Beautiful classroom, with lots of space to work. Lots of time was given for class to get to know eachother. We all took home a beautiful piece of art. Highly recommend this excursion!

Class was educational and fun and Tatsu was a great instructor! We took the class with our son and daughter in law - all enjoyed it thoroughly. Tatsu is patient and the setting in a private room inside the coffee shop is serene with lots of greenery. It was interesting to hear about Tatsu’s long history as a sound engineer too. We will treasure our keepsake kintsugi pieces and look forward to displaying them when we get home.

A wonderful, hands-on cultural experience with a fantastic guide. My husband and I loved it! We recommend.

He was wonderful! Loved the history of kinsugi and absolutely loved doing it. We, of course didn’t have a month to let things dry and set up - so we used modern day short cuts with the understanding that there is another way. got to repair my iwn tile!
Great group of fellow repair learners!

Our instructor Tatsu was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and personable. He truly cares about the experience of his students and ensures that everyone has a finished piece that they are proud of. He can speak authoritatively about the art of kintsugi and explain the cultural relevance, and how and why kintsugi is practiced today, and the changes that the art has undergone in the hundreds of years since its inception. The time we spent with Tatsu was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.

This experience was fantastic. Excellent instructor. The class was inside a small lounge. It was a beautiful, peaceful place. And we were able to take home a souvenir with personal meaning.

Great experience! Tatsu san is a patient and detailed instructor. He gives you a little history on kintsugi and is with you every step of the way in the process. For it being my first time, and due to his direction, I think my piece came out beautiful. I love it! I now have a special souvenir I made myself. I recommend this to anyone wanting a kintsugi experience!

We had a great time at this workshop and so happy to learn about Kintsugi. Nice and calm atmosphere so a good way to get away from the city fuzz for a spell.
