A good way to see several fun places but probably could be done on one's own by getting a list off the internet or by using AI.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thanks so much for your review! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the variety of places on the tour. While it’s definitely possible to visit these spots independently, we aim to take the stress out of planning and add extra value through our guides, local knowledge, and smooth coordination. We hope you had a fun and memorable experience with us!

This was an AMAZING TOUR the tour guide was nice, he started by learning all our names, he paid for a retro game for us, he ALSO paid for ice cream for us the places he took us were amazing, and there was never a time where we were bored. Amazing. Just. Amazing

We had a fantastic time on our Akihabara tour with Naoki. He was incredibly kind, patient, and thoughtful (especially with our two kids, one of whom is autistic) and he really tailored the experience to their interests rather than doing a generic walk-through.
What stood out most was how much care he took with our food allergies. He gave us practical, realistic advice about eating in Japan and even made us handwritten allergy cards in Japanese, which was far beyond what we expected and will be very helpful for the rest of our time here.
He also helped us navigate the chaos of Akihabara (which is a lot) making it a fun experience - and giving us the tools we will need to come back later to finish our shopping - my son is also excited to try out the cat cafe he pointed out! Thank you, Naoki!
Highly recommend this tour, especially for families or anyone feeling a bit intimidated by Akihabara.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re truly happy to hear that Naoki tailored the tour to your family’s needs and made Akihabara enjoyable and comfortable, especially with such thoughtful care for your children and food allergies. We greatly appreciate your kind recommendation!
Rosanna_C, Sep 2025
Guide was pleasant, but provided little info. We would have seen more of Akihabara exploring it on our own.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We’re glad to hear you found the guide pleasant, though we’re sorry to learn the tour didn’t meet your expectations in terms of content and exploration. Although we've received good feedbacks as well but your comments are truly appreciated and will help us improve the experience for future guests. Akihabara has so much to offer, and we’re always working to ensure our tours capture its full energy and depth. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope you’ll consider giving us another chance in the future.

summer in Japan is very hot and humid. the tour is about anime, electronics, and young maids. Ai knows her trivia well and we had a great time.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you for your review! We're so glad you had a great time on the tour, even in Japan's hot and humid summer weather. Ai will be happy to hear your kind words — she truly enjoys sharing her anime knowledge and guiding guests through the world of electronics and maid cafés. We hope the fun and energy of the tour made the heat a little more bearable! Looking forward to seeing you again on another adventure.

Great informative tour with Tour Guide AI. She was very knowledgeable about the different stores we visited on this tour. She was very welcoming and it was like hanging out with a good friend. I would definitely recommend.
Jennifer_H, Jul 2025
The tour was vey fun and a great family experience! Such a time saver to not have to go in many stores to find our interest.
Ruth_B, Jun 2025
Our guide Yuki was helpful in tailoring our tour based on our interests. Although overwhelming for a new visitor, at least it is a good overview of Akihabara. The maid cafe was a cute experience. The flashing night lights also did not disappoint.
Katherine_N, May 2025
This tour is great for anime, Manga, retro video gamers and appreciators of everything gaming. This tour was suited more for my partner than me but I still enjoyed walking through all of the stores, learning about the area and of course the maid café. It was an amazing time and I highly recommend the experience.
Jennifer_B, Mar 2025
This is not a tour. The guide simply directed our group of 4 to stores and had no history or knowledge of the area. We left after one hour.
One can visit Electric Town without a guide.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. Our goal is to offer an informative and engaging tour, and we regret that you felt the guide didn’t provide the historical context and insights you were hoping for.
We follow our strict guideline and train our guides before they host the tours, and your feedback gives us room for improvement.
We truly appreciate your feedback, and we will be sure to review the tour to ensure we are delivering a more enriching experience in the future.
We hope you will come to see us someday for a different experience.

I had a lot of fun playing arcade games and visiting a maid cafe for the first time ever! Seina was such a great guide! She was very energetic and a true Otaku. I had a great time hanging out with her.
Andreas_B, Oct 2024
The maid cafe was great and lots of fun. Our guide explained the history of the area succinctly and how it had changed over the years. The old technology on display was cool.
Dolan_D, Aug 2024
We were in Akihabara for one day and thought this would be a good way to see the area.
We went to super potato (retro gaming shop which was pretty good) and a few random merch shops (with a small selection of goods eg key rings). There wasn’t any anime or manga history - just looked at some Gundam models in the station area (which you will organically see when you arrive at the station anyway).
The gaming was tepid. Some old arcade machines - I think the only decent one was an old marvel vs capcom machine.
The maid cafe was weird and lacklustre - not sure if perhaps we went to a low end one.
The tour didn’t add any value for us - we couldn't wait for it to end as it was using up valuable time for us to see the area properly. Luckily it was only 2 hours instead of the advertised 3.
I paid about £150 for two people - I left feeling distinctly ripped off.

Hello Dolan_D,
Thank you for your honest feedback.
For guests who are into or want to see the world of Aime and retro games, we believe this tour is perfect.
The Anime figures and stores, gaming store, flea market, capsule toy vending machines, the gaming arcade and the maid cafe we visit during this tour are stores that the locals visit.
We apologize this tour was not satisfactory for you but please understand that many guests enjoy this tour and are satisfied to see and experience the unique vibe that Akihabara and this tour offers.
However, your feedback gives us room for improvement.
Again, we appreciate your feedback.
Sincerely,
Magical Trip Team

Don’t do this tour! A complete waste of money. It was very boring and the guide was very weird and made my kids and I feel very uncomfortable. He kept taking pictures of my children without asking and took a couple of the group; he said to prove to the company he in fact did the tour. When I asked him to take a picture of me and my kids, he said he was not allowed to do that, but yet kept taking unauthorized pictures of us, specifically of my 13 year old dauther. The guide kept causing and saying how awful Japan was. I am not particularly sensitive to swearing even though I had a 10 and 13 year old with me. However, I thought that behavior was very unprofessional. He kept saying he doesn’t get paid enough and would not stop talking. We gave up mid tour and did our thing. We all got a bad headache from him talking and I would not recommend this tour. Not worth the money and you will leave disappointed.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for the discomfort you and your children experienced during the tour.
Regarding your concern about the photos, we typically ask guests for permission before starting the tour, but it appears there was a lapse in communication or misunderstanding in this instance. We are reviewing our procedures to ensure that such issues are handled more appropriately in the future.
Regarding the guide's comments about Japan, it’s important for our guides to provide information in a balanced and respectful manner. We expect our guides to share factual and engaging insights without expressing personal grievances or making statements that could be uncomfortable for guests. I’m sorry if this approach impacted your experience negatively.
If you have any further concerns or would like to discuss this in more detail, please feel free to contact us directly. We appreciate your feedback and hope to improve our service based on your experience.

The most memorable part of the experience was the epihany that I was actively being scammed. The operator and the guide are not in communication. The guide was not at the predetermined location and the operator did not assist with finding the guide. The tour guide did not have anything on his person to stick out in a crowd. The sign was a piece of paper. I am handicapped, and the tour guide refused to accomodate at multiple instances. The other members of the group were equally displeased. We all abandoned the experience early. We went to a total of four shops in the first 90 minutes. The last 90 minutes is sharing a table at a cafe where you get one free drink. I generated an itinerary on ChatGPT, and ChatGPT was infinitelty more helpful than the guide.
This is a scam despite people's positive reviews which I must assume are sourced from a place of politeness.
I am going back to Akhihabara today to actually enjoy the district.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Thank you for taking part in our tour.
As we advised when you inquired, we ask all of our guests to meet our guide at the predetermined meeting place which was located at the other side of the station from where you were at the time.
As much as we would love to accommodate any guest with different needs, picking them up at a different location while others patiently wait elsewhere is not what we can offer since it's a group tour.
You informed us of your handicap a few minutes before the tour start time and didn't even specify what it was. You were just being very upset and impatient the whole time which made it more challenging to extend any help.
We understand your frustration for refusing to pick you up at your preferred location, but we must clarify that you constantly nagging at the guide made other guests very uncomfortable. You were the only group that left the tour early and the others stayed until the end.
We hope you had a great time in your second Akihabara visit.
Regards,
MagicalTrip support team

Ryo was a great tour guide. He shows us around shops, I would not have found on my own. As an Anime fan, I enjoy Akihabara and having a guide was very helpful. I enjoy the maid cafe and very grateful Ryo help me out to find specific shops. I had a great time!!!

Really good tour, went to lots of vintage arcades we wouldn't have found on our own. Japan has lots of people so bring your patience.

jenniferdavidbvail, Jun 2024
Not a huge fan of gaming or Anime, but our son is and he had a blast on this tour. Our guide was super knowledgeable about the area and its history. Went to a few stores and had drinks at a maid cafe. Definitely a must do if you are interested in Anime.
Mimi_G, May 2024
Had a wonderful time with Kenji. He shared the history of the area and took us to a Maid Cafe which was a really cool experience.
Nicolas_V, May 2024
Getting to see some cool shops along with an awesome maid cafe experience. The tour guide was thoughtful and helpful throughout.
Fallon_L, May 2024
We learnt so much about Akhibara and the gaming community. The maid cafe was a really fun experience. Our tour guide was so much fun.
JeanMarie_N, Apr 2024
Really fun tour that helped us get through a pretty overwhelming part of the city! We checked out several shops with lots off animae products, learned the history of the area, and were able to get a grip on navigating the neighborhood. Wasn't sure what to expect with the maid cafe, but it was soooooo much fun! If you're a geek visiting Tokyo, this is totally worth your time!
Andrew_R, Apr 2024
Amazing time! Eye was a perfect tour guide! She was so much fun. I loved her! She made us all feel right in and she was amazing and very insightful! I wish it was all day. She was dope! And super super super fun. Huzzah for Eye!

Definitely worth getting in on this tour, Seina was SO HELPFUL AND GREAT.
It made our introduction to Akihabara so easy and answered all of our questions and more.
Thank you Seina.
Brian_1, Mar 2024
Not impressed at all, over half of the tour wasted walking up flights of stairs in pokey, dingey, over packed old shops, so to me not good at all. The maids cafe was the last 60 mins of the tour and again not great. Would not recommend this at all, unless it is pouring with rain.
Response from Host, Apr 2024
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. Normally this tour is popular for most of the guests and they enjoy the area and the Madi cafe they visit during the tour. But your comments regarding the time spent and the quality of the stops on the tour are duly noted, and we will take them into consideration to improve our offerings in the future. We strive to provide engaging and enjoyable experiences for all our guests, and we regret that we fell short in this instance. Your input is valuable to us, and we appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. If you have any further concerns or feedback you'd like to share, please feel free to reach out. We hope to have the opportunity to better serve you in the future.

Ryo was very knowledgeable and showed us a variety of anime stores. He took into account our individual interests as well. It was very fun!
Jennifer_C, Mar 2024
We had a great time touring Akihabara with our guide Taka. We ventured into the neighborhood and were shown fun local shops we wouldn’t have found on our own including one with original Nintendo and other games. The highlights of our tour were the HEY arcade and the maid cafe. Taka was so kind and helpful with reservations and translating for us. He also took lots of photos for us. It’s a fun part of town and must visit while in Tokyo!
Aaron_R, Sep 2023
This tour was awesome! We got to see so many cool and retro gaming and anime shops all over this part of the city. The maid cafe was so much fun and a great experience you just have to see to believe. Tommy was a great guide, super funny and friendly. He engaged with all of us and catered to our interests while sharing some of his own.
Brittany_I, Sep 2023
