Incredible experience. My kids love art and one loves manga. We all got to draw a character of our choice and went through sketching, outlining, shading, adding tone/accents, etc. I’m terrible at art and the sensei helped me through it. There were two manga artists and one woman who helped with translation and with our art. Very well done. Highly recommend.

I took this class on March 6, having just arrived in Tokyo and still quite jet lagged, but I had a wonderful time nonetheless! Rokkaku (manga sensei) and Ai (interpreter) were an absolute delight. Rokkaku did the initial draft of the character and pose I wanted and then helped me outline, add detail, ink, and use screen tone. Ai was lovely and kept the conversation flowing between the three of us, made sure we were on schedule, and helped communicate any questions I had or if I needed help from Rokkaku. I have a bit of art experience so it really felt like a collaborative workshop where I got to learn the tools and style of manga. I would recommend this activity whether or not you have drawing experience, Rokkaku was always there to help me sketch out an idea or make suggestions when I got stuck. All in all it was a really fun way to spend the first day of a trip to Tokyo!

The instructor was very helpful, I have previous drawing experience and my mom had none. He did a brief sketch and I updated mine to my tastes and my mom just traced hers. Then when we put the sticker background (forgot the name) he helped us finish it.

Overall, a great experience! It was absolute joy to get to know the manga artist, draw, and learn industry techniques. Just double-check the address before you go since it can be a bit tricky.

this was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! absolutely blew away my expectations. you could do this with maximum or minimal art experience and still have an amazing time, leave with an incredible souvenir and have learned awesome skills. I cannot say enough about how incredible this was. It was the highlight of our Japan trip!!

The Manga tour was an incredible amount of fun. Finding the place was easy thanks to the in-depth instructions. Both the instructor and translator were very engaging and helpful. The drawings provided were all cool to look at and refer to. They even let you choose your own reference image. I had an incredible time and would recommend it to anyone who likes anime and manga.

This experience was everything that we hoped for had a great time. Would definitely do it again. Made me who can't even draw a stick figure feel like a real artist and my son who actually has artistic ability had a great time and learned so much.

You can be a complete beginner or have experience drawing manga to enjoy this. They give you ideas but it would be best to think about what you want to draw beforehand. The manga artist then takes you through all the steps, helping out when needed. My kids (aged 12) and I all came out with an appreciation of the work that goes into manga and an artwork we are proud of. This experience was a highlight of our trip.

Very enjoyable experience. Learned a lot about the type of drawing. Instructor engaging and fun. We were able to successfully draw what we wanted to. Come with an idea what you want to draw. Very interesting learning about the tools used. However, our tickets had directions to an office in Ebisu, we arrived early but it was not the place. I contacted by email the instructor and was directed to another office in Shibuya. This required going back to the train station and heading to Shibuya Station and then finding our way to the new office resulting in being a half hour late to class. Fortunately we helped two others find their way too. Disappointing and frustrating. We should have been sent an update email with instructions to where the class was changed to.

It was a wonderful experience! We had a blast and even though we had very little experience, our results were amazing, because we were supported and guided by an experienced team (artist and translator). Definitely one of our highlights on this trip!

The Manga Drawing experience has been the most engaging actiivity we have done in Japan as a family. You absolutely do not need to be an artist to leave with your own amazing finished product thank to the help of Masa and his artists. The process of creating manga is extremely interesting and it was enjoyable to engage with true manga artists. You get to pick what you want to draw. My son, who is 10 y.o., drew a character from My Hero Academia while my wife used turned a family picture into mange style art. We left with our drawings and we were so inspired by our wonderful experience that we purchased a drawing set and a drawing of one of the artists. Masa and his team are very friendly, nice and passionate about sharing the manga culture. Go for it and you will have a lot of fun!

Such a fun experience! Chie Sensei and Masa were great. We had a small scheduling snafu with them but Masa arranged a different time that fit our schedule. It was the highlight of the trip for our 9 year old daughter. Though, 9 is about as young as you’d go for this class. The techniques require some care and patience, but thankfully the teachers helped out.

Unique and wonderful experience. Got step by step instructions to make our own personalized masks. All were different and all were master pieces. So fun. Can’t wait for our fired masks to arrive home!!

Instructors were friendly and encouraging. We were able to learn about the illustration process and tools without needing to do the initial sketches or composition layouts.
Instructors also had good suggestions for places to buy more tools after class as well as where else to visit in the city.

A great experience for my child & myself. Both the professional mangaka (who worked on Hunter x Hunter) and guide/translator were very friendly and open to questions about the process and manga industry. Exceeded my expectations—more than a “paint by numbers” session by learning real methods.

What an amazing experience! The staff were incredibly helpful and light hearted, keeping us all laughing while we worked on our pieces. The opportunity to learn from real manga artists, who've worked on some of my favourite anime/manga was something I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Excellent and fun class for learning the tools and techniques used in manga. Using your character idea(s), the class will help you with storyboarding the scene, developing the drawing outline, and finally transforming it with the teacher's guidance and advice using the traditional tools used to create the graphic work employing characteristic manga elements.

Une expérience très sympa. Une dessinatrice vous initie à l'art du dessin de manga. Elle parle un peu anglais et est secondée par un jeune homme qui parle parfaitement et sert d'interprète. Elle vous fait des propositions et vous aide à créer votre propre illustration, très personnalisée. À la fin, votre illustration est plastifiée, ce qui la rend plus facile à rapporter dans votre valise. Un beau souvenir !

C’était un super moment! La traductrice est super sympa et parle très bien l’anglais et l’espagnol. La professeur de dessin explique très bien, et montre tout ce qu’il faut faire. Ça restera une de mes meilleures expériences au Japon. Et ça m’a donné envie de continuer à dessiner des Manga.
