Lots of walking! We were tired from our plane ride-schedule the walking tour a day after you arrive to save your legs. The guide was great! Knowledgeable and entertaining. He taught us some short cuts to avoid climbing uphill too many times that were helpful for the rest of our stay. And it was a great way to see almost all of the neighborhoods in historic Lisbon.

This tour was a great way to experience traditional Portuguese food, beer and wine in an area of Lisbon full of old restaurants and one dive bar. Daniel, our guide, helped us - about a dozen of us - through six stops and 3 hours of how food was prepared and why it has become traditional in Portugal, as well as the regions and history of the wines we were served. He spoke with humor and authority. In the end, most of us stayed for an after tour drink to explore our new friendships.

A helpful Portuguese cuisine 101!

It's best to come hungry to this tour; I had a light breakfast, and even that was a bit of a mistake (I suppose it depends for what time you book the tour). Anyway, we visited a series of restaurants which were ordered correctly (I think each was better than the one that came before). I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but I think it was more along the lines of a Michelin star guide through the cooking process, the ingredients and the history of each dish; it wasn't quite that, and I'd say this is a much more approachable tour focused on visiting a series of 5 or 6 restaurants and trying different dishes.

Met up Guiherme at the John 1 statue along with 10 other food explorers and we were off! The walking tour takes you around the downtown Lisbon district and treats you to pastries, Iberian ham, bifanas, pasteis de nata, cherry liquer and then a seafood lunch. Gui did a great job pacing the group, telling background details of each visit/food along with general Lisbon knowledge. Overall a very fun and tasty way to learn Lisbon.
