Great experience. Watched containers being loaded and unloaded. Up close view. Lots of behind the scenes information. Very knowledgeable and personable guide.
Dianne_W, Apr 2026
A great overview of the port and it's operation. Up close look at huge ships with explanations of how container ships work, and the huge cranes that load them.
Tim_K, Apr 2026
Great tour. Very informative. Terrific guide. We saw the ships up close and were amazed. Warning: Wear suncreen! And there are no bathrooms on the boat.
Isaac_P, Apr 2026
The captain was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made everyone feel comfortable. I would be bringing back my friends and family.
Pam_B, Apr 2026
The trip didn’t start when scheduled. Was over 30 minutes late. You have to pay to park and the boat we went on was not what they advertised. No restrooms or food to purchase.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for your feedback, and I’m sorry to hear the trip did not meet expectations.
We sincerely apologize for the delayed departure. We know your time is valuable, and that’s not the experience we aim to provide.
I also wanted to clarify that the vessel used for this tour is intentionally a smaller, more intimate boat, which is reflected in the photos on our website. It does not have onboard restrooms or food service, and we try to set that expectation in advance so guests can plan accordingly.
We appreciate you sharing this, and we will use your feedback to continue improving communication and the overall experience.

Our captain was great and knew a lot about the port operations. We enjoyed the fact that we were on a small tour group of 16 people, in a small maneuverable boat that could get right up close to give us a good view of the port operations.
The tour operator gave good meeting instructions and the captain departed on-time.

We had a great time. The captain was very knowledgeable about the port and the history of the city of Savannah. This was our second tour and we brought family.

I booked this for my 7 year old nephew. I thought he would love seeing the huge ships up close. The tour was really awesome. I will say the boat gets super hot, you are sitting in the direct sun for extended periods of time so you absolutely need sunscreen. You will definitely get hot! There is minimal to no shade on the boat. We got a lot of history before entering the port which was great for the adults but a lot for the kiddo. He doesn’t understand the politics and history. The captain usually spends about 30 or so minutes before going into the actual port discussing the history about the port and such. I think the history is awesome, but hard for young kids to grasp, if I could change one thing it would be that we go into the port let the kids watch the tankers load and then discuss the history so both kids and adults are entertained. Overall my nephew gave this a 2 thumbs up which is generally a good thing. He said he got lost a bit in the history but loved going fast with the boat and the big ships. I wound definitely do this with your kids, such a cool thing to see up close! I

You go out in a boat and hear about the history of the city and on down to the loading of the cargo ships. We had Captain Pete and really enjoyed it. He was very informative and fun.

MARCUS_S, Mar 2026
Captain was informative and had engaging side stories. Seamed well-equipped to lead the tour. We may could have done more research or digging beforehand, but comments from the others on our boat led me to believe they were not aware as well. The boat is smaller, which isn’t a problem necessarily, but it was very gusty that day. Captain told us before we left that we could expect to get wet and cold. I think a text heads up with the confirmation would have been helpful to realize it was not covered and smaller. Otherwise a great time and would do it again in nicer weather.

Overall the experience was fantastic. We had a very well educated well informed guide/captain. We were given insight to the overall history as well as operations of the harbor and had the opportunity to get up close and personal with several massive cargo ships

Great tour of the Savannah Port with a knowledgeable captain.
We were able to watch the loading of a tanker and to understand what a shipping port is all about. It was also a perfect, sunny and warm day to be out on the river and fun to look at the city from this vantage point.. Our boat was small - seated 8 comfortably.
Response from Host, Mar 2026

Fun to look at ships from a different viewpoint, but couldn't hear anything. The captain needs a microphone

Amazing tour. Boat was comfortable, small group. Captain "Boo" not only knew many fun facts and history, but he gave us links to learn more. In awe of this port city and seeing the cranes and massive container ships from the water and up close with this kind, funny and whip-smart guide could not have been better. My first time in Georgia and I learned so much about what makes it special.

We enjoyed our tour with Christina- the food at our 5-6 stops was tasty and so filling , we barely had room for the final warm peach cobbler!. She is a native and history major so had very good background and insights and a great sense of humor!

Captain Boo was very informative on our Savannah river port tour. It was so interesting to see the cranes operating to load the container barges & learn the process of getting the shipping containers from the road or rail onto the cargo ships. He even had blankets & gloves on board if we wanted them for our cold mid January tour!
Response from Host, Feb 2026

What a great tour. Got up close to container ships loading cargo and dredging barges and learned so much about Savannahs port. Captain Boo Andrew was fun and full of so much information. He even sent us a link for all kinds of info to read later. Time went so fast and I didn't want it to end.
