Toms knowledge and experience is unmatched. He was amazing, Tom was funny and very personable. You will love this tour, highly recommend !!!
The guide we had was awesome and made the whole tour enjoyable and informative. Well worth the cost and would urge others to experience.
It was such a pleasure to go on this tour with Tom. He was so nice, knowledgeable, passionate and a great storyteller.
As a solo traveller with no car, this tour made it very easy to see the missions and gave me so much information that I would not have been able to get otherwise. I could have continued to learn for much longer!
Highly informative and engaging tour led by Tom, a former archaeologist and National Park Service ranger. We were traveling with our two teens, ages 16 and 13, and got to geek out on all things history, from Spanish colonial culture and the mission system to the local Indigenous population and the history of San Antonio. My son is a history junkie, while my daughter loves art, and the tour definitely satisfied both of their interests.
The tour is conducted in an air-conditioned Sprinter bus, which makes it easy to stay cool and comfortable between stops. We visited four representative missions, each offering a different glimpse into the region’s history and culture. While the tour does not include the Alamo, it begins there, which provides helpful context for understanding the working missions we visited afterward.
It was a great way to spend the morning. If it’s your first time in San Antonio, you owe it to yourself to learn about the people, cultures, and history that shaped the city. Tom's knowledge and his exceptional storytelling is an excellent way to do it.
Tom, our tour guide had a depth of knowledge of local culture of the missions plus the impressive academic credentials to provide an enthusiastic and attention holding explanation of the historical and present day significance of the missions.
The tour guide is very knowledgeable about the history of the mission. He is also very hilarious. I would recommend him everytime.
This tour gets you to all of the missions in San Antonio in the comfort of an air conditioned van, with a knowledgeable tour guide. At each mission you get the full history, little known facts, and time to explore. It’s so much more convenient than trying to figure it all out on your own.
I took my 10-year-old grandson on this tour after he had a unit in Texas missions in school. Tom is the perfect tour guide for this tour. He worked on digs around the missions many years ago and he was a park Ranger at the missions for 26 years. We greatly enjoyed learning about the missions and hearing Tom’s stories. I live in San Antonio and did not know most of what we learned. I highly recommend this tour for tourists and residents.
We had a awesome tour guide and he was very informative on the missions. The missions were very beautiful and the architecture was amazing.
This was the best tour we have been on in San Antonio. Best tour guide (thank you again Tom)!!! Very knowledgeable and threw in some funny zingers with his delivery. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves throughout and learned a lot of info about the history of the Spanish missions. We highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Our guide, Tom, was phenomenal. He was fun to be with and so informative. He was happy to share his appreciation and knowledge of the missions and their history. He’s a great storyteller so we were engaged the whole time. He was also happy to answer any questions we had. Definitely take his tour, top notch, for sure!
As the tour guide, Michael was VERY courteous and accommodating. His company’s air conditioned van was very new and well maintained. Michael knew very little about the San Antonio Missions, and did not really appear all that interested in learning or he would have shown a more in-depth knowledge of the missions. He could not accurately answer 90% of the questions posed to him. But he asked if we liked it. How is one to politely respond to the answer of that question?Michael’s manager, should they care, have put him through some sort of training and proof that he retaining that training information before deploying Michael to the mission of being able to knowledgeably explain the Missions. Otherwise, Michale was like a paid driver with minimal entertainment and minimal information about the tour sites that he was deployed to drive clients to. We will always remember this tour, but it will be more like a joke that the tour guide knew very little, could not answer our questions, and was probably not motivated by our questions to go back and educate himself before the next tour. Michael was a very, very nice and accommodating individual to our comfort, and we enjoyed that. But he was definitely not equipped to be tour guide. He was equipped to be a driver in a very nice air-conditioned van.
The tour was very informative, the perfect amount of time, and we were fortunate enough to be the only ones that day. Our tour guide Tom was very knowledgeable and loves what he does and it shows. I highly recommend this tour for anyone that wants to see the tours and learn about the little things you can't pick up just going on your own. The only improvement I would recommend is would be nice to give a little time to explore the missions on our own. Other than that, it was an outstanding tour given by a great tour guide!
The experience was very informative and interesting. The host was professional, well informed and entertaining. Tom is an actual archeologist. It was extremely hot on our trip, and our guide did his best to keep us as cool as possible, and cold water in a cooler in the tour van.
This is leisurely van tour that will keep your interest throughout. I am a history teacher with an art and architecture background. This tour satisfied it all. My wife particularly enjoyed all the discovery about indigenous peoples. A memorable half day.
Very interesting tour. Tom was so knowledgeable of the missions and the mission system. He included stories that made everything more personal and interesting. We highly recommend this tour.
Mike was an excellent tour guide.
I recommend Mike for your tour!
He was knowledgeable of many of the places!
A great tour, and a really knowledgeable guide Tom. Great experience! Recommend if you are looking for the things to see while in San Antonio!
This has to be the best group tour I have ever done. That says a lot coming from me. I was an American Airlines Flight Attendant for 30 years and have a daughter who is a pilot. I have traveled extensively and continue to travel. What made it so great? Tom. The guide. His knowledge was great, his presentation spot on. He kept us engaged. I am a native Texan and kind of ashamed to say I have not traveled much in my home state. Decided to change that. Taking this tour was so worth it. Met at the Alamo, so it is on you to see that, and kudos to the changes to Alamo plaza in the last 3 years. Huge improvements. Tom gave a briefing of what we would be doing. We then boarded a 15 person van. At that point we visited 4 missions that I had no idea were even here. Stop right now and BOOK THIS!.

Thank you so much for this incredible review! It truly means a great deal to us, especially coming from someone with such extensive travel experience.
We're thrilled to hear that Tom made your tour so memorable. His years of experience, passion for the San Antonio Missions, and engaging storytelling are exactly what we strive to provide, and we're so glad his knowledge and presentation left such a lasting impression.
It's especially rewarding to hear that, as a native Texan, you discovered places you had never visited before. That's exactly what we hope every guest experiences—whether they're visiting for the first time or rediscovering their home state.
Thank you for your wonderful recommendation. We sincerely appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back on another Fun Texas Tours adventure soon!
This takes about three hours but it feels like 10 minutes because of it being immensely interesting. Highest marks if you like history at all!
Guides were well informed and witty. We learned so much about the history of the missions and the current status. Tom provided such interesting details about each mission and answered all our questions. It was a much appreciated excursion.
It's a very well put together tour. Tom really knows his stuff. He is also very passionate about the missions and it comes through during the tour. You see a total of 5 missions that are really beautiful.
The tour guide (Tom) was so knowledgeable! He was friendly, funny, and could answer every question. He was passionate about the tour, which made it so memorable! I would do this tour again! The transportation was comfortable, and he even shared things with us, en route between each Mission. Much better than the big bus tours.
Fabulous! In depth overview of the 4/5 San Antonio missions (minus Alamo) highlighting the history of, structures, people, purpose and degree of success. I feel the success of our tour was because of the tour guide Tom. Super knowledgeable. Great voice. Enthusiastic.
Couldn’t recommend it enough.
Tom was an amazing tour guide, he had so much insider knowledge and incredible stories to tell from all of his years working at the San Antonio Missions! Anyone who goes on his tour will be incredibly impressed with the stories he tells and all of the cool places he knows to take visitors. I had an amazing experience being on a solo tour with him. I would highly recommend to everyone!
So our guide Tom was very knowledgeable about everything on the Mission tour and helped visualize the time period. Appreciated the opportunity and excellence of this tour.
It was a very informative and enjoyable tour of beautiful Spanish mission churches. Tom was a great guide. We highly recommend this tour!
It is a wonderful overview of the SanAntonio missions. Our tour guide Tom is very knowledgeable about the missions and our interactions with Tom and the people of these missions made this trip come alive! Tom explained the local history of each mission from the past to the present. My husband and l were both so glad we had chosen this Viator adventure rather than do it ourselves. It was just the right amount of time and truly memorable.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We’re glad to hear that Tom’s knowledge of the San Antonio Missions and the way he presented the history helped make the experience engaging and memorable for you.
It’s great to know the tour felt well-paced and gave you a meaningful way to experience the missions without having to navigate it on your own. We appreciate your feedback and are happy you chose to join us for this experience.
I got a complete picture of the history of the missions and the area itself. Tom gave a great presentation and was very passionate about the subject matter. He was also friendly and down to earth.
What a cool experience! Everyone knows to go to the Alamo, but the other four missions are incredible! All four are still active churches and Tom did an amazing job telling stories about each mission. For those who think three hours seems too long, let me just say it flew by and there was never a boring moment!
