It’s an in depth tour with a very knowledgeable guide. The heat in Texas can be tough if you want to walk all the missions but there is ample indoor cool space to get a break. Overall a very good experience. The last stop could have been a little shorter as it’s only a single church building not a full mission complex. Very good and knowledgeable tour guide.

That this is the real San Antonio. Very informative and knowledgeable tour guide. The missions all had their uniqueness’s. The rivers that flow through San Antonio are all there in their natural state. Don’t miss the film at the world heritage site!

The experience itself is very good. Going to see the missions is very interesting and allows you to see a glimpse into San Antonio’s past.
The guide made the experience difficult. He was very knowledgeable about the missions and San Antonio in general. The problem with him was that he talked about 75% too much inserting much irrelevancy all in a monotone. He selected the worst possible places in the direct sun instead of a nearby shady area to have long monologues. When people say they hate history, this type thing is probably what happened to them. It needs to be interactive, lighter, humorous and passionate. Someone that can make it come alive. It was pretty intolerable.

Matt was a great tour guide and gave a lot of information about the missions and the history of the settling of the area. He also showed us other aspects of the area and took his time answering questions for the group.

What a wonderful experience. We were initially unsure what to expect, but this tour surpassed all our expectations. Matt was highly knowledgeable, providing excellent context and patiently answering all our questions. The missions were beautiful and the rich history behind them and Matts expert explainations really made the past come alive. We will definitely recommend this tour to anyone we know headed to San Antonio.

Very knowledgeable guide. Easy to understand. Spoke clearly and answered any and all questions. We were given plenty of time to explore.

Our tour guide Joseph was very knowledgeable but way too talkative. We would reach our destination and he would keep us in the van for several minutes some seven 15-20 minutes still talking. We did not feel we were given enough time to explore each site.
Kathy_S, May 2026
My guide, Matt, was a good communicator, informative and personable. The van was comfortable and clean. There was a time to explore the sites up close. I learned a great deal and gained a new appreciation for the history.

Really in depth tour experience. Guide was very knowledgeable.
Only issue is that I wish I had more free time to explore the mission sites myself instead of being lead through them

Joseph was a knowledgeable guide and very accommodating at dropping people off at different locations at the end of the tour. However, he would arrive at a mission and lecture while we were still in the van and some of the passengers were claustrophobic and uncomfortable. I have used Viator in several countries and have never had this experience. He seemed to want to lecture in the van and then let people wander at their leisure at each site. I would prefer someone who gives a true guided tour at each mission site. He actually seemed to start doing this somewhat later in the tour.

Our tour guide Joseph knew his stuff backwards and fowards. However, he would start talking and barely take a breath to allow for back-and-forth from our admittedly small group. By the fourth or fifth mission, we were burned out and had information overload. The tour time could have been cut down as we had too much time at each site. If I could do it over, I would have found some audio tours online or done some deep-dive history podcasts in advance and driven the route ourselves. On the bright side, each location had convenient water and restroom availability. The missions themselves are definitely worth seeing.

Truly awesome inspite of the rain. Joseph was amazing. No question or comment went unanswered. Learned so much. We had a great time☺️

San Antonio missions were a great way to understand the founding of San Antonio. Our guide Joseph was incredibly knowledgeable and brought a true richness to the tours. As we were touring on Good Friday, his understanding of the local religious services and observances, we were able to see the missions while not disturbing the parishioners. We would highly recommend this tour for those with interest in the history of San Antonio and would recommend seeing the older missions before touring the Alamo.

Joseph was an awesome tour guide for this experience. He was knowledgeable and provided lesser known facts in addition to more popular historical information. We recommend this tour to anyone wanting a history lesson in these centuries old sites.
Cindy_B, Mar 2026
Guide, Joseph is a storehouse of knowledge not only about the missions visited but also about the history of San Antonio.
Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to learn more about either of these subjects
Milton_J, Mar 2026

Heidi_J, Feb 2026
Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, however it felt like our tour was being led by a text book. He gave so much information it was hard to process, and he didn't encourage interaction. Or if he did ask if there were questions we didn't want to ask because we knew he would launch into another long explanation. We were there on the hottest day in February since 1996 (we later learned). There were several times when the guide would give a long oration and have us standing in the sun when there was a shady spot available 20 feet away. We would likely not do this tour again and think we would have enjoyed seeing the mission more on our own.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your experience and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As tour guides go, Joseph was the best. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Missions, the people, and their history. We learned so much from Joseph about the geography, culture, and people who made San Antonio what it is today. We highly recommend this tour.
Margaret_C, Feb 2026
Joseph was very knowledgeable and thorough in his explanations. Good combination of lecture and free "wander" time.
Dwight_B, Feb 2026
My only concern was we picked this tour because it included a walk through San Jose misdion with a park ranger. Our tour started backwards of its stated route and we did not get that tour.
Karyn_B, Feb 2026
Our tour guide Joseph was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, culture and current information on the Missions. He is personable and can answer any question you may ask him. He ride and he provided water. We left having a deeper understanding and appreciation of these UNESCO sites. He also dropped us off at our hotel after which was a special treat. Book a tour and enjoy!
