The Basilica of St. Peter's may be subject to unscheduled closings and late openings for religious ceremonies. We do not provide refunds for last-minute closures of St. Peter's Basilica. Your guide will still give you an introduction to the Basilica should you wish to return on your own time during your visit to Rome.
Please note that the Raphael Rooms are part of this 3-hour itinerary but on days due to crowding, timing and direction flows of crowd traffic dictated by the Vatican Museum staff on the day, we may not be able to make this stop within the designated time frame.

VERY long day. Very early meeting time, and waited at least 1/2 hour to start heading to Vatican. If you just want to see Sistine Chapel & St Peter’s Basilica, this isn’t the tour for you. We went through every part of the museum, and our guide kept us outside, for what felt like hours, to explain the paintings on the Sistine ceiling. We had about 10-15 minutes in Sistine, and longer in Basilica. We could have stayed after tour also, if we wanted.

As a family we were so excited to visit the Vatican. Our guide was rude, non-engaging and very hard to understand. She ruined the experience for the whole family and we just wanted to leave the tour. This was a pricey tour as well. Would not recommend. A tour guide can make or break your experience.

First the quick answer which is: Yes I would do this tour again. Guide was great very good information and explained why we needed to rush in some areas and did a great job of stopping in shaded and areas where listening was possible. Definitely not the guides fault just a general observation, you will leave feeling like you missed a lot, but it is also impossible to come close to seeing all of it in a full day or even two days. This is really a Vatican highlights tour which is what you want if you only have a half day for it anyhow.

There is so much to see that you sometimes fell overwhelmed but the tour guide explained some of the most interesting facts and things to see. This was a great way to beat the larger crowds that form later in the day. We were able to see many art collections from popes throughout the years, their apartments, & spend time in the Basilica without feeling rushed. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and always offered to take photos for each family within our group. Was definitely a great way to experience the Vatican!

Beautiful tour. Our tour guide was friendly and very informative. Very crowded by the time we got to the Sistine Chapel. I suggest taking the early morning tour as the crowds tend to be overwhelming for some.

St Peter's basilica is stunning. Sistene chapel ceiling is stunning, and more so now knowing the story it tells. We did the early tour, 7.30am. Guide was passionate about Vatican City. Brilliant and informative. Kept group together. Still pretty busy, but we had space in the chapel. And on leaving, saw the queue. It would have been crammed later.

I thought it would be a spectacular experience since it's the Vatican, but we were completely blown away! The history and points of view of the history expressed to us by our tour guide Thomas was great. It was breathtaking and brought back days from Catholic school. Early Tour a Must

Even though we booked a tour that began before the museum was open to the public and in the mid-October shoulder season, the museum was very crowded, so an early start is a must. Our tour guide is an archiologist and was very enthusiastic about Rome. She made it an excellent tour.

Good insightful and swift tour

The meeting point was easy to find and the registration process was swift. Our tour entered the Vatican museum with no issue while there is a line for all the early guided tour. Our guide was insightful in providing all the information about the history of the place and the artefacts. Only small issue is that our guide has a thick italian accent which we only understand ~80% of what he said. We visited the dome on our own after the tour and it was breathtaking to see the st peters square from above. Definitely recommend this tour.

Overall this was a good tour and I would definitely recommend the early morning. There was an issue with the tickets to get into the vatican museum which caused us to have to wait for a while outside of the museum while our tour guide worked on resolving it so that is why it was not 5*
