Our ticket for today (28.10.2025) was cancelled at short notice yesterday at noon by the tour operator 'Weekend in Italy', with the note that we should contact Viator directly for a full refund. While the refund worked without any problems, we were not told why the cancellation was made in the first place. Through detours we later learned that the Colosseum was closed due to an international meeting for dialogue and prayer for peace organized by the city of Rome. This event takes place in the presence of Pope Francis and has led to the complete closure of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum to the public, according to the order of the Police Bureau of the City of Rome. Too bad that the organizer did not communicate this in advance. So we had to reschedule our day at short notice. A brief piece of information would have been enough to avoid misunderstandings. Although I now award only three stars (only referring to whether I recommend THIS experience to my friends), I must confess that I would choose 'Weekend in Italy' again. Everyone starts at the bottom and I give every newbie a chance.
