Cancelled helicopter flight

It was an easy flight to the big island and back . We drove up to the center of the volcano and marveled at the great changes in the landscape, going scorched earth to rainforest within two miles. It was disappointing that the helicopter flight had to be cancelled due to weather conditions and the rest of the day was fully booked and to see others fly while we waited for our tour bus (for over an hour) to come and pick us up.

Worst tour ever!!! Called Dynamic...

Worst tour ever!!! Called Dynamic travel agent Jay 3 times on 7, 5 and 1 days before the tour, to confirm the pick up location and time. All his answer was I'll call you back and hang up the phone immediately, without any further conversation. He never called me back anyway. Without choice I called Viator to verify, agent responded that Jay explained to me he was still waiting for couple of visitors and he said he could call me at 3PM the day before the tour. Which was completely a lie! Finally I got e-mail confirmation night before the tour for shuttle service. Met the driver, realized our tour was re-assigned to ANOTHER travel agent call Green Tour not Dynamic in a last minute. Green Tour driver complained he was just informed last night to go on this trip, he was forced to give up a X'mas eve party because of us. He took us to each stop as itinerary showed but for 10-15 min each stop only. We were not able to explore and enjoy more but everything just quick quick quick. And we weren't able to see twilight red lava glow at night but forced to leave at 6PM when it's still bright. Because the driver lived in Hilo and he had to drive us back to Kona and drive back again to Hilo home. He said he didn't want to go home too late, so dropped us off 2-3 hours earlier than scheduled. And for lunch, the driver kept asking us what we wanted to eat because he had no idea. Apparently he didn't prepare at all for this assignment. No complaint about the driver, he was a victim, too. Dynamic tour needs to be responsible for this drama and Jay's rude and unorganized attitude needs to be corrected!

WE had a great tour and a great guide. Todd was very knowledge able of the island in general. We were picked up in Kona at 8:30am and returned around 10pm. Todd answered many questions between Kona and Hilo. The sights were awesome and the knowledge really helped out. I wish there were more water falls, but that would be tough time wise. Even with scattered showers it was a great day.

I wish it had a little a more organized itinerary. The pick-up was supposed to be at 7:20am and was rescheduled to 9:00am but was not picked up until 9:30am. Others on the tour were just as confused about pick up time and had been cancelled on the previous day. Lunch time was kept very vague and we didn't end up eating until 4! Luckily we brought snacks to get us by. I think it should be explained a little better on where and when we will be stopping. Other than that, the tour guide was knowledgeable and had good energy.

Our tour guide, Lance, was engaging and knowledgeable, having grown up in Hilo 1/4 native Hawaiian. My wife and I were the only people on tour on this particular day, so we were able to do a few extra things due to the fact that it was just us!

Our local guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The lava flow was impressive. Our tour was scheduled December 31 and some stops on the tour were closed as a result. The online description of the tour promises more than the tour entailed. We did not stop at a few of the sites. We simply rode by them.
