The ride around during the night was pretty. I think a pass-by of a few famous sights would enhance the experience for those sightseeing for the first time. The taped narration wasn’t clear enough to always understand what was said several times.

Left late,.nobody told you what was happening. There was no information / facts about where we were & what we were seeing. When we did try the headphones they didnt work very well & the information was so far behind where we actually was was pointless. Really disappointing trip to how it is sold!
This night tour was extremely disappointing. I booked online in advance but was charged significantly more than customers who purchased their tickets at the location. Despite booking ahead, I still had to stand in a completely disorganized line for over an hour before boarding.
During that time, the tour operators were angrily arguing with employees from a competing tour company, which was very unprofessional and made the entire situation even more chaotic.
When I finally boarded, I had to sit at the very front of the bus, where the windows were so dirty that I could barely see the sights. After booking in advance and waiting so long, I expected a well-organized tour with a clear view of the city. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of those expectations, and I would not recommend this tour.
Good route around the city - only fault was our tour guide had no hook up - he really did his best for everyone - but parts you just couldn’t hear
First time in new York for my 69th birthday. Fantastic night tour on the bus. Highly recommend it. Very organised and easy to get there. Staff was amazing no stress. Travel all the way from Scotland 🏴
We paid to have the tour with a live person pointing out the highlights. We got a set of ears plugs that mostly played music with the occasional interruption for a recorded highlight.
I gave 2 stars because it was pretty amazing to see NYC lit up at night (the 8p tour). However, the experience could have been much better. There is no live guide. You are provided headphones, and it is difficult to hear over the noise of the city; it was also difficult to tell if what was being presented matched what we were in front of. The driver was driving erratically, racing through lights; felt very unsafe for an open top bus. Several people on one side of the bus were hit in the face by tree branches. I realize the driver cannot control branches, but I would think they would be mindful of people on an open top bus; we were also going fairly fast at that point. The bus did not make it to the departure point noted on the Viator page. There appeared to be a lot of traffic, which I understand. We were told the departure point was “a block away”, but it ended up being a further walk. I booked this with my disabled mother, and there were several other elderly couples on the tour who had to walk further than they anticipated. This was not what I expected, and I’m not sure it’s worth the money and the risks. If you’re able to walk, do so; if not, might be worth going with a different company.
I attended the tour yesterday and it was so disappointing there was no tour guide at all it was simply a drive around the city in the rain. this was so awful.
Loved this fun tour! The view of the city up high was breathtaking and fun! The price was right via Viator. One of the highlights of our NYC trip
This was a fabulous and relaxing way to take in the city lights. If it is summer time , make sure to take the 8 pm tour so it will be dark enough. The views are impressive.
The bus arrived 20 minutes after the tour was scheduled to depart. Staff at the loading area did not keep us informed. The bus was old and not well maintained - paint pealing, cracked windshield on upper dec, dirty. We were not offered headsets upon entry and had to go back downstairs to find them. I brought back enough sets for other patrons on the upper deck. Narrative was not well timed with the sites.
The activity is billed as a special event with entertainment, running twice only in the day, The reality on the ground is the journey is the same all day and the employees on the ground will have you board any available bus. There is no special entertainment — just headphones to connect to a lopped AI recorded tour guide.
Seats on the bus are hard plastic. It had been raining before we boarded and the seats had been haphazardly wiped down.
The bus was full of trash from the previous journey (bottles, headphone sets, etc). Some effort was made to clean this up before we left, but again it was haphazard.
The employees ion the ground care only about getting you to buy a ticket. They are salesmen, not customer service reps. Don’t expect much help — they are not wired to behave that way.
The ticketing process via Viator is cumbersome. You have to download the bus operator’s app to actually download your tickets and we had a problem receiving the codes (to be fair, Viator was good helping with this). Bottom line, book directly with the bus operator, not Viator.
The journey itself — at night — is great. But this is when the city makes up for the tour company, which is a cattle shunting operation.
Was too pricey when you book through Viator. We paid 150 CAD for 2 tickets. You can get this at 30 USD (42 CAD/ ticket) at the tour pick up location.
The tickets we purchased were for a tour with a live guide. We were directed to get on the bus I asked and was told there was a live guide, and there was not, only a canned recording that was off timing with what we were seeing. The view was lovely and we enjoyed the ride but we paid more for the live guide and it did not exist. That was very disappointing
First night in New York and a must do! The views are unbelievable from the bus that cannot be seen in that amount of time by foot. Highly recommended and not having to walk with the crowd to fight for a picture
No tour guide! They gave us headphones and there was only music playing on the headphones for the entire trip! You expect to get there for your tour and get right on but there is a huge line!! We waited 45 minutes to get on. Beautiful at night but we didn’t know what we were seeing because there’s no tour guide! Poorly managed company! Don’t do it!!
Terrible tour. No guide or audio. No supervision. People were standing & hanging over the edge. The driver drove erratically. Constantly beeping the horn and running red lights. It was very dangerous! We paid for a tour guide. There was no guide and they only played music through the headphones. It was worse than riding the subway. We will never book again. They are lucky someone was not seriously injured tonight. People standing while the bus was speeding with the signs & traffic lights.
Booked this day before for pick up at Times Square. Super Busy on a Saturday night. Never checked our tickets and actually we could’ve slipped in unnoticed. No live narration or hospitality. VERY unorganized. We did go through the city but pretty uneventful. Would not pay for this again.
It was not a live person tour, it was audio. The outlet at my bus seat was not working so I missed part of tour, until the person sitting in front of me allowed me to insert audio headphone into slot next to them. This meant I had to sit up close behind the person in awkward position so it would reach to my seat. I was told the live person had not shown up for awhile, that's why it was audio tour. After the tour, I mentioned my broken outlet to bus operator so they could possibly fix.
Audio was not the best, couldn’t turn volume up and down. Wasn’t a live tour guide as it was supposed to be. A guy kept standing up and was loud and obnoxious!
We found the staff who run the busses and lines waiting to hop aboard the bus very rude. Very little assistance was provided when bookings were to be confirmed and I had been criticised in front of my family and other individuals in the line waiting to board because I hadn’t clearly understood how to. Ring up the tickets on our Viator app to be scanned. We were hearded like cattle and no smokes nor were there any welcome aboard greeting to anyone very disappointed and to be homes totally ruined the experience for us. I would never book another one of these tours again and have told friends and family not to bother with these tours
I would say this was one of my favorite experiences. It was my first time in NYC and to see the city for the first time at night by doing the tour bus was so much fun! It was perfect for elders or those who have issues walking! Worth every dime!
I would highly recommend that you book a bus tour with another company. We have traveled all over the world and done various versions of guided tours including bus tours. Many of the listed included details of this tour were not available during this tour. To start off the bus was filthy dirty and the seats were wet. No one narrated the tour throughout the entire trip. No headphones were provided to listen to an overview of the city of what you were passing. So, you are riding on a disgusting bus looking at sights without anyone explaining what you are seeing, any history about the sights, or providing the usual humor/jokes while you are on the on the bus tour. We were picked up at a designated location and at the conclusion of the tour were dropped off 5 blocks from where we started. Many people complained to the driver and he was rude and disrespectful to them saying he was not going any further nor was he going to end the bus at the designated last stop of the tour which was were we started the bus tour. I felt sorry for the families with young kids or elderly people who were anticipating not to have to walk the remainder of the tour because the driver refused to end the tour at the stated destination. We have booked other tours with Viator, but this bus tour company DID NOT provide a tour that we would recommend. Do not book with them!!!
This was supposed to be a night tour and was expecting a tour to see the city lights at night. We arrived to get in line at 7:35 for an 8:00 pm tour. They put us on the as we got there and took off at 7:42 pm and it was still daylight. When we over the Brooklyn Bridge it was still daylight and the New York City lights were not bright as we expected for photos. My Grandkids were disappointed as I was also pissed to not get what we paid for.
It was cut short after waiting for a hour and a half. Lssted about 20 minutes. I complained and got no responce. A total waist of my money
Very nice experience. We did NOT cross the Brooklyn Bridge (as thought we would) but we got a view of the Brooklyn Bridge as we crossed the Manhattan Bridge into Brooklyn and turned around and cross Manhattan Bridge back in to Manhattan.
Was pouring rain didn’t get to enjoy the ride also bus broke down we had to get off and waited 30-40 minutes for them to bring a new bus to finish the ride
The staff didn't really know what to do with the bar code from Viator. It was really a pretty mediocre experience all told. Uncomfortable seats, minimal (and pre-recorded) narration, and limited scope of the tour. But my twelve year old thought it was very cool.
Bus broke down. Left early leaving one of our party behind. Has to walk 22 blocks back. No refund offered
Arrived early, Forced to get on a full bus before our scheduled time. Operator said there were over 20 seats remaining at the top of the bus, that was a lie. The 8 that were there, were scattered. We got terrible seats, my party was separated. Unable to get nice pictures as anticipated. Better tours available.
