Beautiful gardens
Knowledge and friendly staff
Great experience with learning about and tasting chocolate
All around an outstanding day!
Ian_E, Jul 2026
Every experience is colored by the workers. This experience did not disappoint. The staff were all passionate about nature, plant life, and farming. Every explanation or answer to questions was thoughtful and obviously not rehearsed or memorized. Their excitement rubbed off on the group and we loved it.
It really is not possible to describe the beauty of the gardens and the variety of vegetation we were introduced to while on this tour. Amazing really.
Take the staff up on the offer of bug repellents (or bri g your own) because you will be deep in nature and that repellent will be an experience saver.

Fun and interesting for the whole family!
The guides truly love what they are teaching about chocolate and the fauna on Kaua'i.

I went with my husband and family. It was very informative, the chocolate and fruits were delicious!! The gardens were beautiful!! The walk was somewhat challenging for me (I have a physical disability - stroke) but I would think for an able bodied individual it would be fairly easy.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Aloha! We are delighted you came to visit with the whole family and to hear how much you enjoyed the garden and the tastings. The garden terrain can definitely be challenging for anyone with mobility issues, we sincerely hope it didn't interfere with your overall enjoyment of time spent here. Thanks for your honest feedback. We hope you enjoyed your holiday on the beautiful garden isle. A hui ho!

This is the next thing closest to Heaven in my opinion! Starting off, the lush area where the Princeville Botanical Gardens are located is perfection! The rolling hills and the quiet surroundings is a perfect spot for such a place. Upon pulling on to the property, we were greeted by friendly staff. And then we were introduced to our amazing guide, Troy. His knowledge and humor kept all of us interested in each tree; each leaf; each berry; each plant; even each chicken! I highly recommend booking the tour with delicious treats or chocolate to taste and then purchase if we wanted. I promise you, I’ll book another tour if and when I ever make it back to Kauai!
Response from Host, Jun 2026

The Princeville Botanical Garden Tour is way more than you might expect. The gardens are actually part of an amazing 9 acre Hawaiian rain forest. Our guide was very professional. There wasn't a single plant he could not identify and tell you a story about it's history and use. Definitely a must do activity if you plan on going to Kauai.
Response from Host, May 2026
Mahalo Jerry! Thanks for sharing your experience with us, so happy you enjoyed your tour and found it educational. A hui ho!

Elizabeth_J, Apr 2026
The 9 acres of gardens are beautifully cultivated. The terraces and bridges are charming and the tour guides are well informed. The one hour Chocolate tasting break in the middle of the 3 hour tour is a learning experience of the process from harvest to bar. The 2 opportunities to taste fresh fruit are well placed. Most of the tour is under the tree canopy, but umbrellas and walking sticks are available. Would not recommend for anyone in a wheelchair or with balance issues. The walk is not strenuous, but can be slick and there’s one cable/swinging bridge. All very safe and well maintained.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Mahalo nui loa Elizabeth for the wonderfully detailed review! We appreciate your visit! A hui ho!
Charles_T, Apr 2026
Rob was very knowledgeable about all the plants and trees in the garden, as well as the history behind it. His enthusiasm for botanical life made the experienced that much better and my wife and I learned a great deal from him. I would definitely recommend this place as a must see excursion experience, for anyone who enjoys nature, history, or even just chocolate!
I easily give this 5 stars. If we come back to Kauai in the future we will be coming back here.
Thank you Princeville Botanical Gardens for the wonderful experience!

Leisurely stroll through a private botanical garden with a variety of tastings including their own single source chocolate...limited, and other global fare trade chocolates, their honey, and seasonal fruits. Knowledgeable guide.

Great experience with very knowledgeable staff. Absolutely loved it. We went on a day after a wind storm but it was beautiful out. Lauren was very sweet and knew answers to every question our group had. We never felt the trek was too much, either. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Kathleen_M, Mar 2026
We were very lucky to catch good weather for this tour. Very friendly staff greeted us right at the front gate. The garden is beautiful, even stunning in places. I teased my wife that this must be what the Garden of Eden looked like. Our guide, Heidi, was a 14 year veteran and so very passionate and knowledgeable. Mini- tasting stops throughout the tour were very fun and the chocolate tasting part was very interesting. The only downside was the length of the tour was 3 hours, and with the heat and humidity, it was a wee bit too much for my wife. They ended the tour in a fun way: each party got their own fresh coconut to sip juice from. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
We love "The Garden of Eden" reference Kathleen! We feel the same way about this beautiful place! Heidi is a wealth of information and truly passionate in sharing her love for the botanical world, happy to hear you found it fun and educational! Mahalo nui loa for coming to see us!
Kathy_T, Feb 2026
Gardens were so beautiful and our guide, Troy, was so knowledgeable funny and helpful. It was a delight to be with him. Learned a lot about the garden the owners and area. The walk had lots of different terrain, some steps and hills. Our walking sticks were helpful since we're not "young chickens". Enjoyed both fruit and chocolate tastings. Although it was predicting rain, we had none.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Aloha Kathy,
We appreciate you letting us know about your tour. Troy is a treat to walk with, always entertaining and informative! Thank so much for being here. A hui ho!
Larissa_D, Feb 2026
This was a fantastic tour exploring and gaining knowledge about the islands plants native and non native. It was a very unique experience while getting to taste the fresh fruit and the chocolate was an added bonus. Loved everything about this tour!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Aloha Larissa, We're so grateful for your feedback and support of the gardens, Mahalo! You put a big smile in our hearts! A hui ho!
Randall_R, Feb 2026
Beautifully landscaped but is NOT wheelchair friendly. That being said, the paths are well maintained. There are many terraces, elevation changes, and garden can be muddy in places when raining. The garden is located on the northern region of Kauai where rainfall is plentiful. Be prepared with raingear and good walking or hiking shoes.
The chocolate tasting was intriguing and delicious comparing chocolate from around the world. A short explanation of the farmer's part of the chocolate making process from the planting of the cacao trees, the harvesting of the seed pods, the processing of the seeds before sending the nibs to the chocolatier who produces the finished product was given. The tour was a relaxing and informative way to spend a leisurely 3 hours in a peaceful and beautiful setting.
If you enjoy learning about plants from around the world you'll love this tour.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
