Beautiful garden with very knowledgeable tour guides. Worth every penny Strikingly beautiful flora. I now see how these plants grow in nature. I'll quit trying to grow them in my S California home unless i can provide them with mist at least daily. A great learning experience about tropical plants ...and CHOCOLATE☺️

Well timed walking garden tour

Angela_H, Aug 2026
It is well paced with a wonderful chocolate tasting in the middle. And also snacks were provided along the way. Troy was a knowledgeable guide.

Finally did this after many trips to the island

Beautiful excursion in Princeville

Rochelle_D, Aug 2026
This botanical garden had so many species to enjoy; every blossom and palm leaf was captivating. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable about the plant life, including the origins on some as well as identifying the true native species. Our tour included a fruit (from the garden) and chocolate (cacao beans from their garden) tasting. The best experience for plant (& chocolate) lovers!

Good but overpriced

kaely_w, Aug 2026
The garden was beautiful but the guide was a bit long winded so the time went over 3hrs, the tasting was good but minimal. It did downpour so the umbrellas they offered were appreciated. Wear shoes you can walk in/go up/down a hill. A good experience overall but not worth the price. Half the price would’ve been more reasonable

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Aloha Kaely, We are sorry to hear you were disappointed in the value of your tour. We work hard as a team here to offer a wonderful educational experience at the best price we can offer and afford to remain open. Hopefully you enjoyed your time on our beautiful island of Kauai and were able to experience the Aloha spirit.

Heidi, our guide, gave a wonderful tour of the gardens. The only disappointment was finding out it would’ve been cheaper to book directly.

Amazing

Tonya_L, Jul 2026
Heidi was an excellent tour guide - so informative and kind. The garden is so stunning and full of amazing plants

Outstanding experience

Josephine_P, Jul 2026
Beautiful gardens Knowledge and friendly staff Great experience with learning about and tasting chocolate All around an outstanding day!

Amazingly beautiful

Ian_E, Jul 2026
Every experience is colored by the workers. This experience did not disappoint. The staff were all passionate about nature, plant life, and farming. Every explanation or answer to questions was thoughtful and obviously not rehearsed or memorized. Their excitement rubbed off on the group and we loved it. It really is not possible to describe the beauty of the gardens and the variety of vegetation we were introduced to while on this tour. Amazing really. Take the staff up on the offer of bug repellents (or bri g your own) because you will be deep in nature and that repellent will be an experience saver.

Garden's and taste

Jenessa_R, Jul 2026
I went with my husband and family. It was very informative, the chocolate and fruits were delicious!! The gardens were beautiful!! The walk was somewhat challenging for me (I have a physical disability - stroke) but I would think for an able bodied individual it would be fairly easy.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Aloha! We are delighted you came to visit with the whole family and to hear how much you enjoyed the garden and the tastings. The garden terrain can definitely be challenging for anyone with mobility issues, we sincerely hope it didn't interfere with your overall enjoyment of time spent here. Thanks for your honest feedback. We hope you enjoyed your holiday on the beautiful garden isle. A hui ho!

Book the Tour!

Kelly_W, Jun 2026
This is the next thing closest to Heaven in my opinion! Starting off, the lush area where the Princeville Botanical Gardens are located is perfection! The rolling hills and the quiet surroundings is a perfect spot for such a place. Upon pulling on to the property, we were greeted by friendly staff. And then we were introduced to our amazing guide, Troy. His knowledge and humor kept all of us interested in each tree; each leaf; each berry; each plant; even each chicken! I highly recommend booking the tour with delicious treats or chocolate to taste and then purchase if we wanted. I promise you, I’ll book another tour if and when I ever make it back to Kauai!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Aloha Kelly, We're blushing! Mahalo for the high vibe review ! It delights us to hear how much you enjoyed your time in the garden with Troy, we'll be sure to let him know! Thank you for visiting and we certainly hope you do make it back to Kauai! A hui ho!

Awesome Botanical Garden Tour

Jerry_V, May 2026
The Princeville Botanical Garden Tour is way more than you might expect. The gardens are actually part of an amazing 9 acre Hawaiian rain forest. Our guide was very professional. There wasn't a single plant he could not identify and tell you a story about it's history and use. Definitely a must do activity if you plan on going to Kauai.

Response from Host, May 2026

Mahalo Jerry! Thanks for sharing your experience with us, so happy you enjoyed your tour and found it educational. A hui ho!

Fruit, chocolate, and a whole lotta knowledge

Haley_H, Apr 2026
Our guide was awesome! Some nice walking and beautiful plants and tasty fruit and chocolate. Highlight of our trip!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Aloha Haley! We absolutely love hearing your tour at the gardens was the highlight of your trip! Mahalo nui loa for the good vibes ! A hui ho!

Relaxing, informative and delicious

Elizabeth_J, Apr 2026
The 9 acres of gardens are beautifully cultivated. The terraces and bridges are charming and the tour guides are well informed. The one hour Chocolate tasting break in the middle of the 3 hour tour is a learning experience of the process from harvest to bar. The 2 opportunities to taste fresh fruit are well placed. Most of the tour is under the tree canopy, but umbrellas and walking sticks are available. Would not recommend for anyone in a wheelchair or with balance issues. The walk is not strenuous, but can be slick and there’s one cable/swinging bridge. All very safe and well maintained.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Mahalo nui loa Elizabeth for the wonderfully detailed review! We appreciate your visit! A hui ho!

A must see...

Charles_T, Apr 2026
Rob was very knowledgeable about all the plants and trees in the garden, as well as the history behind it. His enthusiasm for botanical life made the experienced that much better and my wife and I learned a great deal from him. I would definitely recommend this place as a must see excursion experience, for anyone who enjoys nature, history, or even just chocolate! I easily give this 5 stars. If we come back to Kauai in the future we will be coming back here. Thank you Princeville Botanical Gardens for the wonderful experience!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Aloha Charles! We are already looking forward to your next visit. Thank you so much for the lovely review and recommendation! A hui ho!

Great experience with very knowledgeable staff. Absolutely loved it. We went on a day after a wind storm but it was beautiful out. Lauren was very sweet and knew answers to every question our group had. We never felt the trek was too much, either. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Aloha Kevin! Thank you for the kind review and taking the time to visit us, your support is much appreciated! A hui ho!

Exceeded our expectations!

Kathleen_M, Mar 2026
We were very lucky to catch good weather for this tour. Very friendly staff greeted us right at the front gate. The garden is beautiful, even stunning in places. I teased my wife that this must be what the Garden of Eden looked like. Our guide, Heidi, was a 14 year veteran and so very passionate and knowledgeable. Mini- tasting stops throughout the tour were very fun and the chocolate tasting part was very interesting. The only downside was the length of the tour was 3 hours, and with the heat and humidity, it was a wee bit too much for my wife. They ended the tour in a fun way: each party got their own fresh coconut to sip juice from. Highly recommend!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

We love "The Garden of Eden" reference Kathleen! We feel the same way about this beautiful place! Heidi is a wealth of information and truly passionate in sharing her love for the botanical world, happy to hear you found it fun and educational! Mahalo nui loa for coming to see us!
